I’m thinking about getting a cordless iron for sewing and quilting. It’s mostly for ease of use. Do you use one?
Initially I thought I’d get a small, palm sized iron. I’m still thinking that’s what I want. But after doing some Googling, I’m seeing that there are larger cordless irons as well. The larger ones also have steam. Reviews seem to say that they use the irons with the plate, replacing it every 10 seconds or so to readjust the item that they are ironing. So the iron stays hot. Cons seem to be that the irons aren’t as hot and the steam isn’t as good as their good, corded, irons.
I have a really good iron that I bought years ago that gets really hot and stems well, so I don’t plan to replace that for normal ironing of garments, tablecloths, and the like. I’m really just planning to use the cordless one for pressing seams when sewing.
So I guess I have two questions: 1. do you use a cordless iron? 2. is it a regular sized one or a mini?
Bonus points if you have a specific model to recommend!

I only use corded irons, both full size and mini. Cordless doesn’t get hot enough or stay hot long enough IME. For pressing seams as you go check out the newest Olisio mini. Their first mini was not great but the new version is great! Olisio M3 Pro iron. I also have the large Olisio iron but have a love hate relationship with it. It irons well but that noise from the up/down motion drives me crazy.

I just got a Panasonic cordless iron for my sewing room about a month ago. It is made specifically for quilting and has a point on both ends which means I can't sit it on it's end. It has to go back on the stand when not in use. I agree with the reviews. I think it does get as hot but doesn't stay hot without putting back on the stand. I like it, not in love though. I replaced a very old iron that wasn't getting that hot either. I had a cordless over 30 years ago and I always did like not having the cord in the way so I figured I'd try it again.
If you are ironing very large items, it may not be the best choice because of having to 'recharge' it by putting it back on the stand so often. Since I'm often repositioning fabric or adjusting seams to press, this isn't a big deal for what I'm using it for. And I do have one of those tiny irons I keep right by my machine.

I have an Olisio mini (corded). I love it for sewing along with my wool mat.

People I know that have a cordless aren't happy with them. As others above mentioned, they don't stay hot very long.
I have an Oliso mini which I bought after my other mini was recalled. I like it, although the one I have can't be stood on its end because the cord is there. It sits on a silicone mat it came with.

Their newest mini has the cord to the side so you can set it on end. It has an automatic cutoff and they also improved the steam function, as well as changed where you add the water. Best of all it has an LED light just above the front tip which really helps with seeing what you are pressing. I still have my original Olisio mini, but never really liked it because the handle would get super hot and the steam feature didn't work well for me. Basket1lady - if you opt for an Olisio project iron, really consider the newest version.

I bought a small corded one for about $20 on Prime Days last summer (HTVRONT brand) and I like it. I originally bought it for doing small HTV and sublimation projects but I’ve found it’s great for pressing seams, making bias tape and other small sewing projects too. I don’t think a cordless one would get hot enough for my purposes.

I use the cordless Panasonic 360 (I think, if that is the new one, I have the old one). It's good enough. I use it to press seams when piecing. I rather enjoy not messing with a cord. Don't use the steam feature as I keep a spray bottle with distilled water and also Best Press nearby.

lots of people like the Olisio. Tula Pink just came out with a branded one with her signature style and colors on it. I've seriously looked at the mini. I can also hear my mother cackling at my spending that much money on an iron (I detest ironing clothes, but will happily iron quilt fabric)

I also have a Panasonic cordless iron to use on my quilts. I have the new Oliio mini iron. Thank goodness it has a turn off feature. I definitely need that option!
