Our shower drains have a plate over them with holes in them. They are screwed down. If there is hair on top of this drain plate, I remove that, but I never unscrew it from the floor of the shower. About every 5 years of so, we use draino in the drains as a preventative measure. Same but no drano.

I also have the plate with holes over the drain. I have long hair, but I don't really shed a lot. I have never pulled hair out of the drain cover, I have never taken the drain cover off to look down there. I have never had the shower drain run slowly. I have never put anything plastic and barby, or anything like Drano down the shower drain. And though it is 2:22 in the morning, I did just run in there to peek if I was missing something, and I'm not. 😁 Phew! We bought our house new 28 years ago.
I do have to regularly clean the gunk out of the bathroom sink drain in dh's sink, but not my own sink.

I have an ancient tub and shower.
I have a hair catcher for the drain, that I empty after every shower.

Remove the drain and clean under it? Never.

So...ummmm...after 6 years in this house, I finally figured out how to get the silver thing off and cleaned it last week
My plan is to do it quarterly
ETA, there was a clump of pipe shaped hair. It was gross.
I do shed...a lot

In my last house I used a silicone strainer type thing that sat in the drain and I cleaned it after each shower if needed but definitely after a shower where I also washed my hair - even though I brush before-hand shampooing and conditioning really loosens my hair and I literally collect clumps of hair. Thankfully I have a lot of hair! I do try to collect it in my hands as I condition instead of chancing it going down the drain but my stopper things definitely caught lots that I missed. In my new house I have a really large shower and the drain is a channel along the back wall. It takes the 2 of us to lift the portion of tile that fits in this channel to get to the small basket strainer. We’ve been doing this monthly or when we notice the drain slowing. Thankfully DSO shaves his head and disposes of his hair in the Garbage, not the sink or tub I’m not bothered by this gross task but this guy is… youtu.be/oyFT5i6Ryz0?si=w1Ix-zy5VbODT754ETA we had one of those barbed plastic things…broke in the drain and necessitated a plumber to fix as I pulled 2 pipes apart trying to retrieve it. Couldn’t leave it in there as it would have collected a massive ball of hair just sitting there.. That guy's reaction is exactly how xh would react to dog/cat vomit, hair, or if the kids for sick

Between once a month and several times a year.
When it gets clogged (with my hair - my dh is bald and we're talking about unscrewing the plate and pulling out the clogged hair) we clean it out.

I have been under a lot of stress since August and my hair was falling out by the handfuls. I’ve had to clean the hair out of the drain after every shower or the tub would fill about 1/3 of the way while I was showering.
I went out on FMLA in mid-November and the hair loss has slowed down. I should be able to go back to doing the clean out once a week.

Our tub drain stopper does not come out. It is so freakin annoying. Dd and I both have longish hair and shed terribly. We do our best to gather it on the wall when we finger comb conditioner thru it but every month or three the drain slows. We use the orange barbed thingy (and rubber gloves) to pull the hair out.

Never. I have pretty long hair that used to shed quite a bit, but ever since I started drinking Glotrition everyday, I haven't had that problem.

My DH does ours every few weeks. Aside from him, the other 6 of us in the house (4 girls, 2 boys) have lots of long/thick hair so it gets stopped up pretty regularly.

Where's my Oprah option? I can't clean mine because the home's prior owner stripped the screws on the drain cover; at some point I should probably get a handy person to remove those screws and replace them, but I haven't been able to do it myself. It's gross. I do clean out the ones in the other showers, but mine gets the most use.

I don't have a trap. Maybe the cleaning lady does something, I know she really leaves the tub/shower really clean and shiny.
