DS made it up safely. However, he said it was the second worst trip ever and, if he had know it was going to be that bad, he would have waited until tomorrow. Passed an accident on the freeway that had happened and the CHIPS hadn't arrived yet. I'm just glad he's here and he's safe.

don, I too said Berla's name incorrectly. I apologize for that. I truly hope that you're getting some comfort from your children and grandchildren, as well as friends.

I've got to say I haven't met an Italian wedding cookie (my grandmother called it a pecan puff) that I like anyway. They all seem dry to me. I have a twist of them I make with cream cheese. And that seems to moisten them up. But I put a glaze on them too.
The broth bombs shipped today. So I can't wait to try them. I'll let everyone know how they are. I'm pretty excited to try them.

leannec ...cute wreath! Have you started "Selling Sunset" yet? Anyone else here watch it? I *HATE* the music in between scenes, do you? I hate that cheesy music so much that I hit MUTE as soon as it starts. Ugh, Nicole is just the *worst*--why did they even bring her on the show? I LOVE the outrageous FASHION, though! I also love "Selling the OC"--anyone else? I had a very hard day yesterday, so I enjoyed watching the mindless, silly catfights and Chelsea's ONE LEGGED PANTSUIT !!! I'm only one episode in so I haven't seen the arrival of Nicole or the pantsuit! The shoes that Chelsea wears always crack me up! I love all of the versions of this show!

leannec I’d bet money she doesn’t wear one of your dresses and you end up at the mall. My kids wouldn’t wear mine except maybe molly. You were right! My dresses all had sequins because I like stuff like that ... she's not into being flashy! But the dress she did buy, even though it is solid black, has a cutout on each side which I find to be more attention grabbing than a few sequins!

leannec : Saw your post on the stocking stuffers thread. Thanks for the awesome idea. I’m ordering leather engraved bookmarks for my mom, DDILs and my SIL! Maybe I’ll even get one for myself and have DH give it to me for Christmas! I'm thinking to myself ... what? Then I realized that I posted that last year! My memory is terrible! I know my mum still uses hers ... not sure about my dd's ... I love personalized stuff ... etsy is so great ... I bought a super cute personalized first Christmas ornament for my friend ... it has a picture of a pug puppy on it and his name

Hi friends! Checking in a little late tonight.
Bess had her annual check up at the vet this morning. She was scheduled for 9. We got there about 8:38 (we always leave some wiggle room for traffic), and were already out the door before 9. I guess there were a few no-shows. The vet wants her to gain a little weight, so she'll get some extra treats from time to time.
After taking her home, we went to Salvation Army, Michael's, and the grocery store since we decided not to get Chinese tonight.
DH made shrimp alfredo, and I've been scrapbooking all day. I did have my photos organized by how I wanted to cut them out, but he put them in order for me by trip and location.

ntsf did you find fruitcake fruit? My grocery has a full display if you can’t. I can send some. It’s not refrigerated.

teddyw jeremysgirl I need to know more about these broth balls/bombs, please. ALSO: any of you Upper Midwest gals have a recommendation for a good place I can order fresh cheese curds from? I used to visit Wisconsin a lot, but haven’t gone in years and I miss cheese curds. We can’t usually find them around here. —>NEVER MIND!! I found some from Wisconsin on Amazon. They’ll be here next week.

thank you teddyw!! I found what I wanted up in seattle.. some of the problem is I live in SF, where most the clerks in the stores are asian and they had no idea what I was talking about.. and probably few people make fruitcake.. so now up north, I think a lot more people make it.
My daughter and her wife were on their third day on a trek to basecamp at Everest.. unfortunately, they both had altitude sickness, gi issues, and her wife got a lung infection.. so they ended up getting a helicopter back to kathmandu to go to the hospital.. I think she will be ok.
I did go see my sister in law who has cancer.. she probably has less than 8 months to live. it is so sad.
anyway, I will be able to make my fruitcake next weekend.
