Mine is a couple of years old. I took a couple decent selfies New Year's Eve so I think I might change mine. I think I change it every couple of years - as I get older and plumper. I like using a photo because I like picturing who I'm talking to, so I thought others might like it too. I get confused when people change their photos/avatars. I don't think I know many people's names here- just the pictures.

I want to change mine so bad, but I'm concerned people would be really upset...hahaha...(I know no one would be truly upset, but still.) I just feel like I don't look like that anymore. That pic was taken 13 years ago. But I agree with you, too, that I prefer faces. I never seem to mind an updated avatar as long as it is someone's face. The icons are a little different. Although I always like how **GypsyGirl** updates hers but always another flamingo shot.

I changed mine a few years ago, because Annabella got on my case with some weird kick about it being an old photo and dishonest. It was my first time changing it, though.
I have a hard time “recognizing” a poster when their profile picture changes, tbh.

Good time to ask this question. I updated my other social media just a few months ago but it had been at least 3 years since I'd updated here. So the profile pic you now see was just taken this morning. I happened to have taken photos for my annual scrapbook page on recapping the past year and setting goals for the new one.

Hardly ever.. I have a cartoon pic which isn't my favorite but I think I have used it so long that people might not realize it's me if I changed it.. not that anyone looks at me.. lol

Although I always like how **GypsyGirl** updates hers but always another flamingo shot. Thanks! And that reminds me....time for a new flamingo! As for the original question, I get confused when people change icons typically and used to never change min. During the pandemic I was bored and decided to start changing up the flamingos. Now I tend to change them for holidays, though I'm always on the lookout for a fun flamingo gif!

My FB profile pic is YEARS old, and it's my family, so all the kids look completely different (no comment on myself and DH lol).
My work profile pic is from at-home covid days.
My personal profile is an olllllllld pic from Cuba that makes me happy whenever I see it. No people in that one, tho.
I don't change the image here on the board because I imagine no one would know who I was if I changed it!

Your post prompted me to update this morning. Never really think about it though so appreciate your post. I like this photo better as it is more casual. My other shot was my professional avatar from work. Looked a little stuffy to me.

I think it took me a while to figure out how to even post a picture to the old board, and then once I did, I never changed it ... and I'm pretty sure this one is the only one I've ever had here ... I guess I'm not really into updating p.s. I'm older than my profile picture might lead you to believe

Mine is a few years old. I was thinking about changing it but need to find an okay picture. I don’t think I photograph well these days.

I've never changed mine. If I did it would just be to another picture of Milo cat to match my name. Maybe I should, I'd still be recognizable, if I'm memorable enough to be recognized.

I've never used an actual photo here. On social media, I change my profile photo every 3-6 months.

Let's put it this way, the baby in my avatar photo is eight years old. I have never tried to be anonymous on here, but I also don't want my posts here to come up in a search, so I don't use an identifiable avatar. On social media, I probably change the photo like every five years, so not much better .

Several years ago I changed mine for about a week because I found an old photo of me that looked similar to my avatar, same pose. Then changed it back. I have used my same Avatar for years and years for my return labels on mail. People who know me have always asked if it was me and how did I make it. It does look like me when I was younger and first started using it.
I think about dragging out a bunch of my favorite photos and changing my avatar once a week or so but so far I have been too lazy to do it. That should be my New Years resolution.

I think my photo here is from 2014 or 2016, I can't remember. I guess I should look for a newer one, but I never think about it.

I’m so glad you started this thread. Last year I tried to change my avatar picture, but the ones I wanted were all too big. In a slight panic, I chose a recent one that included my grandson, who was a baby in my original avatar. I wasn’t crazy about the picture. But, left it because it was a recent picture of the two of us. This one is from last year too. ( if it worked )

I never change it here or on IG, which is also not an actual photo of me.
On fb, I change it every 3-6 months and it's usually a current pic of me though occasionally it's of something else.

I changed it on social media about 4-6 times a year.

I changed mine awhile back when I realized that the one I had was from my 50th birthday. I'm 62 now. So I changed it to one more current- within the last year. But I don't really like it so might change it again soon. I change my Facebook pic maybe a couple of times per year.

I've kept my avatar on this board since it was resurrected from Two Peas. I probably change my profile pic every few months on FB.
Right now, it's a baby hippo because I'm obsessed with them!

I pretty much still look just as I do in my avatar, so I see no reason to change it.

Never. My photo is my sweet girl who went over the Rainbow Bridge a couple of years ago. But like most of you I get used to photos and recognize who they are before I even look at the name. So I figure surely some of you feel the same way about my Simba. I even used another photo of her as my avatar on the Two Peas January fitness jumpstart challenge. lol

I try to change my photo every year or two. I was hoping to get a nice photo on NYE to use, but I'm not really happy with any of them.
ETA: Now that I can see my profile pic, I can see that it is from two years ago. I'm definitely due to change it.

Never. I think if I changed mine here after all these years people might get confused, LOL. I never change it on FB and don’t use a real photo of myself there either. I like to fly under the radar on social media, and in 99.2% of pictures of me I look bad anyway.

I've never changed my profile pic here - it's original to original 2peas. I also thought I'd be anonymous - but know it's probably silly after 15+ years. Someone who wanted to could certainly learn way more than I'd like them to.
I actually just changed my fb pic a year or two ago after 10 years - no really reason other than laziness and then realized just how old the picture was - I'm just not that into social media.
