How awful! I have dreams where I'm stomping the brakes but they don't work, so this is a literal nightmare for me. I'm so glad no one was hurt. I have the dream where I am trying to pump the breaks, but I am in the back seat with my foot over the front seat. I am sure it is a control issue rearing its ugly head. And OP, the weather has been glorious this afternoon. The twenties feels so lovely. We had school/work canceled due to the frigid temps early this am. SAME! Driving a car that is out of control and the brakes won't work is a recurring nightmare for me. I've been in that position, on ice, totaled two cars. It's absolutely terrifying. I'm SO glad everyone is safe workingclassdog!!

That’s like the dream I have. Sitting in the back seat, no one in the driver’s seat trying like crazy to stop the car! It’s freaky. And workingclassdog that would have scared the living crap out of me! 😳 Once I was driving to work on icy roads in a minivan with front wheel drive and I hit some black ice. Did a 360° right in the middle of the street with cars both in front and behind me. Thankfully I didn’t hit anything and no one hit me, but holy crap did that scare me! I called DH when I got to work and told him he was going to have to come get me when my shift was over because I wasn't going to drive that thing home after that. Oh I did that 360 degree once.. it was crazy but I felt like a race car driver.. I was driving to work and it was snowy/slick out. I was on one highway that merged with another one. Right at the merge, with NO cars on my highway or the one merging my car decided to start sliding.. (I've grown up driving in bad weather).. so I did my thing.. let the wheel go, pumped the breaks a little, but not hard and before I knew it I was in the middle of the 360 and bam, I landed right where I started and continued on my drive like nothing happened. I was SO bummed that NO ONE saw this epic spin.. HAHA.. It did freak me out a little but I was laughing once it was over... Yes, it was SO weird! I ended up going the exact direction I had originally been heading and continued on like nothing had happened, but it was so scary!

something similar happened to me years ago. I didn't hit anyone but I was going about 50 mph and pressed on the brakes and nothing happened. I was going around a curve onto another road and luckily no one was coming. The master cylinder went. I was actually able to stop the car using the brakes right after this happened. I wouldn't just chalk it up to cold temps. I would have it thoroughly checked.

At least you didn’t hurt anyone. That’s great that the door stopped you.
