Hi everyone! I'm just getting ready to meet my mum at Denny's for breakfast. . I am actually a bit hungry this morning, which is unusual so I don't know what I will have! After that, I need to pick up a few things at the grocery store and iced tea, without the ice, from Starbucks. No other plans for the day unless my girlfriend comes over for dinner and Netflix ... This is what I posted on Facebook today ... if I want to see and entire movie or episode of a TV show i have to sit at the kitchen table to watch ... the sofa is too comfortable and I am asleep within minutes! I have chronic insomnia so this is especially weird but there is no way I'm sleeping on the sofa every night! I draw the line there! How is everyone feeling today? What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a relaxing Sunday everybody!

Happy Sunday!
Today my mom and I are going to get our hair done. We always take mimosas with us and make it a little party with the girls.
After that, we're going to decorate my tree and then head over to my sisters for Thanksgiving leftovers.
I was up early and got my car washed and cleaned it out for DS's visit later this week. It definitely needed it!
Hope you all have a great day!

Happy Sunday! Tearisci, that sounds like so much fun. What a blast. As long as your hairdresser doesn't finish her cocktail before your haircut it's all good. leannec, enjoy your breakfast. How is your mom doing? Ods, is heading home. Yds, sil and I are heading to an escape room in a while. Sil has never done an esape room, so this should be really fun. I already prepared her to feel really stupid. Yds is recovering from his concussion, but still gets symptomatic, so we're not sure how the escape room will go. We need his brain cells in order to escape the room. Dinner will be air fryer chicken sandwiches and crash hot potatoes. If I have some energy I might attempt macaraons, again. I bought some special spatulas and baking supplies just for that purpose. Have fun, relaxing and great day!

Good morning. Rainy Sunday here so probably spending time in the scraproom. Dinner tonight is a turkey casserole - turkey and gravy topped with stuffing and dotted with chunks of canned cranberry. I'll serve leftover butternut squash/Brussels sprouts with it. DD17 will probably make her own dinner since she hates every ounce of ours tonight. leannec - enjoy breakfast. Good luck tomorrow Tearisci - have fun! scrapmaven - hopefully your DS's concussion heals soon and completely. Enjoy the escape room

Another cold and snowy day here today. With the Christmas Markets opening this weekend or tomorrow, it is perfect timing! This morning was church as usual, with my First Communion class beforehand. We did well today - actually finished the entire lesson from the books in the session time, so no ‘homework’ this week. I am sure the parents will be happy. We had our main meal for lunch today - chilli with tortillas and other ‘taco’ fillings. DH wasn’t sure if he was going out for dinner, so it worked out easier to do things that way. Dinner will be toasted sandwiches or soup. After a big lunch, I’m not hungry at all right now.
I hope everyone has a lovely Sunday and a great week.

I’m just finishing a delicious salad for lunch with turkey and avocado in it. Dinner is going to be the one pot creamy sausage pasta we had last week. It was a hit with everyone.

My dinner will be the last round of turkey leftovers, Turkey Tetrazzini...although I'm sure there will be leftovers from that😱😱😱
I have the final raking and bagging of leaves from the front of the house to get done as I think the last yard waste pick up is tuesday.
I am working tonight, and a nap in in the plan for this afternoon, especially since I was called in last night, so sleep disrupted by 3.5 hours

leannec, enjoy your breakfast. How is your mom doing? She's doing OK ... slowly healing ... she's on strong painkillers so that is helping a lot ... she goes to PT a couple of times per week and that is helping too!

Somehow I managed to sleep in until 8:15 this morning, which is highly unusual for me. When I got up, DH was chilling in the lazy boy and Walker was chilling on the couch. Apparently I hadn’t missed much!
My moms car battery was dead yesterday so we boosted the car and brought it home to put on the charger. This afternoon we will take it back to her. I’ll stop at the grocery store to get some pineapple that I’m still craving daily.
Supper will be grilled steak.

DS left this morning and DH and I just got back from our walk/hike. It was so much fun having him here for 8 days but now I need to get busy with all the stuff I put out while he was here. He'll be back for over a week at Christmas. No leftovers for us ~ we might have horseradish meatloaf.

A warm day outside today as the windows are open at my place. Very quiet outside.
Last night I was catching up on Facebook friends' posts and realised that there is going to be several babies arriving in 2024. So today I've been puttering in my sewing room and finished sewing a border on a smaller quilt, so that is now ready for the long-arm. Found another smaller quilt and finished that up as well.
Found a cute quilt kit that will make a cute baby/floor mat quilt. I still call them *baby quilts* but do realise that they are most likely being used for "tummy time" on the floor or as a stroller cover blanket or car-seat covering.
The apple & brie stuffed chicken was very good so that will be on repeat tonight along with a salad.
I have made the following cookies in preparation for the Christmas season ~ rolled out sugar cookies (I use powdered sugar instead of granular sugar & these melt in your mouth), Zimtsterne (German cinnamon stars), Ginger Molasses cookies rolled in Coarse Sugar, Cream cheese pastries with seedless raspberry or apricot jam filling.
I need a chocolate cookie so will probably do Chocolate Crinkles (rolled in powdered sugar before baking) or a chocolate thumbprint with a glaze cherry in the middle. I like lemon so a lemon snowball with finely chopped pecans is delicious.
I have made triple chocolate brownies and will also make Nanaimo bars, Magic Bars with sweetened condensed milk and a blonde brownie.
I'm thinking of making mini pecan butter tarts or a buttertart square.
The fruitcake is mellowing with the weekly douse of booze. I have a delicious dark rum from Cuba that has an excellent flavour.
Has anyone else started their Christmas baking? What is going into the oven at your home?

Has anyone else started their Christmas baking? I don't bake. I'm a pretty good cook but baking makes me mental!

We arrived home about 30 minutes ago. We wanted to get ahead of the holiday traffic so we left my parents before 5am. We made fabulous time until 3 hours from home. It started raining and that stretch is always busy. Stopped by my brother’s to drop off a few things and check on them. Got 10 minutes from home and the rain changed to snow. No! I am not ready for this.
I’m going to unpack and start laundry. I thought I might go to the grocery store but I have already talked myself out of it.
We stopped and got a pizza for lunch/dinner.

Has anyone else started their Christmas baking? What is going into the oven at your home? I don't bake but used to have an annual cookie exchange for about 25 years in my old town. I always made pralines for it. It was loads of fun and I was always awed at the hostess gifts the gals would bring me. Some of my favorite holiday pieces. But, my mom was a great holiday baker. I have wonderful memories of Mexican Wedding Cookies (I think they go by different names ~ round balls with pecans and rolled in confectioners sugar), apricot preserves in dough that crossed over (sorry for the description but they were melt in your mouth wonderful) and several others that I can't remember. Sweet memories of my mom.

We used to do annual cookie baking and decorating with my SIL... and then this summer, they moved to Texas. So that tradition has come to an end.
We had wedding soup and bread for dinner. I'll defrost some rolls tomorrow when we have it. I'm pleased with how the recipe came out, and DH enjoyed what he could taste of it. Definitely one for the rotation. We'll probably have some fruit later tonight since we ate early.

cadoodlebug ....I just saw the ADORA-BULL meme you posted yesterday----OMG---LOVE IT !!! scrapmaven ...Thank you for your very kind perspective! (P.S. I don't actually SAY that to him often, but I *think* it during the extra hard times ). I ended up actually getting ANOTHER bad headache last night, and was shocked since the rain had started. Then started crying again looking at pics of all of our doggies, Dad, and nephew. But---at least I am getting help with therapy and grief support group. My bestie is throwing a surprise party today for a dear friend of ours. I wish I could have gone, but I'll enjoy the photos. Dinner.....hmmm? Dh is out running errands and will probably surprise me with takeout, OR, the mac -n- cheese I made yesterday with some veggies and ? for protein.

leannec ....I hope your meeting tomorrow goes BETTER than anticipated! Ohh, I love that cute meme---we used to call our sweet little pug "Grogu" or "Baby Yoda" and that was his Halloween costume. AussieMeg...Your dinner pics from yesterday looked so scrumptious (as always!) I lol at you and DSO saying "NAH!" about trying mashed potatoes.

We went to a concert last night (Sunday). It started at 5pm and finished at 10pm, so our dilemma was what to do about dinner. We got there at 4pm and had a late lunch/early dinner. I had fried chicken with ranch dressing and fries.
And here I am mid morning Monday. Where did the weekend go?! 😫

quiltz... WOWWW! That is a LOT of scrumptious goodies! The people you're giving them to will be very happy! The other day, you mentioned the nice pool where you live, and the exercise instructor---If I had that, I'd probably be there every day!! I'm getting ready to re-join the YMCA where I used to swim laps a few times a week. I have missed it and cannot WAIT to start again! Hubbs did indeed surprise me with Chinese...yum!

We had roast pork dinner with cracklingI'm assuming "crackling" is crispy skin? Sounds yummy, and something I should NOT be eating, but it would be tempting. AussieMeg ...I like how UK peeps call it "roast dinner." I'm boring and just say "roast." cadoodlebug...Your meme cracked me UP and reminded me of my Dad. Even though I usually hated his temper tantrums, *sometimes* it was funny, and my siblings and I still laugh about the many memories we have of Dad getting mad about the littlest things.

Love all the pictures, looking good!
DS leaves at a very early hour tomorrow so my sleep will be lacking. But it's been nice having him for another day.
DH and I streamed some videos and church today and I slept in which was nice. DS worked from home today. It's made it convenient for longer visits. He's playing his sax right now which brings back lots of memories of concerts and gigs.
We are grilling steaks along with baked potatoes and butternut squash with Sage and Parmesan for send off dinner.

But it's been nice having him for another day. I just texted DS that, after his being here for 8 days, it's always sad to walk into the garage and see his car is gone. But, it's okay because I know he'll be back on the 23rd of December.

Hi everyone! I have been here reading, just haven't really felt very chatty, But I'm trying to keep up with you all. Partly it's been a really emotional few weeks for me, up and down, with at least a couple tears every day at some point. Usually triggered by a song on the radio or something I see on tv that makes me sad. But also partially I haven't been chatty because I've been so stinking busy that by the time I get on here it's late in the evening - like now. Between work, trying to get the house decorated for christmas, and those 2 courses I'm taking I have very little free time anymore. DD put up the trees for me and put out a lot of decorations, but I still need to put the ornaments on the tree, and go through all the decorations she didn't put out. I also need to get my christmas shopping sorted out! We've all decided it's going to be a much more low key holiday this year. And DD's puppy demands a lot of attention too. Today we had enough free time to take him to the dog park before it started to rain, that was fun. He always gets a starbucks pup cup as a treat after a dog park run. But I have been trying to keep up with what is going on with everyone here. I hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving with loved ones. don I've really been thinking about you and hope you are holding up ok. The holidays are going to be so tough this year, and I definitely sympathize. leannec I'm hoping your meeting at work on Monday goes well. I just cannot believe they are still trying to push you to teach math and science even after everything that has happened. I hope you're able to work it out I hope all the peas who have been battling illness and injury are starting to be on the mend.
