Today I got the attachments off and a retainer made. I have to wear the retainer full time for 2 months and then just at night.
This is significant to me for a variety of reasons. First and foremost, I hated my teeth. I refused to smile in pictures I was self conscious anytime I met new people...when asked what I would want to change about myself, it was always my smile. But...we didn't have the money for braces in our budget and we opted to get them for our teenage son when we did.
In May of 2021, I noticed we still had $1200 in our FSA that expired the end of June. Xh told me I should either get Lasik or braces because i jad always wanted those...I opted for braces.
I'm pretty certain it was within a week of that conversation that the ow found him on Instagram. So this was likely the last thing he did that wasn't clouded in deception.
While I'm not dating, I doubt I would have gotten any suitors with my old smile where now,I get told I have a great smile or that I am pretty every couple of weeks at the bar I do karaoke at.(of course they've been drinking, but still). I have no problem smiling in pictures (even though I'm still not photogenic)
Just another end and beginning, but I wanted to share.

I think I might do this too. I never had braces because I didn't need them, but my teeth have shifted a lot on the bottom and the top row is now starting to shift a little bit and I think I would have a much better outcome if I do it now rather than later. I dread having to wear them, but I'm sure I would appreciate that I did it once it was all over.
I was supposed to have an MRI but insurance denied the need (though, they suggested it as yearly for me in the first place) so I now have that money that I would have used for the deductible sitting in our HSA.
I should just go ahead and do it. Thank you for letting us know it has worked well for you!

I love this! I get my attachments off next week. Not sure if I will also have to wear retainer other than at night, but I definitely feel so much better about my smile. I actually did it because my bite was off and they told me I was going to end up having to get dental work done because my front teeth were hitting up against each other. That said, I am so thankful for a result that is both better for my bite and my smile.
Also, congrats on sticking with it! Committing to wearing the aligners for that long is NO SMALL thing! A great way to start a new year!

Woot! I got my old school braces on 3/23/22 and they’re coming off 2/12/24. This is round 2 of braces for me since I didn’t wear my retainers like I was supposed to when I was in HS. I was told that I could either get braces or deal with my front teeth chipping and needing implants. Braces it is. I will have Invisalign retainers. Don’t know if they’ll start out just at night or if I’ll have to wear them more at the start.

How exciting for you! And how fortunate you were on the timing of paying for them. It must be a real mood booster to have compliments on your smile. I just started wearing Invisalign a week ago to correct my overbite and space some teeth out in preparation for getting some veneers afterwards. I wanted to get the veneers before DH decides to retire since our dental insurance will cover 60% of the cost (nothing towards the Invisalign though).
As a child my two front teeth were Bugs Bunny teeth so I've hated my teeth and smile forever. There are very few photos of me with an open smile. In high school a dentist talked my mom into filing them down, which I was all for. In the 50 years since I've had all sorts of issues with those top teeth and they are full of fillings and bondings. When we started discussing the work for the veneers the dentist said we'd get the best result if we corrected the overbite. So I'm in that phase right now. It's a bit uncomfortable but it seems to be getting better.

Awesome for you. When the company I worked for switched dental insurance, the new one paid for adult braces. I always wanted my teeth fixed but my family couldn’t afford it as a kid. I got them on during the pandemic. I went old school. I knew if I did Invisalign I’d be able to take them off if they were uncomfortable. I’ve never regretted getting them.

That's great! I'm a huge failure of invisalign because I found the retainer they give you at the end of the treatement very uncomfortable to wear. So, I didn't. Don't be like me.

Don't be like me. yeah, I'm not liking it. They made it in house, so I may go back and make them do it again. If I can make the 2 months, I figure night time wear isn't bad

Congratulations! I did the same thing and will be done next month. Isn’t the extra confidence great? I look back at old photos and wish I would have done it years ago (was too busy trying to survive on one income with two teenagers).

So glad you are happy with the results! I wasn't happy with my smile either, and quit smiling in pics as well. I was in a car accident a couple of years ago, and my husband's head hit my mouth and chipped the back of my front tooth. Don't ask me how it chipped that way bc i have no idea! We placed a filling there but it never really sat right, and it made my tooth look almost transparent. In addition, I ground my front bottom teeth down so bad that the enamel was completely gone on the tops of my teeth. I finally decided to get everything fixed in the last 3-4 months. I got my teeth whitened, had my bottom teeth built back up, and then got veneers on my two front teeth. My teeth look amazing now, and it's so nice to be able to use my natural smile in pics again. 5/5 stars - Highly recommend!
