I was shaking in my boots.
Went to Jiffy Lube to get an oil change on my lunch hour. Now to backstory this, it's been super duper cold here for the last 3-4 days, so today at 23 degrees it was like a heat wave.. lol
Anyways, get there, wait my turn, pull into the bay and start pulling in. The guy waves me in until the right spot. I go to use my brake and they don't work. I keep going. I can't get my truck to stop. Panic sets in when the guy is standing in front of my truck and the overhead door is closed. The truck keeps going and the guy is almost pinned in between the truck and door. Thankfully he is able to move out of the way and the door 'stops' me. OMG... never had that happen before. He was okay. Had to give them my insurance info. ALL that matters is no one is hurt. But damn. After everything he doubled check to see if the brake fluid was okay and it was. The only thing we can think of something was still frozen. I absolutely know that my foot was on the brake.
Anyways... that's MY morning.

How awful! I have dreams where I'm stomping the brakes but they don't work, so this is a literal nightmare for me.

How awful! I have dreams where I'm stomping the brakes but they don't work, so this is a literal nightmare for me. I'm so glad no one was hurt. I have the dream where I am trying to pump the breaks, but I am in the back seat with my foot over the front seat. I am sure it is a control issue rearing its ugly head.  And OP, the weather has been glorious this afternoon. The twenties feels so lovely. We had school/work canceled due to the frigid temps early this am. |

I tested those breaks allll the way home. No cars around me or anything. I am literally five minutes from the place and side streets all the way. I had no problems. Tomorrow when I have to go downtown, I'll be watching all the way there and for sure not tailgating or acting the fool! haha |

My friend's car did that one time. She pulled the emergency brake. I have no idea if that would still work or not. This was 20 years ago. By far the scariest thing that has ever happened to me in a car. We were driving down hill on a curvy road.
Glad you are ok. I would definitely have someone look at your car.

I have dreams where I'm stomping the brakes but they don't work, so this is a literal nightmare for me. So do I! (That one, and the one where I am running as fast as I can, but not actually moving.) We were watching TV last night and that happened to someone, they were yelling "Stop stop stop" as they were pumping the brakes. I said to DSO "OMG it's like the recurring dream I have!" |

Did a 360° right in the middle of the street with cars both in front and behind me. Thankfully I didn’t hit anything and no one hit me, but holy crap did that scare me! I called DH when I got to work and told him he was going to have to come get me when my shift was over because I wasn't going to drive that thing home after that. |

I’m so glad he was okay! I’ve actually had my breaks go out on me before as I was parking at work. The spot faced 183 before it had access roads (Austin peas know) and if there hadn’t been a ditch I would have rolled right out into traffic. Terrifying.

Right at the merge, with NO cars on my highway or the one merging my car decided to start sliding.. (I've grown up driving in bad weather).. so I did my thing.. let the wheel go, pumped the breaks a little, but not hard and before I knew it I was in the middle of the 360 and bam, I landed right where I started and continued on my drive like nothing happened. I was SO bummed that NO ONE saw this epic spin.. HAHA.. It did freak me out a little but I was laughing once it was over... |

Where Malibou and I live there is a pretty high mountain grade to get from our valley up in the hills down to the coast and I have nightmares of my brakes going out while going down it someday. The fast lane has zero shoulder but it's my favorite lane to be on when I'm going down, I like to live dangerously lol. Argh. Now next time I go down I'm going to be paranoid. Thank goodness you are okay silly girl. |
