Hi everyone! It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the LeanneC condo! OK, not really ... I've only put my new wreath on my front door because I couldn't wait any longer ... it's so freaking cool ... it even has flashing tiny lights! Has anyone else started decorating for Christmas or are you waiting until after American Thanksgiving ... or until December like my family? I'm heading to my fav place today - the mall . Molly wants a dress to wear to a Christmas party ... I have a bunch she is going to try on but chances are she will think they are too flashy ... she likes simple The best part of the mall are the burritos at the food court! I'm not sure what dinner will be ... I bought eggs for the first time in forever so I might have poached eggs and toast ... super exciting. How is the finger today jeremysgirl? How are you feeling scrapmaven? How are you holding up don? And how are you holding up tanya2? What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a great Saturday everybody!

I woke up to a text from DS that his power is off. EST time to be back on was almost noon. Thankfully he washed his clothes last night. He just texted that the power is back on! Whew! He'll arrive sometime mid afternoon. It rained all night but it isn't raining right now so DH and I will attempt a walk. Incredibly windy though. Dinner will be Costco's Chicken Pot Pie during the LSU football game. Love the wreath leannec ! My apologies to any Cowboy's fans but I thought was hilarious.

Tonight is Thanksgiving Dinner at our Clubhouse, $12.00 each. It is all made in the Clubhouse kitchen. Years ago we had Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners catered, then it was decided we have so many Grandmothers living here who "love to cook", it's all done in house. This morning I am having oatmeal and lemon poppy seed muffin. My east coast daughter is flying in tomorrow night with 2 or 3 of her grandchildren.

Good evening Today I went out for brunch with my afterschool care colleagues and three of the parents who make up our organizing committee. It was lovely to catch up and the food was excellent - the restaurant is one of my favourite brunch places here. leannec - I love that wreath! We haven't started decorating for Christmas yet - we usually begin around the start of December, which is the norm here. Our Fire Department has their Christmas Tree sale day on December 2nd this year, so that's probably when we'll get properly started, though I may sneak a few things in before that, as the Christmas Markets open a week earlier. Dinner tonight is salmon lasagne, but I don't know when, as DH has only just started in on making it and it is 6pm already!

Hi everyone. Just a quick pop in. My friend Wendy is here and we are scrapbooking. I made some brownie filled M&M cookies. The recipe was in the cookie book, however I subbed M&Ms for chocolate chips. We'll be having sesame beef and broccoli stir fry for dinner tonight.

Good Afternoon!
5 of the 6 grandkids spent the night last night. They all left an hour or so ago. I had DH put up the fake tree last night and the grands all decorated it for me. It was fun. We put on Christmas music and I let them do it all themselves. It’s a little bare at the top but it’s their tree. DH drug out all the Christmas boxes but I’m not sure when I will be things out.
I am scrapbooking all day. I’ve got football on the radio and my space heater going because it has gotten cold!
We are meeting friends for dinner.

OMG, jeremysgirl, you shouldn’t be showing food porn. Not to me, anyway. It’s dangerous. Very pretty wreath, leannec. I don’t decorate for the holidays. Not because I’m Jewish. My family has celebrated (secular) Christmas for generations. Just because I’m lazy, and we celebrate at my sister’s house anyway, and she decorates like crazy. Still working my way through the rechauffe. Making visible inroads, though. I can probably justify ordering pizza by Monday.

Not sure what dinner is going to be tonight. I took out some chicken thighs yesterday so I'll probably use those up.
I picked up my grocery order today for the holiday next week so hopefully I won't have to go to the store again. I'm in charge of making stuffing so I've been looking up recipes and think I have a direction to go.
Today is my grand nephew's 7th birthday so he's having a party at a skating rink so I'll go watch. This body has no business being on skates so I'll enjoy watching!

Hi Everyone, leannec Your wreath is adorable! Have a great time with Molly. I hope she finds the perfect dress. And enjoy the burrito. cadoodlebug I am so glad that your DS’s power came back on. Enjoy your dinner with him. That is a great picture of the cheerleaders! don I absolutely love your new avatar. Your Bertie was a stunning and beautiful woman. I am so glad that your daughter is coming for Thanksgiving. sueg It sounds like you had such a lovely time catching up with everyone. jeremysgirl Your friend is so lucky to be able to eat those delicious cookies. I hope that you have a fantastic time with her. stormsts That sounds like so much fun with the grandkids. Have fun scrapbooking. lucy At least you are not a grinch over the holidays or ever. I also have to get through my rechauffe, before I start making more dishes. Yesterday DH bought me a beautiful used China hutch for my kitchen. It fits perfectly. He cleaned it and used Old English dark oil on it. It looks brand new. I want to put my China and my mom’s tea set in it. And I want to put some gingerbread decorations in it for Christmas. Today I am relaxing, watching TV, doing my exercises and we are having rechauffe for dinner. I hope all of you have a peaceful rest of the day.

don, thank you for sharing your beautiful photo of both you and your lovely Bertie. How are you doing? jeremysgirl, I wasn't sure if I was going to bake a regular cookie from the book and make it easy or the Boston cream pie macarons. My eggs have been sitting out, so I am committed to the macarons. That will happen after lunch. Have a fun day today. leannec, I hope your burrito is delicious. Have fun w/your dd. cadoodlebug, glad that the power is on and your ds will be by you side this afternoon. Enjoy your week. lucyg, when I was young we had a tree. When I had my bat mitzvah, my dad became uber religious(but invented his own rules of Kashrut) and we stopped decorating, much to my mom's chagrin. I love to decorate, because it's pretty and cute and fun. So, I do. Enjoy today everyone.

I hope you share a decorated picture also Hello everyone! Did my grocery shopping today - stores (Aldi and Publix) were packed but everyone was in a good mood, lines moved quickly, and nothing seemed out of stock so I can't complain. The fun part was getting home and having to bring it all in and put it all away - DD17 is camping and DH is on lifting restrictions so it was all on me. Planning to scrapbook tonight - hopefully get some chores done beforehand. Dinner is stuffed chicken breasts and Brussel Sprouts.

I made a quick trip into the city this morning. I had to go to the local Humane Society to get a couple more lottery tickets for my mom and then I picked up some groceries at WalMart.
Tonight DH and DS are going to a fish fry. DDIL has a birthday dinner to go to for a friend so I’m babysitting the grandboys until the fish fry is over. It will only be a couple of hours.
The weather has turned cold and although I’m not a hot summer weather lover, I don’t like this cold spell either. Clearly I’m a bit fickle. I like late spring and early fall.
Not sure if I will be making supper for the boys or if I will eat before I go. If I eat first, I’ll just grab a roast beef sandwich with leftover roast beef from last night.
I don’t decorate for Christmas until well into December. Not sure what to do about a tree this year because Walkers ginormous crate is in front of the big livingroom window where the tree usually goes. There is no other place for the crate so not sure what to do about the tree. Hmmmm….

Earlier today I went to a craft show at the clubhouse. I bought a couple of things for some Hanukkah and Christmas gifts. I also finished baking my pies for tomorrow but my SIL just called to ask if I could make a cheesecake. I'll have to make a quick run to the store and get cream cheese.
For dinner we are going to grab something from the food truck that's outside by the clubhouse.

leannec that wreath is so pretty and right up my alley - nice and colourful! I am laughing at lucyg calling jeremysgirl 's photo "food porn" - it really is! Those cookies look amazing. sueg the idea of salmon lasagne is making my mouth water. I am going to have to try something like that for myself. DSO and I spent a few hours building our new pergola. Well, he was building, and I was painting. I have discovered that I am NOT cut out for manual labour, it's exhausting! It got to about 3:30pm and we were both starving, as we hadn't had lunch or breakfast. We went to a burger bar nearby to have a late lunch / early dinner. DSO had a burger and onion rings, and this was my feast: Pai Mai Death Treats: Dim sims loaded with kewpie mayo, sweet soy, sambal oelek, crispy shallots, spring onion. Classic Loaded Fries: Fries with a cheese sauce, crispy bacon, diced pickle, spring onion, and French mustard. Banana milkshake I have had the dim sims from there before, and they are to die for. Probably why they are called Death Treats haha! sueg is probably the only one here who is familiar with dim sims, usually bought from the good old Fish & Chip shop, but these ones with an extra Asian twist. (And no, I didn't eat it all! There will be rechauffed dimmies and chips for Sunday brunch.)

Well I just feel like I need that banana milkshake AussieMeg. Not that I'm not already on a high from all the cookies. Jeremy is apparently going to cook breakfast for dinner tonight. I'm glad about that. I got my October daily half done.ill finish it up tomorrow and the beginning of the week. I want to put together a quilt top next weekend.

don ....Love your new avatar, only wish I could see it better. Enjoy your dinner and seeing your family. Do any of your children / grandchildren live near you? tanya2....Many (( hugs )) to you! leannec ...cute wreath! Have you started "Selling Sunset" yet? Anyone else here watch it? I *HATE* the music in between scenes, do you? I hate that cheesy music so much that I hit MUTE as soon as it starts. Ugh, Nicole is just the *worst*--why did they even bring her on the show? I LOVE the outrageous FASHION, though! I also love "Selling the OC"--anyone else? I had a very hard day yesterday, so I enjoyed watching the mindless, silly catfights and Chelsea's ONE LEGGED PANTSUIT !!! jeremysgirl ...A brownie INSIDE of a cookie ? YUM ! AussieMeg ....Everything looks SO good!!! I often google a lot of the yummy things you post, today will be "kewpie mayo" and "sambak oelek". Speaking of---there's a few foods I've seen here that I've googled a few times, but still can't remember what they are. Something scrapmaven mentions that starts with an "O".... Olykaylmer ?

Well, wish me luck. My macaron batter is resting and in 20 minutes I'll pipe out the circles. Then it rests for another 45 mins. Macarons are not a quick process. I really hope they turn out well, but I'm not optimistic. Do not ask me how I'm doing this, because I'm not feeling better, but I am feeling determination. destined2bmom , that's a very nice looking china cabinet. It'll look so pretty in your dining room.
scrappintoee, you're thinking of oyakodonburi. It's a chicken over rice dish topped w/egg. I can post the recipe. It's a Japanese dish and very easy and fast to make.

AussieMeg...I love the name "Kewpie Mayo" because it reminds me of "Kewpie dolls" ---they are the cutest dolls that have been around forever. If anyone else is curious: What Is Kewpie Mayo? | Cooking School | Food Network Kewpie mayo is a Japanese brand of mayonnaise known for its umami-rich, tangy-sweet flavor profile. Compared to American mayonnaise, which uses the whole egg, Kewpie mayo is made with only egg yolks, giving it an exceptionally lush, smooth texture and a deeper yellow color. Sriracha and sambal oelek have similar ingredient lists: chile peppers, vinegar, and salt, but Sriracha also includes sugar and garlic, making it more palatable for some to top a dish. If you're a big Sriracha fan, you're likely familiar with its sour, acidic flavor, which is absent in sambal.Feb 23, 2023

scrapmaven...thanks, I knew I was NOWHERE close! oyakodon… the most popular donburi you'll find in Japanese restaurants and homes. Oyakodon is, you guessed it, a rice bowl topped with a savoury-sweet chicken and egg mixture. If you translate oyakodon, it literally means “parent and child bowl” because the chicken and egg are served together. How sweet is that?
I say this all the time---but I never want to take the internet for granted. I am so thankful for having knowledge about ANY SUBJECT at ANY TIME! Can you imagine searching a card catalog / the indexes of library books to find out about other cuisines?

I’m feeling the pressure for the sale dd&i have next weekend. I’ve pivoted from my enameled monstera leaves to tiny nature themed necklaces. So I broke out my torch that I got for Christmas(I was secretly afraid of it) I was successful 50%of the time. So lots of progress. I made beef vegetable soup in between firings. Weirdly it has a mint taste. For the life of me can’t figure out why. One did in Italy and another is in India. Both texting all day. The lines in Italy are long so I guess she has time. jeremysgirl my sister makes an Italian wedding cookie that’s terrible. She’s trying to duplicate our aunt’s recipe-which she has but doesn’t follow. They’re hard as rocks. At Molly’s wedding no one ate them. I’ve stopped trying to be nice and am just direct when she asks if she should make them. I always say no but she still does. Her clothespin cookies are to die for though. BTW did those broth balls get there yet? Great picture don. Enjoy your Turkey dinner. leannec I’d bet money she doesn’t wear one of your dresses and you end up at the mall. My kids wouldn’t wear mine except maybe molly.
