What was your favorite read of the year? I read 89 books this year and The Wishing Game by Meg Shaffer was my favorite book. I’ve got the other 5 star reads in the picture below.

There was a thread about this about a couple weeks ago. Let me see if I can find t, and bring it back to the first page so you can read it. There were some great books listed on there.

One of my top books this year was No Two Persons by Erica Bauermeister. It's a story about the idea that no two people experience a book the same way. I really like the way the author connected people and had the story come full circle.
I read this with the Modern Mrs Darcy book club and it was a great discussion and author chat.

I just counted and DH read 43 books in 2023 while I read 48. I'm sure we read more that didn't get to my spread sheet. I'll have to look through them to pick my favorite.

I have seen quite a few friends posting their summary for the year and decided I need to get back to reading. Created a good reads account to keep track of my progress. Started a book this afternoon and am ready half way through it. That is why I haven’t been reading…once I start a book that is all I can focus on. 😂

I had two favorite nonfiction books:
The Wager by David Grann. The Wager tells the story of the shipwreck in 1742 of a British ship on a secret mission to capture a Spanish ship laden with treasure. The Wager wrecked on an island off the coast of Patagonia. Six months later a rag tag group of thirty survivors on a raft washed up on the shores of Chile. They returned to England as heroes. Then a few months later, a group of three survivors washed up in Chile, claiming that the other thirty survivors were not at all heroes, but were actually mutineers. The group of thirty claimed that the other group of three were murderers. A trial was held in England to sort things out. A movie is in the works.
The Art Thief by Michael Finkle The Art Thief is truly one of those stranger than fiction true stories about a man and his girlfriend who walked into museums all over Europe and walked out with millions of dollars worth of art works. The story of how they were finally caught is fascinating. It’s a fast and very entertaining read.
Fiction
Demon Copperhead by Barbera Kingsolver was my favorite fiction read. Demon Copperhead is a modern day retelling of David Copperfield. I was really touched by how forgiving Demon was of the people who cared about him, but weren’t in any shape to help Demon when he was a child and desperately needed help.

I’m going to have to learn that it is okay to stop and finish the next day.

I read 34 books this year. Slow for me. Demon Copperhead was by far my favorite. I actually listened to it and the narrator is the best I have ever heard.
