I have had this weird thing going on for a few days where I have this crawly sensation near my left shoulder blade, always in more or less the same one spot. It comes and goes. It doesn’t hurt and there is no rash. At first I thought maybe it was the seam of my shirt because sometimes I wear shirts with seams across the back, but it has happened sometimes when the shirt has no seams there too.
I'm due for the shingles vaccine series but with all the Covid shots and flu shots recently it kind of got pushed down on the list. I was finally able to get myself and DD in to have those others done so now I need to schedule it. If it is shingles, I was reading that I could still get the vaccine as long as I’m not in the middle of a bad outbreak. Can anyone tell me if this is how theirs started? If so, I won’t wait the two weeks I had planned to wait between Covid & flu vaccines (done the same day) and this one and I’ll go for the first dose this week. FWIW, the tingling/crawly feeling was happening a day or so before I had the other vaccines. My mom and at least one of my siblings that I know of has had it so I know how fun it isn’t.

If you have to ask call your doctor and get seen now. IF you get seen right away and it is Shingles they can give you an anti-viral that will help relieve and shorten the length of symptoms. EEK. I'm sorry that you might have this.

I'm sorry that you might have this. There is literally nothing to see though. I know about the meds they can prescribe for it but how do they diagnose it without the rash? I don’t have a current MD because mine left the clinic and I haven’t had a chance to find someone else. I will likely have to change clinics to get a female primary doctor because the two they still have on staff are booking 3 months out and I refuse to go to a male doctor unless I’m dying. If there was a rash and/or someone says, “YES that’s exactly how mine started!” I would make an effort to get in vs. just making sure to get the vaccine this week.

I hope it's not shingles! About a year ago I started to get a similar feeling on one section of my back. Tingly, ITCHY. Nothing to see. Dermatologist told me it's a form of eczema. Still nothing to see but it comes and goes, sometimes for longish stretches of time.

When I got shingles it was on my mid section, left side. It was about 10 tiny bumps, bite things. They itched like crazy. Of course I showed everyone at work who I thought might know what it was. Insect or flea bites was the consensus. After a couple days of itching they turned to - burning like crazy ! I then went to Care Now because it was the weekend. They diagnosed shingles and gave me the anti viral. The anti viral worked great. I have since had the 2 doses of shingles vaccine.

I got all three shots at one time, Covid booster, flu and Shingles with no problems, but if Shingles not sure how that works for prevention shots, so my thoughts don't really address your question. Hope it's not shingles.

Still nothing to see but it comes and goes, sometimes for longish stretches of time. This would make sense to me. My kid had eczema BAD when she was a baby so I switched to all unscented detergents and stuff for her plus eczema lotion. I have a tiny patch behind one ear that has been flaring up lately. It’s weird. I might need to switch up my shampoo.

My shingles was over my right breast, wrapping around to my back in the summer of 2022. My first symptom was soreness, like I had pulled a muscle. Then I had a few bumps that were both itchy and painful. Mine didn't have that weird crawly sensation that I remember.
Fingers crossed it's not shingles!

I’m sitting, waiting for my second shingles vaccine right now!
I get an “electric” sensation in my upper right shoulder every so often and it never occurred to me it could be shingles but the pamphlet says that could be an early sign.

Still nothing to see but it comes and goes, sometimes for longish stretches of time. The same with me, only on my upper arms near my shoulders. If I keep the areas well-moisturized I can keep it from getting too bad. If it does get extra-itchy ice packs have helped calm it down to where I'm not scratching myself until I bleed.

that is *exactly* where my shingles was focused (down to LEFT shoulder blade). i would go see your doc, my case was pretty mild, that is the only place that did flare up. good luck!!

When dh had it, it started like that. You need to go get the antivirals. If it spreads to your head, that cam be dangerous (my dh had it on the back of his head). A male doctor can prescribe those just as well as a female doctor- you dont have to commit to that doctor for life. Getting the vaccine while having shingles isn't going to help

It’s my understanding that without a rash shingles is pretty difficult to diagnose and I don’t have a rash. Apparently there is a blood test they can do to see if there are any antibodies but supposedly it’s often inconclusive. If I did see any kind of a rash starting I would go to urgent care and be seen by somebody, but right now there is literally nothing to see. Right now it’s just been a bit of a weird sensation that has popped up a few times over the course of several days. Nothing constant, nothing painful, not even itchy. Just weird. FWIW, I did get the first shot today.

I have had a spot on my back under my right shoulder blade towards my right side that sometimes feels like a sunburn and sometimes just feels weird, no rash or anything else in that area. It's been going on for over a year.
The doctor I saw did not know what a sunburn felt like (she had darker skin and had never had one) but they did an x-ray and sent me on my way. I still don't know what is causing it... Maybe I should have asked about shingles.

I had mine on my face, including the surface of my right eye, my temple and up into my hairline.
It started out as a tingling feeling for about a day, then I woke up with a rash (some bumps, some just a weird thickening of the skin) and my eye was cherry red. It spread for a few days and stayed inflamed for about 10 days. My skin and eyeball burned and itched. AND I looked like a monster!!! lol
The tingling feeling I had felt like what my sister describes when she is getting a cold sore. It tingles first before it breaks out.
The Dr that diagnosed me was my eye Dr. He said I was lucky that it didn't affect the nerve that goes to the interior of the eye, that is very dangerous.

This is definitely not tingling like when a body part falls asleep or you’re getting a cold sore. It’s more crawly like bugs are under my skin and it goes away if I press or rub my back against something.

I get that tingly/itchy sensation, always in the same place on my back. For me, it's structural. A trip to the osteopath (I think chiropractors are more common where you are) to get straightened out, and it goes... until next time. My Mum gets the same thing too.
I've had shingles as well and this is different. Shingles was tingling, transient itching then burning pain followed by the blisters, much like cold cores.

When I had shingles, I could relieve the pain by pressing my back/shoulder blade area into something. I only ever had two teeny areas that looked like it might be shingles when the doctor looked at my back. I started with a feeling like I had sore muscles and then it progressed very quickly to feeling like I was being stabbed in the back when I took a deep breath. It is likely it is NOT shingles, but if I thought I had shingles I would not have gotten the vax at that time. Many people have strong reactions to the vaccine alone. Can’t imagine what it might do if you had shingles already.

I get a very similar sensation in the same spot every now and then. For me, it’s not shingles.
