For the first time I ordered a fresh turkey. Pick up tomorrow. However our dinner is Saturday (originally Friday but had to be changed due to dd's new job). From my googling, it looks like it's two days max to cook it. I'm thinking I will have to cook it Friday, carve it and reheat it the next day in some broth.
Wondering if anyone has done this and were people still happy with the turkey? Really I just need my parents happy, nobody else really loves it and we will also have ham. But my parents love it.

Cook it and enjoy the next day. Before my allergy I thought next day turkey was the best, especially cold.

I have not, but if I needed to for any reason, I would without a second thought. It may not be exactly how they’d prefer it, but they aren’t the ones cooking, either.

I think if you pick it up tomorrow, and cook it on Saturday morning it will be fine, but that's just me...

Every year our church has a Harvest Dinner and provides turkeys for people to roast and bring back the meat on the day of the dinner. We slowly warm up the cooked meat in electric roasters and add broth as necessary. As long as the turkey wasn't overcooked to begin with, the reheated meat works well.
My MIL on the other hand...she overcooks her turkeys by roasting them overnight. But if that wasn't bad enough, she also warms up the meat to long and too hot. Even the dark meat is a bit tough by the time we sit down to eat a thanksgiving dinner...that's why I volunteer to roast a turkey (in her kitchen) every few years (also so we can have good stuffing because she never does stuffing).

I gave my herb marinade recipe to one of my neighbors. She cooked her turkey the day before she planned on serving it and then carved it and put the slices into the herb marinade mixture. She went ahead and doubled the recipe so that there would be an ample amount. Then the next day she just put the slices covered in the sauce into the oven to warm. She said it was amazingly moist and flavorful. I haven’t done that myself yet, but I can see how it would be perfectly fine since the meat would be sitting in the herb sauce instead of drying out overnight. She did it because she needed her oven for something else on Thanksgiving day. We only had one oven in our kitchens.

Yes last year for Christmas. Cooked the day before. Sliced and put in pan, poured broth over it , reheated. The broth was magic. Turkey was not dry and my picky family did not know it was cooked the day before.
