They shipped an NFL shirt I got for my DH for Christmas in a clear bag! And it did not say clear bag on the page. And guess who got the package! Thank goodness it wasn't a big gift, but still. A little heads up would have been nice!

That’s so annoying isn’t it. Same thing happened to me- one of Dh’s gifts arrived in a cardboard box with a picture of the item on the outside 🙄

Ds ordered a pair of pajama pants for a secret santa exchange and they came in a clear bag as well. Hopefully they dont do that with kids' items!

That's so disappointing! I've never received anything from Amazon in a clear bag. It's always in a box or a black bag. Oh, except for the 60 roll pack of toilet paper that I get from Amazon! They don't bother putting that in a box or bag. But it's not like I'll be buying that for anyone for Christmas anyway!

Annoying at anytime of the year, but especially this time of year.

I’ve never had Amazon ship something in a clear bag and they have always let you know when the box is reflective of what’s inside. Bad moves Amazon. Seriously, who approved that idea? I’m sorry the surprise was ruined. Hopefully he was happy? Maybe he can wear it to watch a game before the big day? Don’t non playoff teams play their last games before Christmas?

Hahaha I never through of that! I am now envisioning 60 rolls of toilet paper rolling down our driveway and out onto the road! Mind you, I'm glad I don't have to dispose of a box that's big enough for a 60 roll pack of TP - it would take up my whole recycling bin!

But they make great donation boxes, so big and sturdy, so we usually reuse them for that.

I had some clothing shipped in a clear bag a few months ago and I thought it was weird! I’m sorry that happened.

I did the chat thing and told them I was not happy. They offered me a $10 credit to buy my husband a new surprise.

DH had the same thing happen with the Cricut he's giving me for Christmas. I had no idea I was getting one until it arrived on our front porch in a well-marked "CRICUT" box, in spite of the fact that he specifically asked for it to be delivered in an unmarked box. He was not pleased at all.

I've been getting more and more packages like this. They always throw things over the gate into the courtyard so they don't get stolen but the last 2 clothing items in clear bags had ventilation holes in the bags. One got soaked because the drain is right by where they threw it and they threw the other one in cat poop so that was a fun surprise.

I had one of DH's presents arrive just in its original box, not in a plain package, a couple of weeks back. They just slapped the address label on the box and sent it. DH was away that week, so it didn't matter in that sense, but the box was slightly damaged in transit, which means it doesn't look as nice as it should. I know DH has ordered something for me that will be sent to our home address and arrive today or tomorrow. I hope it is in a plain package! Normally, he would get gifts sent to his work address, but with it being so close to Christmas, he didn't want to risk it arriving late and going to an office shut down for the break.

I’m sorry your surprise was spoiled. I haven’t had anything come in a clear bag yet. Plenty of items in those white bags though. Most delivery people put my packages next to my front door, well protected by the porch roof. There was one delivered last week that the delivery guy put at the top of the walkway, inches from being under the porch roof. And it was raining. Thankfully my pup lets me know when any delivery comes so it was only in the rain for a minute, but what a stupid and lazy thing to do. A few more inches and it might have gotten a bit wet when the wind blew the raindrops, but it would not have gotten soaked from overhead rain. I may put a small table on the porch just for packages. If I put a sign on it instructing them to put packages on the table, they might follow through. It would not be seen from the street because of a large bush.
Isn’t there the ability to mark a package as a gift on Amazon? I assumed that was there to make sure an item was sent in something that hid the contents. Are those of you getting clear packaging clicking on that?

I ordered my DD a calendar, you tear off a page every day and it eventually reveals a panda. She is majoring in Chinese at school, and thought it would be so fun. It's coming from China. Well I got a message from the seller saying it's been lost in transit, do I want a refund or them to resend it? The contacted me thru Amazon. So I also replied back to them using the Amazon interface. They never replied, so I looked at the same item from the same seller, which claims it will be here Dec 29-31, so I reordered it. Today I got a message and it said (right below the messages where I asked for them to resend) "since you havent replied, we are going to send this to you again." WTF! I hate that I cannot message the seller directly, or I thought I had but do they not see? So now I have 2 coming. I will return the other one - I just need one to get here!!! So annoying!

I HATE it when the slap the label on the original box! They've done that to DH before, it was a lego set and he collects lego, so he reordered and sent back the one with the huge ass sticker on it (we tried to remve the sticker but it was damaging the box). They recently did this with a puzzle too, slapped the sticker right on top of the puzzle picture!!!! The whole other side was blank! I was annoyed, but we were able to get that sticker off.

A thin glass Christmas ornament I ordered was put in one of their brown recyclable envelopes. It arrived to me in about 4 different pieces. Why would you put a shoebox in another box *with* bubble wrap, but just throw an obviously breakable ornament in nothing but a brown bag?!

A friend ordered a fuzzy duvet cover off of DD’s wish list and while it didn’t come in a clear bag, it did come with a nice puncture hole that went through BOTH bags and I could see fuzzy pink in the hole. And of course the delivery driver didn’t put it in the clearly marked deck box for packages on our porch, he tossed it right in front of our front door. And of course DD was the one to get home first and brought it in. I don’t know if she saw the hole in the bag or not because it was addressed to me so she might not have looked too closely. I also don’t know if the cover was dirty or damaged because of the hole, because the thing was shrink wrapped so tight I knew if I unpackaged it I probably wouldn’t have a box big enough to put it back into after it expanded. Time will tell.

And it’s just happened again at my house! I just took delivery of one of my gifts from Dh. Luckily it’s an ‘extra’ and was able to make it look like I hadn’t seen it but 🤷🏼♀️

I’ve noticed on some items I’ve ordered they have a checkbox that you have to check if you want it in Amazon packing. Otherwise it says it will ship in the original box. Hope that helps!

I ordered a Lego set for DD (at nearly 18, lol) as a special surprise, *made sure to check the box saying ship in a brown box and not ship in its own packaging*, and guess what came without a box? Yep, the Lego set. The really crummy part is that Lego has always been for DS, but this one is clearly for DD because it's an EMS/fire/police station set, which is her interest. And yes, of course she saw it. Argh.

Funny you should post this, because for the first time last week when ordering a gift for my cousin's youngest, it showed up on the ordering info that it came in a clear bag and asked if I wanted it put into a box. I ticked the Yes box, thinking what a good idea that was. I had never seen it before. I'm sorry you didn't get that option.

Sometimes the screen will show an option to ship in packaging vs. a clear bag. I really think the clear bag idea is stupid.

I ordered an advent puzzle as a gift and they just slapped the to sticker on the front of the box right in the middle of the picture. I don’t mind the shipping label on the puzzle box but at least put it on the bottom not in the middle of the picture.
A lot of people use that as a guide even if there is a print of it inside. I didn’t think I was going to get it off without damage. It took awhile but I did finally get it all off. There was some sticky residue left on the box but it was the best I could do.

I sort of wish companies would have blank brown boxes during the holiday shipping season. I cannot tell you how many things I have ordered for DH and there is the huge name of the place plastered on the box on the porch so he can't NOT see it!

Why would you put a shoebox in another box *with* bubble wrap, but just throw an obviously breakable ornament in nothing but a brown bag?! Third time is a charm, I hope. I ordered my DS a CD that he wanted (usually likes vinyl but that's another story) anyway it arrived not in a box but an envelope, cracked cover. Recorder/replacement with explanation as to why. 2nd one, same. although the crack was smaller. 🙄. Third try is due tomorrow. Fingers crossed but wth. Oh, I ordered an adult coloring book (Drinking Animals coloring Book)for niece who likes to color. Same thing, not cracked but creased. 2 times, in envelope only. Discouraging...
