Hi everyone! It's a balmy -36 Celsius here in Calgary today ... my Jeep will spend another day in underground parking and I will spend another day doing nothing but Netflix and napping! I have a grocery order being delivered in a couple of hours ... my first time ordering! I just couldn't bring myself to go out in this weather! Here is what I posted on Facebook today: There are dead cars everywhere here ... the wait time for a battery boost or tow is something like two days! I think I am going to have some sort of pasta dish for dinner tonight ... What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a great Saturday everybody!

Oh leannec - I don’t envy you your weather. It has been below 0C all week here - today we reached a lofty high of -4 after an overnight of -10, and that is cold enough for me. Despite our balmy temperatures compared to Canada, my day was not much different from Leanne’s. We did go out to grocery shop and I went for a short walk, but that was my outdoor time. The rest has been football and knitting. DH is cooking dinner. We are having rack of lamb with mashed potatoes, peas and a red wine jus. I am sitting on the sofa with delicious smells wafting my way.

Today I have a lunch meeting with my service club. It’s a brainstorming event and I am driving.
It’s -8°C and cold. I can still go out but it’s cold. Actually it’s -7C now. I have to make hummingbird food in a while. There is an Anna’s hummingbird resident on my maple tree. He just sits there waiting for food.

Our little area of Southwestern Ontario managed to side step the cm of snow that was predicted. We got a dusting and then lots of rain overnight. The temp is -3 right now but is incredibly windy and with the wind chill it feels like -11. Good day to stay inside.
The shiplap is on the wall and the fireplace is looking great. I’m so lucky to have a DH who can build stuff and fix stuff!
Supper tonight will be roasted chicken, potatoes, Greek salad and a veggie of some sort

Happy Saturday! I'll chime in on our weather. It is 16F but this will be our warmest day all week. With the winch chill it is -23F. The wind was brutal last night. I kept listening for a tree to fall. We live in a wooded area. We have had a lot of rain this past week. It changed to snow overnight so the roads are covered and slick. DH and I got up early and headed into town. The main road was closed for a wreck. I plan on staying home the rest of the weekend. Need to make some cards and going to watch football. I love your meme leannec. Dinner is up in the air right now. I want to make some meals to freeze since most nights I won't be home until close to 8pm. Stay safe and warm!

It’s rainy here in New England. I have no plans to leave the house today except to take trash to the dumpster.
I cooked a large chicken in the instant pot and am going to make chicken pot pie soup for dinner. I’m also going to attempt to make thick flaky biscuits again. Last time I think my baking powder was old. I have a new can to open today.

Chilly here as well, but nothing like you're experiencing leannec ! Don't have any big plans - making some tortellini later, so easy peasy

Checking in from Nor Cal. It’s cold here but not Canada or Indiana cold. But I’ve turned on the heat for the second day in a row, so that’s saying something. Apparently it will be raining all afternoon. DD and puppy went off with my sister to visit my niece in San Francisco. I’m sure they’ll have fun getting there (almost an hour away, over two bridges) in the rain. We are headed to a “Japanese-inspired fusion” restaurant in Walnut Creek for dinner. I LOVE this place. My dinner will be beet & crispy brie salad (to die for) and cauliflower tempura (also to die for, not puffy/greasy, I’m not usually a tempura fan). And whatever else my family is sharing. OH!! And my son is driving, so I can drink, too. I was laughing at him a bit, because this dinner will be him plus his wife, his sister, his mom, his aunt, and his grandma. And we’re all bossy. And he’s our favorite person to boss around. Should be a fun night for him.

The torrential wind driven rains have stopped, and the sun is shining brightly and it is a balmy 55 degrees here on the east coast. I was called in just before 3am and thought I would be either blown away or washed into the sea...It was bad. I have had my vehicle to the dealer for her 12 month "check up" and tried to take a nap after coming home...Not happening. I'll probably hit the wall around 3pm
Dinner will be pizza...take out...so I have nothing to do except work on the baby album I am making.

Just got back from getting my hair cut/colored. It's nasty cold/raining out there so I'm glad to be home. I noticed that the Lions/Steelers NFL game has been postponed until Monday but the Dolphins/Chiefs game is still a go. At -30 wind chill! The Steelers are hiring people for $20 an hour to help rid the field of snow. " style="max-width:100%;"] Dinner will be Chicken Noodle Soup, perfect for this weather!! Stay warm!

I can't complain, because I have a cat on my legs and he's really warm. We came home this am. I finished the current puzzle at mil's house and now I have to work on my current puzzle here. I got a few new puzzles from Santa and now I have a stack that needs my attention.
DH and I have been busy planning retirement. W/just a few weeks left, there's lots to discuss. We are looking fwd to getting out and really exploring the surrounding area. We live close to many beautiful places. It's surreal to be discussing this, but time flew by while we were making other plans.
Dinner is rechauffe broccoli chicken and rice for dh.
Enjoy the weekend, my friends.

DD performed her solo yesterday and got Platinum and 7th overall (out of 79). She felt really proud of herself and today she is in classes learning so I am just working on a photo project.
Today, we are having chicken and rice that I made before we came.

Happy Saturday!
We got mom sprung from rehab today and she was happy to be home although they are fixing a water heater in the building and now they have no water.
I'm getting ready to put in a grocery order with things for me and them. With everything going on, it's just been crazy to try and fix stuff at home.
This afternoon, I have to run some errands and I'm going to shop for some new boots. I never buy anything for myself and I desperately need them so hopefully I can find some I like.
Dinner may be Ramen at my favorite place close to my errands.
Have a great day everyone!

scrapmaven, have fun planning your new adventures! Soon there will be no more sitting at home while Mr. Maven is on call! Whoopee! It was between rain showers so DH and I braved a walk. Our northern and Canadian Peas would have laughed at me in my Nanook-of-the-North coat, gloves and woolen cap I had on. DH gave me the coat for Christmas at least 30 years ago when we used to go to Tahoe to ski. I don't wear it often but man does it come in handy when I need it!

We got 6" of snow in 4 hours last night and it was super heavy and wet and broke my lilac tree. Then it rained and blew all night, "killing" the snowmen DD and her BF made in the backyard, and turning the snow to a thick layer of slush. Then it froze again and snowed a bit on top, making the cars hard to scrape and the sidewalks absolutely treacherous! I pulled a home-made mac and cheese out of the freezer for supper. DD's BF has "moved in" for the weekend, so I have lots of big eaters to satisfy. I make my mac and cheese starting with 2 lbs of bacon - I use the fat to make the sauce - and add lots of caramelized onions as well. It makes 2 casseroles worth, like 20 servings total. We jokingly call it "heart attack in a bowl". But is sure is good! sueg - my mouth is watering! taylortroop - I don't know where you are that you avoided snow in s.ontario yesterday! My area usually is very sheltered from the squalls but not last night. Congrats to your dd fiddlesticks!

Well I finally got around to making the salmon risotto that jeremysgirl inspired me to make a few days ago. Yum. lucyg your poor son! I am having a good chuckle imagining the poor guy out to dinner with you five bossy women! Does anyone else catch a glimpse of ntsf 's and Delta Dawn 's avatars and think you're reading from one but it's the other? They look so alike, it's hard to tell them apart! And they obviously shop at the same clothing store.

Cold and windy here too. We got less than an inch of snow. We came to the lake to meet with the boat repair guy. Dh decided we should stay for the weekend. So I cleaned out the fridge and spring cleaned the kitchen and my closet. Tomorrow is the basement utility room. christine58 you’re so lucky you left. Such good timing We had pepper, mushroom and pepperoni Stromboli. So exciting you’re planning your retirement activities scrapmaven.
