Hi everyone! Well, my dd's are not able to help me take down Christmas this weekend ... Molly is ill and Emma has work to do to prepare for report cards (something I will never have to do again! ) ... I am going to see if I can bribe my girlfriend into coming over to help me today ... I'm making chili for dinner and she really loves my chili! Crossing my fingers that she says "Yes"! This is what I posted on Facebook today ... a resolution I can be successful with! When it comes to eating junk I usually pick salty over sweet but I am addicted to these Cadbury Milk Chocolate Mint bars right now ... sooo yummy! Are you a salty or sweet junk eater? What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a great Saturday everybody!

Hopefully your friend will come over today leannec. If not valentine's is right around the corner and I'm sure some pink lights would look nice on your white tree! I had an easy morning of crochet/listening to music/reading a book about said music. I just got out of the shower. Jeremy's mom has some furniture she needs moved. Did I tell you she sold her house in the town we grew up in and moved up here? She's living in the same complex as my mom. They are just ten minutes away so we are going to go move her furniture and take her out to lunch at 2. That's kind of a late lunch so who knows what will be for dinner. I do feel like a glass of wine. So maybe just cheese and crackers.

The livingroom is a mess and it’s freezing in here. The hole in the wall for the vent of the old fireplace was much smaller than the one needed for the new fireplace. So DH is sawing through the wall to the exterior brick to create a larger vent hole. There is dust everywhere and it smells like burnt bricks. The heat is shut off because there is a huge hole in the wall and it’s -4 today.
It might seem like I’m complaining but really just venting. I know the new fireplace will look awesome when it’s done. But until then…
Other than the home destruction, not much happening today.
Supper will be pork roast. Maybe?

It was a chilly morning this morning so I stayed in my recliner with a light blanket, a cup of coffee and watched a hallmark movie. No plans for today but would like to work on my planner for next week. leannec I am a salty junk eater. Not much into sweets unless it's ice cream. Hubby is the opposite. Not sure what we're having for dinner, maybe just a tuna fish sandwich.

Cold and rainy here today, so a good day to stay in and knit. I did go out for a walk in the lightest period of drizzle, but was still fairly wet after 35 minutes out in it. Most of the day I have been knitting with various sports programs on TV for background. Our football league here is still on Christmas break, so no real matches, only practice games, but still fun to watch. I have now switched over to ski jumping. I am an equal opportunity snacker. I love gummy bears and chocolate, but also the crunch of crisps. Dinner tonight is lamb steak on the grill with salad. Personally, I don’t think it is proper salad weather, but I am not making dinner so I won’t complain.

Happy Saturday! I am working and it is going to be a slow day. We got our first real snow overnight. People forget from one year to the next what to do when it snows. taylortroop I would have to leave if the heat was turned off. I am sitting in my office now with a space heater on and it is 30 degrees so not really cold. You will have to post pictures when it is finished. Nothing happening this weekend. I am working both days. I plan on going home tonight and putting in an order from Persnickity Prints. Their sale ends Monday and I have a large order I need to place. I am sure DH will want to go out for dinner but in the winter, once I get home from work, it takes a lot to get me to leave the house again. So, no idea what is for dinner.

stormsts it's like a scale with the drag of going out again on one side vs. The drag of cooking a big meal at home. My vote is something snacky at home so you can rest.

Hopefully your friend will come over today leannec. If not valentine's is right around the corner and I'm sure some pink lights would look nice on your white tree! You know what? If I didn't already have a blue colour scheme going in my condo and on the previous white tree, I would totally have gotten a pink tree! Pink is my fav colour! This white tree is seven feet tall and quite wide so it is taking up a lot of real estate in my living room ... it needs to be gone now

I’m currently at karenlou ‘s house for lunch…fish chowder which smells amazing! Our niece and brother are coming as niece and I didn’t get to come for Christmas Karen invited us for lunch! Dinner is baked chicken wings, green beans and a sweet potato for me. DS will probably have mac and cheese from a box (Annie’s is his preference) as he doesn’t care for sweet potatoes.

leannec , I hope that your friend will come over and keep you company tonight. jeremysgirl , ods wrote up the cirriculum for a History of Rock and Roll Class. He was going to teach it at his last school, but since he switched he'll have to get it approved in the future. He does play classic rock in his classroom. For field day he was in charge of karaoke a few weeks ago. He sang the Gig in the Sky, by Pink Floyd. Though ds said it was horrendous, his students loved watching it. The teachers were more into the karaoke than the students. I'm going to attempt to start the video game that dh got me for Christmas. I have to sit up in my office to do it and I hope I can make it last. Sitting is still not fun. I think I'm going to make enchiladas for dh's dinner. I always had a sweet tooth. I would have chosen a chocolate sandwich cookie like E.L Fudge. Now that I can't eat normally, I don't think about cookies. I crave salads. Go figure. sueg , I'm glad to hear that your stepmum is improving. Have a fun day, my lovelies.

scrapmaven he needs to listen to the podcast A History of Rock Music in 500 songs by Andrew Hickey. He will be amazed. Rock nerds like us are awesome. This is the book I'm reading and it complements his podcast on Spotify. Love it. The 90s were my high school and college years.

Hi Everyone, leannec I hope your friend comes over to help. jeremysgirl It sounds great that both of your moms live so close to you and each other. taylortroop Yikes. I wouldn’t last without heat. I am the type to wait until it’s warmer to do a project like the fireplace. But I bet you are going to love it. bklyngal62 You sound like me this morning; minus the movie. sueg Your day sounds perfect for you. I am glad that your Stepmum is doing better. stormsts I hope that your day goes by faster than you think; so you can get home. Have DH order in; so it will be ready for you when you get home. karenlou and KelleeM have a fabulous time together. KelleeM Do you have a date when the remodeling will begin? scrapmaven I hope you are able to play your game for a while. scrappintoee I hope they can do some traction with me. I know it would help me. I love both salty and sweet snacks. I haven’t tried one that I don’t like to eat. Yesterday, I think I had a touch of the stomach flu. I kept going to the bathroom and I took a nap, then proceeded to fall asleep on the couch. I went to bed early. For dinner, YDS made his version of Shepard’s pie. It was the meat and veggies with pasta and no pie. It tasted great and I had no problems after eating it. Today, we are also receiving our first snowfall for the year. The amounts are all over the place. It ranges from 2 inches to 11 inches. I think we are on the cusp and the storm is a moving target. I am going to try and get some Christmas taken down. Here with our hills and curves, driving can be dicey. I hope all of you have a peaceful rest of the day.

We just got back from our freezing walk! You know it's cold when DH wears a stocking cap and gloves. Wind chill is in the high 30's. Walking back into our house it felt like an oven at 67 degrees! jeremysgirl , do your mom and Jeremys mom get along? Will they hang out together? leannec , if your GF says no, you should cut her out of your life after all you've done for her! Sadly, I no longer eat junk food. Dinner tonight will be the last of the Honeybaked Ham, broccoli Madeleine and sweet potato casserole with pecan topping.

Happy Saturday! leannec I hope your chili entices your friend over! I am an equal opportunity snacker, I love both salty and sweet. We have to leave in about an hour for DD's dance rehearsal and I am planning on doing some picture sorting if I can muster up the energy. I have thousands of photos from when we cleaned my parent's house out and I really want to get them digitized but have to get rid of duplicates or it will cost too much money. Plus, I want them organized. Tonight we are going to have lemon chicken, white rice, and roasted veggies (I will have to look at what needs to get used first).

cadoodlebug not only do our moms get along, they have planned a 10 day culinary cruise together for October. Haha...when Jeremy's mom moved in over there, I was like you talked her into moving there so they would be BFFs, didn't you? And he was like, yep so now we'll need to get a divorce. 🤣

Hoping you can find company while you de-Christmas leannec . We just finished taking ours apart, DH and oDS helping me. Haven't got it tucked away yet tho - the boxes are still in my living room. The whole storeroom needs to be re-organized (boxes!) before I can fit the Christmas stuff back in. Maybe tomorrow. .when Jeremy's mom moved in over there, I was like you talked her into moving there so they would be BFFs, didn't you? And he was like, yep so now we'll need to get a divorce. 🤣 love it! Having nearby friends is not only good for single seniors, but also their families who don't have to be all the emotional support! destined2bmom - that is a lot of potential snow! I'm not sure if I'm jealous or not. It's exciting to see a good snow dump, but very very inconvenient. fiddlesticks - my DD did competitive dance and still teaches at her studio twice/week (she's 20, in uni). I am working on a 2017 december journal right now: almost daily dance activity (she only had Dec. 24/25 off because on top of studio stuff she was in a professional production of the Nutcracker) and I certainly notice that we have more time now that she's finished! For lunch, we are scrounging - oDS did breakfast foods, I did chips and hummus, DH did rechauffe. Tonight we are taking the family out for all you can eat Sushi. We all love sushi. DD's BF will come too, but DD will cover the tip so that she's essentially paying for her BF. This is a good place, but the $$ makes me

It’s a quiet day here today as we had friends over last night and we’re up quite late. The bonus is that the house was fully cleaned yesterday and we have lots of leftover finger foods/charcuterie to enjoy today instead of making a meal.
It was the first time DSO and I have entertained other than casual BBQs) since moving in together and we made a good team. He cleaned while I did food prep and we tidied up together once everyone left.
Wishing everyone a relaxing weekend!

Need to head to the airport soon to drop off my daughter - boo! Will miss her like crazy, but she got a job offer about 45 minutes from us! - Send all kind so pick the local option and not one of the offers on the east coast please!!! I know, I know - I will support whatever decision she makes and Boston and NYC are certainly fun in your twenties - although the COL is insane!
Chicken parmesan tonight as a special request from my son - he's stocking away all the favorites while he's still home!

jeremysgirl, it's terrific that your mom's are good friends. Everyone will get along and it's so healthy for them to be able to support eachother. Darcy Collins, NYC or Boston would be lots of fun for a 20something, but I know it'll be hard to have your dd so far away. Perhaps the bright side is to think of the trips you could take to a place w/so much to do.
