By FAA... For a door blowing out in flight! Modification of a door that would be emergency door but not needed so covered on the inside.. Personal items sucked out.
Not the same planes that had earlier issues.

Yeah 171 grounded. A child had his shirt pulled off his body and sucked out of the plane - not the child! Thankfully they hadn't long taken off and returned safely.

I saw the BBC alert come through on my phone before I went to bed! How terrifying. It took me a bit to fall asleep thinking about how scared those people must have been.

Yup, I got a notification from my travel app last night minutes after the incident that my 7 AM flight tomorrow morning, on Alaska, departing from Portland, got switched from a MAX to a different kind of plane.
I’m not paranoid but eek. A little close for comfort.

Took someone's phone too. I just thought to take a belt to attach your personal bag to the seat belt..
Not a good idea!!

Took someone's phone too. I just thought to take a belt to attach your personal bag to the seat belt.. That would be dangerous to you. Just like they don’t allow crossbody or belt bags on your body, having a belt tethering things to you would be risky. If an item was being pulled by decompression, it could compromise the integrity of the seatbelt, putting you in danger. Or that item and belt could hit you and hurt you. Things are just things. Keeping yourself safe is what matters. Use the seatbelts as designed.

I have a friend in Puerto Vallarta who is coming home today to Seattle via Portland on Alaska Airlines and she was supposed to fly on that type of plane. I hope they were able to get a new plane to them so they don't get delayed!

And I just heard that my friend's flight got canceled and they can't get out until Tuesday night! She is supposed to go back to work on Monday and they have no place to stay.
Poor thing!

It wasn't even the door! it was a window panel! The new explanation. It is called a door plug. Covering where a door would be in use on other planes. On the inside it appears to only be a window. The NTSB is requesting any one finding the door plug notify LE or NTSB. directly. When you see a picture you will see the hole..

Whhhhhiiiiiinnnnnneeeee I went to bed last night and our flights for today were fine. Woke up to a notification at 3:30 that our return flight from San Jose was canceled. Wait time for customer service was 3.5 hours (the priority frequent flier line - I can’t imagine what it is in the regular number; there is usually never a wait time on that line) and nothing to rebook online, so we drive to the airport extra early to see if a person could work some magic and nope. We’re out of luck and had to cancel our trip We were invited by one of our big vendors to the 49ers game today, in one of the suites, the global CEO of the brand was going to be there, etc - I was really looking forward to it and am super bummed we can’t go.

I can’t stop thinking how miserable it must have been to be on that plane, aside from the terror of wondering if you were going to survive-the sudden change of pressure, the cold, and the noise! busy I hope you make it to the game!

Some are still grounded!! The Alaska jet had only been in use eight weeks.. like brand new. Safety checks on some Boeing jets hit a snag over paperwork on Sunday, as U.S. authorities searched for a missing panel that blew off a new Boeing 737 MAX 9 jet in midair on Friday. The Federal Aviation Administration on Saturday ordered the temporary grounding of 171 Boeing jets installed with the same panel after the eight-week-old Alaska Airlines jet was forced to make an emergency landing with a gap in the fuselage. They will remain grounded until the FAA is satisfied that they are safe," the agency said in a statement on Sunday. more... nordot.app/1116605916300444037

I sure hope flights are back to normal by Wednesday. Missing a game is one thing but it’ll be a problem if I can’t get to work :/

Seems crazy they can't find it. Portland is pretty densely populated isn't it? Seems like they are looking for it in the city. Glad no one was hurt by the falling door.

The area they think it’s in isn’t very dense and there’s a lot of green space. It’s not in Portland proper. We’re about seven miles from there.

It was not in Portland. It was in a suburb according to the news I read. They also found two cellphones.

That particular plane had a history of alarms on pressure readings and was restricted from flying over water. The alarms, in face, sounded just the day before this incident and several other times before. It had only made 150 previous flights.
Oh, two cell phones were found and working!!
