I'm a five year breast cancer survivor and went in for my routine mammogram this morning. I've only been home about 2 hours when I get a note from my doctor saying that the test results are back and that I need further imaging. This mass is in my left breast, but I can't feel it. I have very dense breasts and when I had my other lump, I could feel it. This seems to be close to the nipple per the notes.
I beat it once and I can do it again but I don't want to have to. I'm hoping that it's benign and that the ultrasound shows that is not irregularly shaped. My previous cancer was so obvious that they did an ultrasound right then and detected it.
Just when things start to look up, I get dealt a blow. Oh well. I'll get through it!
Updated-
I went in yesterday for my followup mammogram and ultrasound and the spot is really small right in the very center of my breast. It was hard to get imaging in that area because it was so deep and close to my pectoral muscle. The doctor reviewed the tests and said that she thought it could be a "angry lymph node" but wants me to come back in 6 weeks and if it's still there, they'll do a biopsy.
Not 100% great news but I'll take it. Thanks again for all of your good wishes!

Fingers and toes crossed for you! I hope you can have the ultrasound done soon and that, of course, it shows the mass to be a cyst. (((( hugs ))))

I'm a 5.5 year survivor of triple negative breast cancer. What you are living is my worst nightmare. Like you, I know I beat it once, but I really wouldn't want to have to again. I hope with further imaging/testing that they find out that it is nothing. Sending out positive prayers and vibes for you (((HUGS)))

Sending out positive prayers and vibes for you (((HUGS))) I was fairly lucky with my cancer before that it was easily treatable. I had a mastectomy but they found cancer in the margins so I had to have radiation. It sucked but it was doable. Ironically, my Facebook status 5 years ago was "no chemo!" What a day.

I'm so sorry. I'm an (almost) 15-year triple negative breast cancer survivor. It's our worst fear to hear those words again but I'm sending all my positive thoughts that is something benign and simple.

Dang it..... So sorry!!! Just prayers for you that it is benign.. just sucks.
My sister has colon cancer and today she noticed a big chuck of hair coming out. We were hoping due to some medication she is taking she wouldn't lose her hair. Hoping it is just thinning but whatever. She is handling it good though. She is like 'well there isn't anything I can do, bring on the scarves'.
Cancer just sucks.
