My BFF who lives in another state, is here in my town to help look after her MIL, who had a stroke. She is doing good, so that's a blessing. Anyway, I am going to MIL's house tomorrow to see my friend. Should I take a little something for the MIL? A plant, flowers, etc? A little Christmas decoration? Thanks!

I would definitely take a little happy. Flowers are nice in that they don't require long term care like a plant would. Perhaps a bouquet that works for Christmas?

You can never go wrong with a thoughtful gesture. 😊

Yes, I would especially since it is the holiday season. My favorite gift when I visit my friend's mother is fruit. Peaches in summer, apples in winter.

I would def. take something. What about a potted poinsettia? I believe they are toxic to animals, so that would be a consideration. Some of the incredibly soft, melt in your mouth truffles that come two boxes to a pack at Costco?
I love @peano's advice, "You can never go wrong with a thoughtful gesture".

Of course, you should take something to lift her spirits. How about a nice holiday bouquet?

I think it's sweet that you thought of the MIL and I know she will appreciate whatever little gift you choose.

We have edible arrangements here in Canada. You could order an arrangement in a mug. My Mother in law could not accept fresh flowers due to allergies

I vote for flowers. I was just at Trader Joe's and they had poinsettias for $6.99 (in CA). Or their orchids are always good for a gift.

I’m sure that such a kind gesture would be much appreciated.

If she just had a stroke she may have some physical limitations that could make caring for a live plant more difficult, so I would go with cut flowers or maybe even silk ones that she could keep forever or regift/donate if/when she’s tired of them.
