Hi everyone! ONE MONTH UNTIL CHRISTMAS!!! It's sneaking up on us! I do most of my Christmas shopping online and I am almost finished ... wanted to get it done before I went back to work. . My spare bedroom looks like a tornado hit it ... I lay everything out in piles on the the bed so that I know what I have bought ... for the dd's it still needs to be pretty even - has to be fair!! We are decorating the tree and the condo next Sunday ... had to wait until everyone's schedule's were free. I am going for a 90 minute massage in just over an hour ... can't wait!! Then I'm going to buy some waterproof mascara to wear to my meeting at work on Monday ... I cry when I am in stressful situations and that is the word I would use to describe this ... my anxiety is through the roof! My Health Advisor is going to attend in person to support me which I think is really nice! The meme I posted on Facebook today relates to this situation ... I must say WTF? at least 20 times a day right now! I'm not sure what I will do for the rest of the day ... My girlfriend and I might get together tonight for dinner and Netflix How are you feeling scrapmaven? How are you coping don? What are you up to today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a great Saturday everybody!

We woke up this morning to our first snow of the season. Not a lot, but it was holding and we have had more falling this afternoon.
Today was a normal Saturday. Grocery shopping first up, then I went for a walk before lunch, which turned out to be the correct choice. After lunch, football on TV and knitting for me, reading for DH. We haven’t started Christmas decorating yet - we usually start at the beginning of Advent, which is next weekend. Our local fire brigade has its annual tree sale next Saturday, so we’ll pop down and see what the have. They are also promising glühwein and snacks. DH was looking on Amazon earlier at outdoor decorations as we now have a yard. We also have neighbors down the street who put up an awesome display at both halloween and Christmas, so I think he feels we need to do more than a couple of strings of lights.
Dinner tonight is a very nice looking roast pork roll, with a vegetable and cheese mix in the roll. DH has also put on loads of other vegetables - potatoes, sweet potatoes, beets and parsnips. Possibly (hopefully) there will be gravy too.

We are having honeybaked ham and I am making mac and cheese and green bean casserole (probably) Ooo, I should probably make rolls as well.
We decorate for Christmas about 2 weeks before, so I think it will be Dec 9 or 10 this year.

leannec, I really hope that everything goes well on Monday, so that you have a good fit. What a sh8tshow. sueg, your day sounds really relaxing and cozy. Thank you for asking. I'm feeling so much more human today. In fact, I'm going to decorate my house for the holidays. Dh has to get the buckets down and then I'll go have some fun. Sil is going out shopping to some local places that have interesting gift stuff. Our fridge is bursting at the seams w/rechauffe. Tonight everyone will grab their faves and clear out my fridge. I haven't cooked all week. Poor poor me. hehe. don, how are you doing?

leannec I've just about got Jeremy talked into cutting down a real tree this year. So if we do, we won't go for another couple of weeks. He could put my blow ups outside. We are that trashy neighbor who has had Christmas lights on our house for three years now. So that's done. Maybe time to turn them on. Michigan is playing Ohio State today so we will be watching the game in just a bit. Jeremy has a friend in town so he will go meet up with his buddies tonight. I'll probably have toast and eggs. scrapmaven so glad to hear you are feeling better. 😘

Nothing exciting happening today - just laundry, vacuuming, etc.
The outdoor decorations are up but I won’t do the inside for a couple more weeks. Our house isn’t that big and the tree makes the living space even smaller.
Supper will be more chicken wraps.

Happy post-Thanksgiving!
I'm working around the house today getting ready for DS's visit at the end of next week. I'm taking down the fall decor and getting out my Christmas decorations. We put my tree up last week so it's been ready to be trimmed. My mom and I will do it tomorrow after getting our hair done. I really need to clean my car but will probably do that next week during lunch hour.
I'm thinking of takeout Thai tonight as I'm tired of cooking. I did DoorDash last night and might do it again tonight!
Hope you all have a great weekend!

leannec hope everything goes well for you on Monday. scrapmaven I'm glad you are feeling better today and up to doing some decorating. It's been a lazy day and still in my pajamas having coffee and enjoying my Christmas lights on my tree. I did bake some blueberry muffins this morning. Other then that no other plans. For dinner we are having whatever we can find in the refrigerator. My cousins brought us turkey and fixings on Thursday that we did not eat, so we might have that.

Happy Saturday!
We have been out for a drive this morning. DH and I are looking for a house to rent next summer to bring all of kids and grandkids down for a week. We have it narrowed down to two. He wants to get out on the lake later and see them from the water. It’s too cold and windy for me to do that.
My mom wants to decorate her house one last time for Christmas. They are always at my house in IN but she enjoys it for a few weeks. Dad is pitching a fit but I told him if it makes her happy we will decorate today. So we are watching college football and putting up some decorations.
Not sure what our dinner plans are. We still have enough to eat from Thanksgiving but I have a feeling mom wants to cook.

Dinner tonight will be last night’s plan. The turkey breast wasn’t ready because the oven shut off at some point.
I don’t want to decorate for Christmas. My house will be in total chaos soon because my daughter and granddaughter are moving out! Dd and her boyfriend are buying a condo and moving just after Christmas. I’m having a ton of work done right after they move out including replacing almost all flooring and painting all walls

Hi Everyone, leannec Good for you going for the massage. Yes, you have to make sure everything is even with the siblings. Although this year, we are not following it because ODS needs a new phone. We are going to get him a 14. I hope that your meeting goes well on Monday. sueg Your dinner sounds delicious. I know how your DH feels about decorating outside. We have been doing it for years. And this year, all of the neighbors have beat us to it. DH is grumpy about not having it done yet. I just asked ODS to help him today. But who knows if it will happen today. littlemama Your dinner sounds great. scrapmaven You don’t know how thrilled I am that you are feeling so much better! Enjoy your decorating. jeremysgirl It sounds like a nice low-key day for you. taylortroop Excitement is over-rated. Tearisci Your day sounds lovely. Enjoy your time with your Mom decorating for your son’s visit. ntsf I hope that traffic is clear for you to run your errands. bklyngal62 Your day sounds perfect for me. stormsts Awe. I am so glad that you are so supportive of your Mom decorating one last time. I hope that she and your Dad enjoy it. KelleeM Good for you getting new flooring and repainting your place. I hope that you love it when it’s done. Are you just going to do minimal decorating this year for Allie? cadoodlebug Enjoy spending time with your guys! don Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. tanya2 Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Today, ODS brought the gingerbread boxes up for the kitchen. I am going to decorate the hutch and table this weekend. Then, when the boys come home for break, we will put up the tree and the Christmas village. I am moving slower this year and know my limits. Tonight the boys are having rechauffe and DH and I are going to Friendsgiving at DH’s friend’s house. I hope all of you have a peaceful rest of the day.

leannec...reading your post from the other day, I'm so sorry for all your job stress! stormsts...Wow! So happy your family is okay! Amazing after their car rolling several times! Car accidents are my worst fear. cadoodlebug.... Happy bull-lated....errrr.... belated Anniversary to you and Mr. Doodle! scrapmaven...I hope you're feeling A LOT better after your ER visit! @rhymeswithpurple....I hope your hubbs continues to improve and that you don't also get sick. We had a nice T'giving, even though I missed seeing our families. I also got a bit vaklempt when we were enjoying dinner, remembering how much my Dad LOVED the turkey with all the yummy sides. We used to talk about having a mid-year T'giving dinner, and he was so looking forward to it, but he died before I could make it for him. Anyhoo, I enjoyed all the cooking, but I had 2 bad headaches. We watched our FAVORITE movie of all time ( "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles" ) was fun as always, and since it was between headaches, even more fun! We'd been quoting the movie, laughing our heads off, and then...bam! Another bad headache! It's probably because of the damn weather that was coming. Then Friday, was going great....we were out grocery shopping (which I love!) and BAM.....another headache *and* my hip that has the piece of bone that chipped off was killing me. Many hours later, after sitting on ICE for the stupid chipped hip and a lovely head/neck shoulder massage from DH......ANOTHER headache! Today started horribly! Woke up with a hellacious headache AND both of my *NEW* hips (and other joints) killing me....WHY??? I should NOT have pain in brand new hips! It HAS to be the damn weather! Oh top of that, I dreamed about my sweet Meaty and my nephew....AGAIN! I hate it when I wake up and realize they're not here anymore. But therapy AND grief support groups help. I often think of people who have a lot of medical issues, grief, depression, etc. whose partners can't handle it, and leave. I have told hubbs many times that I wouldn't blame him if he did.

Dh went to a few craft fairs with me. We were tired and hungry so picked up Peter’s burgers and a milkshake on the way home. Mmmmmm, Peter's ... I can eat about half a burger and then I'm full! (No shakes for me ... they don't agree with me ... so sad!) Nothing like eating in a parking lot filled with seagulls! Oh, you took it home ...

I'll be taking DH to the airport (not the close one unfortunately) to fly out for a workshop he's attending for his job. But we need to leave the house around our usual dinnertime and will not be back for at least 1.5 hours. So it will be an early dinner for DS and I (he's home from visiting his cousins) and DH is only having a small snack before his flight. I think DS and I will have the last of the Thanksgiving leftovers.
DH & I spent the morning doing errands, laundry (me), and packing (him), but then snacked all afternoon while we watched the Buckeyes lose to Michigan (boo-hoo). DH is not happy with his flight time because it means he will completely miss all of the Florida-Florida State game.
While DH is on his business trip, DS & I have some meals planned to make things that DH doesn't care for, so we'll probably shop & finalize the planning for those tomorrow. Chili is coming soon! I've been craving it and we decided to wait to have it until DH was out of town since he doesn't eat it. We'll also likely have salmon one night, and maybe crab cakes.

Nothing like eating in a parking lot filled with seagulls! I'd LOVE that, because it'd mean I was at the BEACH !!! Welll.....the rain FINALLY started, so now I am PAIN-FREE! Hopefully no more headaches until the next barometric pressure changes. Nothing like cooking and/or baking to block out any negativity! Decided to make my sister-in-law's famous mac -n- cheese. I've tried several recipes, but always go back to hers. The reason I LOVE hers is that it has dijon mustard (adds a GREAT flavor and *kick*), green chiles, and Del Monte Mexican stewed tomatoes. And of course, lots of extra sharp and Vermont white cheddar. This will be sweet wittle Beatrice later

Your Dollar Store with More in Dalhousie station is a fun place to shop for tissue paper etc I'll have to check it out for gift bags! Better than battling Beacon Hill/Heights Dollarama ... I bought a bunch of big packs of white tissue paper at Michael's the other day ... should last awhile!

I'd LOVE that, because it'd mean I was at the BEACH !!! Nope ... we live on the bald ass prairie ... no beach in sight ... This is a parking lot beside the take-out only food establishment (that is a Calgary landmark) ... your view is of an alley and the Trans-Canada Highway ... not much of a highway here ... lot's of traffic lights and 50 km hour. I've been eating burgers at Peter's Drive In since I was a kid ... it's changed owner's but it's still OK ...

I had a butterflied leg of lamb in the fridge, so at the last minute I decided to chuck it in the slow cooker for dinner. It was too much for just DSO and I, so I invited my dad and stepmum over for dinner. I also did crispy roast potatoes and pumpkin, Dutch carrots, broccolini, cherry tomatoes. A couple of days ago I mentioned to DSO that Americans mainly eat mashed potatoes at Thanksgiving etc, instead of roast potatoes, and they use pumpkin as a sweet dish rather than savoury. So when I asked him whether I should try crispy smashed potatoes instead of my normal roast potatoes, he said "Why don't you do mashed potatoes instead?" Then we looked at each other and both said "Nah!" People here would be shocked if anyone tried to serve mashed potatoes with a roast dinner!

scrappintoee (and lucyg who asked yesterday) - DH is definitely getting better. He had some hip pain earlier, but nothing some Aleve couldn't handle. I think that the pain was the result of sleeping on the couch the past few days. He said he'll come back to bed tomorrow. And we'll let Bess around him again too. She has missed snuggles and pets from her favorite person. We had pierogies and fruit again for dinner. I'm going to make wedding soup for dinner next week, so I'll head to the store tomorrow - it's got the protein from the meat and various veggies that will be good for DH. I'll also get more pineapple since it's DH's favorite fruit right now. AussieMeg I've not had lamb, but all of that looks tasty! I love potatoes in every form (well, apart from vodka).

scrappintoee, if I were to tell you that I told dh that he should leave me, because I'm ill and in pain would you agree? Somehow I think you'd feel sad to hear that and agree w/me that if he left due to my illness and pain then he wouldn't be much of a man. Instead, he rallies around me and we find ways to enjoy our life, despite my limitations. Sounds like you're moving around a bit more. Of course, as chronic pain patients we can predict the weather w/our bones and joints. Still, you feel better once the rain sets in and that's when you do more. It's a balance, right? So, please stop telling your dh to leave. He's a good man and he loves you dearly. Instead of asking him why he doesn't leave ask him what he wants to do w/the limited energy that you have? Find ways to make the best out of the moments where you're not in agony. You are very lovable and you deserve to be loved and cherished. Being in pain or ill doesn't make you any less worthy of the good stuff. Now, go tell your hubby that you love him and you're very grateful to have a great dh. FTR-I think you're a really kind, lovable person.
