I’m amazed at how many of you still have your Christmas decorations up. Mine would be down on Boxing Day if we didn’t have our family dinner that day. As it is, the decorations come down first thing on Dec 27th! I’ve also downsized the amount of decorations that I put up. I don’t think anyone else appreciates them or cares.
Forgot to answer the snack question. Since starting intermittent fasting, I rarely snack anymore. My prime snack time was in the evening while watching tv and now that’s fasting time. I’m still a lover of chocolate though and will have a couple pieces throughout the day (as opposed to a whole bar in the evening). I enjoy plain chocolate with no fillers like nuts, coconut, caramel or other. That stuff just takes up space in the chocolate bar!
For those monitoring the weather in my house due to the hole in the wall, it’s now 65 degrees F. I’ve done well up to this point but I might need to put on some mittens soon.

Happy Saturday!
Today my sister and I met with a support group called Caregiving Heroes for those dealing with elderly parents or loved ones with dementia. Wow, it really made us see how lucky we are to A) have each other to help with our parents and B) that our parents even through they are 87 & 92 are actually doing quite well. My mom is still in rehab but is back to herself after not knowing our names etc. Then I went to church and helped take down decorations and put up new ones.
For dinner, I'll have leftovers from last night. I made a baked salmon with mayo and parmesan cheese. Sounds kind of weird, right? But it was soooo good! I even used light mayo although it was Duke's.
I should take down my decorations but I'm pretty beat and I kind of just want to have a down day. I think I'll just chill and maybe take it down before the Seahawks game tomorrow.
Enjoy your day!

cadoodlebug not only do our moms get along, they have planned a 10 day culinary cruise together for October. Haha...when Jeremy's mom moved in over there, I was like you talked her into moving there so they would be BFFs, didn't you? And he was like, yep so now we'll need to get a divorce. 🤣 That is fabulous!!! I love it!

lucyg.....ugh, I worded what I said SO WRONG yesterday! I *meant* to say I've only seen police/ fire funerals on TV shows and movies and how emotional the bagpipes are. I imagine it's even more emotional in real life for you. I'm sorry, and I wish I could give you a huge (( hug )). Now I wanna hear about how your kitchen is like Grand Central Station today We're about to run errands and will probably grab a pizza, and make salad at home. I am soooo excited to leave the house after being stuck at home all week writhing in pain.

My dad was a police officer for 32 years. When he died, we opted not to have a full police funeral but we did have a police bagpiper who stayed off to the edge of the cemetery and played Amazing Grace throughout the service. It was so moving, I had goosebumps the entire time.

We have leftover mashed potatoes. We are making an Ikea restaurant meal. We have the potatoes, Ikea gravy and frozen meatballs to cook. Maybe peas to go with it. Nice change from turkey meals.

lucyg so sorry for the loss in your community. When my grandfather died, who had been a police officer for over 30 years, we had a semi full funeral. He was also a firefighter so his casket was carried by firetruck from his house to the church and then the bagpipes were there and there were many police officers that lined the church. prayers to that family

Saturday was a big eating day for us. We took the dogs to the dog beach in the morning, then went to a nearby cafe for lunch. The dog beach is about 50 minutes away, so we don't go there too often. Every summer I make sure we go there and to the cafe at least once.
Then we went out to a Vietnamese restaurant for dinner with friends.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone!

I sometimes like sweet and sometimes like savory. I go in phases. We had snow but it’s already melted. Luke is here for the night. Now he has impetigo and his cough that’s gone on for 4 weeks. Hopefully his antibiotics will kick both. Dd & sil went to a comedy show. KelleeM I love fish chowder but never actually make it. Cooking pork tenderloin in a balsamic vinaigrette with roasted veggies and half a Costco scalloped potatoes. After Luke goes to bed I need to finish my sister’s last Christmas gift. I replaced the window of an old jewelry box with an enameled picture. Can’t decide if I should paint or sand the box This is the picture

Now I wanna hear about how your kitchen is like Grand Central Station today noooo, scrappintoee! I understood you fine, but didn’t express myself well. I was just trying to say that those police funeral scenes in TV and movies are true to life, and yeah, the bagpipes break us up every time. Don’t you worry. Thank you to taylortroop and christine58 for sharing your stories, too. No surprise, I am currently eating chili rice sent over by my sister. She’s more health conscious than I am, and adds beans and spinach to it. hee We have to leave for the airport shortly to pick up the 14yo’s stepbrothers who were in Arizona with their other grandma. If we eat later, I imagine it will be fast food. Darcy Collins, I would vote for having an excuse to visit NYC several times a year, but if it makes you happy, I hope she stays closer to home. leannec, I always liked both sweet and salty, but salty has kind of lost its attraction these days, mostly because of residual chemo effects. Maybe someday. But I’m all over the cookies, cake, and candy right now.

my dh's close friend died in a plane crash.. was a firefighter. the most sad part of his funeral was the last call broadcast into the church. his 6 yr old was screaming in the back.. I want my daddy. it was a very tough day and time.. he died, as did his wife, his baby and his mom. we were the point people for one set of his friends.
had leftovers.. everyone was happy with that.
the police officer who died was buddhist, so last night on the news, they showed buddhist nuns praying for the officer, and lighting incense. I assume the funeral may be a bit different due to that. hugs and prayers for you and for everyone affected by this lucyg. always so sad to lose a first responder.

That poor baby, losing everyone that mattered to him. I think they’re holding a private family funeral on Monday or Tuesday. The public service on Wednesday will be held at a church that describes itself as a member of the Evangelical Free Church of America (or something like that). The problem with line-of-duty-death funerals is that thousands of people attend, so they have to find a big enough venue (including parking). I imagine the church itself isn’t an actual participant or else may be one of several different faiths represented. That’s been my past experience. Last time Oakland lost any officers, it was four in one day in 2009. That service had to be held at the Oakland Coliseum Arena.
