Who has them and do they really help in packing? I know it helps with organization but do they take up less room in your suitcase or more? Trying to decide whether to buy some.

If you search packing cubes there’s about 178 threads on them with Amazon links and everything

I bought some to take on our overseas trip earlier this year. They definitely helped with organising, but I'm not sure that they don't take up any less space in the suitcase - unless you get vacuum sealed ones. (Are they even a thing?)

I love my packing cubes....but i love them for the organization.... i dont have compression cubes so i don't feel like they create more space... or are a space saving thing....
If you got with compression cubes then they should definitely save space

I don't know if they help save space, but they certainly don't take up *more* space. At least not the ones I have. I bought the Amazon Basics ones that are like the parachute-type material.
The organization is what I love. You can just pull out the cube you want and the suitcase stays organized.

I was not impressed with them at all. I found it harder to find things and they only saved space because I had the compression kind. Im not likely to use them again.

They are definitely space savers. You can condense the clothes and if you are going somewhere with multiple stops, just pull out the cube need and everything is in it. They are also great for keeping your clean clothes from the dirty ones if you need that. I really just like not having to dig through my suitcase.

I use them differently depending on how/where I’m traveling - either using cubes to hold specific full outfits or to pack like items together (underwear, bathing suits, t-shirts etc. I’m not sure they save space but I do like them.

My cousin has/had ones that have a valve and you can squeeze out the air. I don't know if they still make those kinds.

They take up too much space for me. I use one to keep undies, socks, bra in, but before cubes I always used a small plastic bag. I have a compression one I will use in my carry on if I have to bring a bulkier sweater. I find the compression style you can't put much in them and things get wrinkled. Same as rolling, gets wrinkled. I just fold my clothes and stack them in my suitcase.
I used to use them when the kids were little. Each person had one for tops, one for bottoms, one for undies pjs. Then after one trip we came home and when putting away the travel stuff I realized how much room the cubes took up in the suitcase.

I am a big fan of them. I have a set of the Amazon basics and like how I can keep everything organized and separate.

I’ve been using mine for about 10 years I’m guessing and I don’t ever want to travel without them.
They don’t save any space at all, but I love being able to reach in and grab the bag with tops and not have to mess up my whole suitcase just to find the top I want.

My mother uses some when she gets ready to go to Florida like she is right now. I was just curious as to whether they took up less space in your suitcase, as opposed to not using them

The regular ones don’t save space but it is so easy to take out something from the bottom of the suitcase without messing up everything else that I truly love them. Before they were a thin* I used to use the very large clear zip lock bags and that worked great too.

I've been using them for years. The compression ones are the best.

I travel for work every other week and have found them to be helpful.
At times though, it seems clothes are a bit more wrinkled when using them vs. not.

Do you pack a whole outfit in one?

I have two sets, one for DH (red) and one for me (purple). DH lays out everything he wants to take on our Europe trips and I do the packing because I'm better at it. I roll almost everything. I label the top of every cube with what is in it. One of my cubes goes in his suitcase and vice versa. Essentials and a change of clothes in case one of our suitcases goes missing. So far our luggage has always arrived with our flight.
I also use my Food Saver to pack underwear, socks, and stuff like that. It really saves a lot of space. For a 21-day trip, that's 3 packs per item. Once you open one, it expands.
We are usually in a hotel anywhere from 1-5 days depending on the tour. The cubes are great because you aren't digging through piles of clothes looking for something. It works great for us.

I don't like the compression ones because you have to keep compressing it every time you remove something.
If I am moving every few days, I tend to organize by outfit. Otherwise I have all shirts together, all unders together etc. I also have a cube that has my pyjamas, and my bag of things I like next to my bed.

Do you pack a whole outfit in one? Some people do, but I don't because mostly I don't know what I'll be wearing on any particular day. And usually I don't change pants every day, and I might have a cardigan type thing that goes over several different tops, etc. So I just organize by what's in them....one for underwear, bras, socks; one for tops; one for bottoms; one for toiletries; etc. I usually take a cardigan (which I probably wear on the plane), a big scarf/shawl (which also might go on the plane with me)... that's about it. I take an extra large cube for dirty clothes, or honestly sometimes I just flatten those in the bottom of the suitcase.

That’s the one thing I wish was improved about ebags, they need a slot for a quick handwritten label!

Speaking of packing cubes, Ebags is have a 60% off their packing cubes right now. Some styles are an additional 10% off.

I really enjoy them for longer trips. I don’t bother with them for weekend trips.
I organize by category in my cubes like tops, bottoms, sweaters/vests/scarves, and so forth. I try to pack mix and match clothing for longer trips and this helps me maximize the ‘mix’ potential.

We travel a lot, like not home for more than two weeks at a time or trips that last for months. We just went on a tour where we were in 11 hotels in 14 days. Then we went to a totally different climate for 10 days. It would have been anarchy without them. I use them differently depending on how/where I’m traveling - either using cubes to hold specific full outfits or to pack like items together (underwear, bathing suits, t-shirts etc. I’m not sure they save space but I do like them. This is exactly what I do. They do save space because you pack each cube tightly instead of forcing the lid down on the whole suitcase. DH doesn't use them. My suitcase always weighs more than his when they're both full and he has trouble zipping his suitcase when I don't. I’ve been using mine for about 10 years I’m guessing and I don’t ever want to travel without them. Absolutely. I usually take a lot of things that go together and put shirts in one and pants in another. I have multiple sets of cubes so I can color-code things. Underwear goes in a small red one; accessories and sleepwear in a small turquoise one, etc.

If you are sharing a suitcase with someone they are great for keeping your own clothes separate. I have put like items together and I have also put outfits together in the cubes. I don’t know if I am able to get more in my suitcase, but I know that I do a much better job of packing when I use them. It’s also much easier for me to find what I am looking for.

I love them. DH and I each have our own color. I use one for undies, socks, nightwear, another for tops, another for bottoms. When flying I usually take a small one with a change of underwear, socks and a top in my carryon in case my luggage goes on a tour of some other place.

I don’t have any but this is how I would use them if I did. We have a three person family and two giant suitcases that we use when we travel. Because DH’s clothes tend to be a lot bigger and heavier than mine or DD’s, his stuff has to be split between both suitcases vs. putting all that weight in one. The last time we traveled (2019) it was a disaster trying to find/ sort out whose stuff was where and I’m sure color coded packing cubes would have helped.

I’m packing for a 2 1/2 week stay in Florida with my mother. And I will also travel back to see her twice so the suitcase and the clothes will stay there. I was just looking for a better way to use the space in my suitcase, not necessarily be able to pull out items as needed because I will have a dresser there that all my clothes will go into plus a closet. So maybe the packing cubes aren’t a good idea for this trip because I won’t be living out of my suitcase.
