A cancer diagnosis is always awful but to have it reoccur just seems extremely unfair to me. I hope further testing reveals your mass to be benign. I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Thanks everyone for the good thoughts and prayers. I'm kind of numb today, but I'm hoping to get scheduled quickly for the ultrasound so I can either know that it's benign or what the next steps are. I also have a call into my doctor to go over the report to see if she can cut through some of the medical jargon that I don't understand.

Praying that it is benign. I'm in year 3 of taking Letrozole for breast cancer lumpectomy. I go in tomorrow for my semi-annual mammogram and see my oncologist in March for my semi-annual exam. I just stopped taking Letrozole because I was at the 5 year mark. I’m still taking letrozole and they tell me I probably will for life.

My doc took me off at the 5 year mark but I'm going to talk to her about possibly going back on. I didn't have any side effects with it but the 5 year mark was the date for her.

Ugh I can't get in for two weeks to do the ultrasound! I'm going to keep calling to see if they have a cancellation.

I just saw this and am so sorry you are dealing with this again. Two weeks is a long time to wait to find out anything concrete. I am sending positive vibes that the ultra sound will bring good news and relief from worry.

Well this just sucks! I am frustrated for you that they do not do a mammogram and u/s at the same time. It would save you some of the worry. I am 4 years out and it's still a struggle not to worry about recurrence. I'll be thinking of you and waiting for an update. Hopefully someone will cancel and you will get in sooner.

Ugh I can't get in for two weeks to do the ultrasound! I'm going to keep calling to see if they have a cancellation. I just think that sucks. People with a history of breast cancer should be fast tracked when there's an issue. When I was originally diagnosed it was one month from the time I found the lump until I got the diagnosis. A week to get in to see my doctor, another week before the ultrasound/diagnostic mammo, another week for the biopsy and a week to get the results from the biopsy. That's just wrong. It was the longest week of my life. I hope there's a cancelation and you can get in sooner. Keeping you in my prayers.

When i was diagnosed 5 years ago, they did the ultrasound right after the mammogram so I was able to be 99% sure that it was cancer. Having to wait 2 weeks for the ultrasound and then waiting for those results is just not cool.

Praying there’s a cancellation in the next 24 hours and you can get that appointment!! Also praying the results are benign or better yet, GONE!!

I hope you get in faster than the 2 weeks and the iltrasound gives more (GOOD) information. I am sitting waiting for my radiation treatment as I type and it is so unfair that you are having this uncertain prognosis!

I'm so sorry. The waiting is the hardest part, isn't it? I'm 3 years into my aromatase inhibitors, and have been told I'll need to be on them for 7 years before reviewing. I just had my annual MRI on the remaining breast (because my cancer didn't show up on the mammogram) and am waiting too. Waiting is hateful - it screws with your brain worse than treatment, right?
I'll send up a prayer for you that this is nothing. Dense breast tissue is the most difficult to make a definitive decision without an ultrasound. While you're waiting for that, hugs.

Ask your doctor to order whatever kind of mammogram it’s called that does it all in the same day in the future. I *think* it’s called a diagnostic mammogram, I have one every time. And this should be standard practice. It’s horribly unfair that you’re having to wait.
