Hi everyone! I'm posting early because I'm meeting my mum at Denny's for breakfast this morning! Winter has decided to join us in Calgary! It is -15 degrees Celsius here right now and snow has fallen. By Thursday night it is supposed to get down to -32 degrees Celsius! Ugh! What is the weather like where you are? This is what I posted on Facebook today ... I bought my dd's insanely expensive water bottles for Christmas ... at least they drink water! My girlfriend agreed to come over later this afternoon to help me finally take down Christmas! Yay! I'm making chili for dinner ... she is allergic to mushrooms so I'll be putting corn in it instead. What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a relaxing Sunday everybody!

Hi leannec! I'm glad your friend is coming to help you today. I'm sure it's a lot more fun of a job with a friend. Nice of you to reward her with dinner. I've got one load of laundry done, my kitchen clean, a round on my new crochet blanket and I'm getting ready to try making a honey sesame whole wheat bread loaf. I plan to switch laundry in a minute and then make the bread. Read a chapter in my book and then hit the shower. Jeremy is dying for BLTs tonight. So I will indulge in meat tonight. He's at the grocery store right now. I plan to get some quilting done today too. As well as some reading. Have a great day!

It's 31 degrees out but at least the sun is shining. We'll bundle up and go for a walk in about an hour or so. Love the meme! DS won $600 in one of his Fantasy Football leagues! We'll have soup for dinner. I have 3 different kinds in the freezer.

We woke this morning to about 3cm of fresh snow and it’s continued falling for most of the day. Not quite as cold as where you are leannec - we’re only at -1C. It is expected to be colder for most of this week - max -4C - but sunny, so not much more snow. Normal Sunday here. Church this morning, then lunch, then DH into work to be set up for starting the new work year tomorrow, while I have been knitting on the sofa. Stepmum continues to improve and should be out of ICU tomorrow. Dinner is Nürnberger bratwursts (they are tiny, about the size of a middle finger) with käsespätzle.

Happy Sunday!
I'm taking lunch to mom in rehab today. She sounds so good and back to normal. I'm hoping she'll be able to come home late next week. Other than that, I'm hoping my Seahawks can pull it off today but I think the Packers also have to win have to lose for us to make it as a Wild Card. My DS and I are on a fantasy team and playing for first and second place so I'll be glued to my phone to watch the early games. We play only for fun and bragging rights and I'll miss it after this week.
Dinner may be one of two things: Either chicken parm or homemade pizza. If my dad comes over to watch the game, he doesn't like chicken so I'll make the pizza instead.
Hope you all have a relaxing and fun day!

We are supposed to have snow for the next week. But it's above freezing temperatures. So I don't expect any of it to stick or pile up.

leannec , enjoy your breakfast. I truly hope your friend shows up to help you. I'll take the mushrooms you don't use and put them in my imaginary mushroom burger. YUMMY. jeremysgirl , have a really enjoyable day. Tearisci , after reading your post my first thought was that I wanted to send you to a spa. You've been running around so much lately, helping your parents. You're a good dd. sueg , it's so good to hear that your stepmum is improving. cadoodlebug , WTG to your ds. YDS won $400 in one of his leagues and I think he won in his other league. We watched a lot of football while he was home. I was gonna start the new video game yesterday and ended up almost flat on my back in my recliner, again. So, yesterday's plans will happen today(I hope). That means enchiladas for dinner.
It was 29 last night. DH said that he saw black ice on our deck this am. We don't get snow, but we do get freezing temps overnight.
Happy, relaxing, fun day to all.

More work in the fireplace happening today but at least we have heat! The vent work is complete so the big hole is plugged. This part of the upgrade is not very exciting but I’m looking forward to the building of the hearth and mantle.
Still no snow here which is very unusual for us. We normally have snow in November which lasts until spring. Does this mean we will still have snow in June this year? Temp today is -1 C.
All of ODS’s family was sick for a few days. DH and I were at their house the night before the first one fell ill and I’m amazed that we came through it unscathed! Must be all those Covid vaccines and flu shot that we got.
Opted for takeout subs last night so tonight will be the pork roast.

teddyw. karenlou makes delicious fish chowder! destined2bmom the painter starts tomorrow and the floors start on the 22nd! We’re not having the best day here. I had decided yesterday that I wouldn’t go grocery shopping today because of the snow but asked ds about an hour ago if he wanted to go so he started my car while I took a shower. When I got in the car and put the wipers on a got a million bells and whistles going off at once and it won’t start. I’m going to try it in an hour and if it doesn’t start I’ll have roadside service tow it to the dealer and let them figure it out. It’s not even 2 years old! Dinner could be bacon, eggs and pancakes or some with ground beef. At this point we’re both cranky and want to eat everything in the house!

KelleeM the battery might just need to be jumped. Roadside service can do that for you too. We have about 4 inches of snow here and it’s about 26°. My butt will be on the couch watching football. I’m pulling for the jaguars to lose so that the bills are at least in the playoffs. They are the last game game tonight at eight and if they beat Miami it will be a wonderful thing

I did 2 loads of laundry and have cleaned all of my kitchen. Walls, baseboards, stove, etc. If I have the energy later I will continue with master bathroom and hubby agreed to clean the 2nd bathroom.
For dinner we might end up having a tuna fish sandwich we didn't have yesterday unless my brother decides he wants to go out for dinner.

We are getting snow here, started yesterday around 4 …changed to rain, and then snow again. Really snowing now, and supposed to continue till 1am. I am working at 11 tonight so DH will need to assist with the clearing of the driveway and vehicle. Hopefully the roads will be clear, as this snow has been in the forecast since last Tuesday…enough time to prepare.
Dinner will be roast rack of pork, with roasted red potato’s and carrots along with apple sauce To pay homage to my Mom who ALwAYS served apple sauce…with cinnamon sprinkled on it with pork!!!

Tearisci , after reading your post my first thought was that I wanted to send you to a spa. You've been running around so much lately, helping your parents. You're a good dd. Aww thanks! It's all relative though. My sister and I went to a support group meeting for caregivers yesterday and we really have it so much better than a lot of people. It may be coming in the future but for now they're pretty good!

It's all relative though. My sister and I went to a support group meeting for caregivers yesterday and we really have it so much better than a lot of people. It may be coming in the future but for now they're pretty good! It’s still takes a toll on you though. I’d check any senior services through your county, city or state to assist you. It snowed this morning and now it’s flurrying. Not sticking though. But it’s cold & windy. We have tickets to Moulin Rouge tonight. They never fall on a good night. Luke and I were up til 3:00. He really needed his nebulizer which didn’t come with him. Dd & sil weren’t answering their phones. By the time I got dressed and dh up to help me take him home to use it his breathing stabilized. Then we spilled water in the bed. It was just a night. Dinner will be somewhere by the theatre. I’m trying to finish my sister’s box for tomorrow. I opted to paint it black. I’m making mini ones for my DDs for Valentine’s Day.

Sounds like most of us have finally reached winter. We're above freezing today (barely) and there is wet white stuff on the ground but only a touch. Yesterday's plan to take the family out for sushi fell apart because I was feeling rotten - so we've rebooked for this evening. Easy - but no leftovers to get us thru Monday. Uh oh! When you work full time, and lose a weekend day to feeling it really feels stolen from you! I've done way too much lying around and not enough productivity... I'm going to take the poor puppy for a walk now, hoping that perks me up and gets rid of her energy!

We are having chicken noodle soup and biscuits for dinner tonight. I was already planning on making it because we got a chicken from Costco but it is super cold out today (well, for here anyway) so it will be perfect!
We are just having a catch up/plan ahead Sunday today. DD is doing all her laundry today because she needs ALL the choices for deciding what outfits she wants to wear for the dance convention next weekend. I was hoping to get some blankets washed that have been sitting in a pile in the corner of my bedroom but I don't think I am going to get a chance looking at what she has queued up. I am going to try and do some more sorting of photos today.
I am not a football watcher but I hope everyone's teams do what you are hoping for!

Hi Everyone, leannec I am glad that your friend is coming over to help. Your meme is so true for me. jeremysgirl BLT’s sound so good. I am glad that you have been enjoying your day. cadoodlebug Glad your son won the fantasy football. I am so sorry that you slipped on the black ice. It would be my luck to fall and not be able to catch myself. sueg I am so glad that your Stepmum continues to improve and praying she gets moved out of the ICU tomorrow. Tearisci I am so glad that your Mom seems back to normal. Enjoy your lunch with her. Your dinner sounds good. scrapmaven You poor thing. I hope you are able to play your game today, taylortroop I am so glad that you and your DH didn’t get sick. I can read the excitement in your post about your fireplace. KelleeM That’s awesome that the painter is starting tomorrow. Car problems are such a pain. I am glad that you got it jumped and you are able to go to the grocery store. christine58 Hope your team wins. bklyngal62 I wish I could do all of that in my house. Good for you. karenlou Fingers crossed that you have safe travels to and from work. We are having the same thing for dinner. teddyw Poor little guy. Enjoy your show and dinner. kitbop I hope you feel better and will be able to go out and enjoy sushi. Yesterday we had snow, then sleet, then snow, then sleet, and more snow. We ended up with about 3 to 3 1/4 inches. It was only about 29 to 32 degrees all day. Today the temperature has gone up to 45 degrees and quickly dropped back down. Right now, it’s 37 degrees. The dog kept us up most of the night. He’s old and the sleet hitting the windows, I think scared him. DH put a chuck roast with carrots, potatoes and onions in the crockpot. I took a nap today and have been texting with friends. I didn’t go to church because I didn’t know how safe the roads were and I was afraid of slipping and falling. That’s all that I would need (eye roll). I hope all of you have a peaceful rest of the day.

Now I think I need some tuna salad in my life this coming week. Thanks, you guys. kitbop, scrapmaven, and everyone else who isn’t at 100%, I hope you all start feeling better. DS got back from his long cruise and came by today. He brought me orange chicken and noodles from Panda Express, and it really hit the spot. I had spent the morning going through my wardrobe and dumping all the fat clothes. Well, not all, I’m still wearing some of them and easing into the new smaller sizes. It’s a good feeling, anyway. Dinner will be the rest of the orange chicken or else rechauffe chili rice. Well, it was already rechauffe when it arrived here.

Winter has decided to join us in Calgary! I think it's decided to join us here in Melbourne too, despite it being the middle of summer! I can't believe I was roasting at the beach on Saturday, and now on Monday, it hasn't stopped raining all morning. It's "only" 19C (66F) - which sure it better than -15, but crappy for summer! I tried a new dish for dinner - Buffalo Chicken Mac & Cheese. DS found the recipe on Tim Tok and asked me to make it. It was really really good! Here's the link if anyone who has Tik Tok is interested: Buffalo Chicken Mac & Cheese

sueg glad to hear your stepmum is improving. cadoodlebug oh that black ice is tricky. Glad you didn't get hurt. destined2bmom wise to stay at home in those conditions. Does your church still have zoom available? lucyg that's great to fit in smaller sizes! DS left early this morning and I think I got a little over 4 hours of sleep. There were winter warnings for the route to So CA and a pileup yesterday on the 5, but he thankfully made it down okay. We've had busy days with him. We made it out to Half Moon Bay one day for lunch and a walk and it was beautiful. A picture is below from our walk. The waves were really crashing. Last night at the guys request I made another round of cornish game hens with apricot brandied stuffing and apricot glaze. Today DH just had rechauffe. I didn't feel much like eating so just had a cup of noodles. We've been eating more richly and later with DS home. I packed up the Christmas tree ornaments which filled two large bins. Still have to do the rest of Christmas tomorrow.
