Did you donate? Any charities you would recommend? We give donations to my parents every year and I’m always looking for different places. I'm looking for a literacy program or an organization that donates books, either local to my parents in CT or a national organization. eta - I heard about this organization on PBS last year and donated to them in my parents' name (they're big supporters of PBS & NPR) oneacrefund.org/donateThis organization is local to me, they help make sports and recreation available and accessible for everyone www.nepassage.orgThis organization was recommended in an article in The Washington Post, they provide care for vulnerable populations diring national and international crisises samufirstresponse.org

I give to various charities during the year. For me donating $$$ during the expensive Holiday season doesn’t make sense.

St. Jude is our favorite charity, not just because they are local.
The hospital does so much not only to treat children with cancer for FREE, but parents are given transportation, housing, food, etc, at no cost so that they can focus on their sick child without worrying about money.
I know at least 2 children who have been treated at St. Jude (different types of cancer), and both have survived and thrived.
Plus, they are doing amazing research that they share with other hospitals/scientists.

I donated to our local food bank, our local diaper bank, to a ski museum and to Juniper fund.. which supports families of sherpas killed climbing in nepal.
later I will donate to dd's old private high school, the small agency that provides legal advice for students with special needs and my church's larger disaster fund.
these things have meaning for me... so that is where I put my money.

I have some automatic monthly donations set up. They are local places that will have the greatest impact on my community. Currently, I give to a no-kill animal shelter, a local food bank, a local summer camp and various others as they pop up throughout the year.

I donate every month to a local community assistance program, just like it's a bill. DH and started it during the pandemic. It's an organization with a food shelf, Meals on Wheels, the ability to offer bus passes, and rental assistance.
I also occasionally donate to other organizations, but it's more random. I don't do anything special on Giving Tuesday.

This year I didn't participate on Giving Tuesday because the NP that I support get monthly donations. I give to Heifer International, Planned Parenthood, local organization that has a food pantry, dental clinic, medical clinic and a clothes closer. I also donate to Project Linus, Family Place (women's shelter)and an organization that gets soap to improvised 3rd world locations. (Eco-Soap Bank)

I have automatic monthlies to World Central Kitchen and a local organization serving homeless women with children. I also donate throughout the year to several local animal shelters, my synagogue and other Jewish organizations and whatever comes up through my family or friends. I send items through Amazon when a local foster youth program and the local animal shelters put out their wish list needs that are urgent.

I also give to Roswell Park Cancer Institute, saved my DH.
