This morning, I had one from Wayfair (haven't shopped for a coat rack in over a year but they really want me to buy one), Michael's and Joann's because I was on their website yesterday, Shutterfly (hey you didn't order yet!) and Thriftbooks does it as well (did you find what you were looking for, did you?)
Is it just me or do they annoy you too?

Annoy me tremendously. Even more annoying when they say “you left something in your cart” so I go and delete it but the emails don’t stop.

I unsubscribe to all emails when I start getting these.
I know I sign up for a ton of sites, to get discounts, or to be able to go back to my cart, especially around Christmas time. I shop a lot from my truck during harvest. Then I spend January and February unsubscribing! LOL

It is annoying. Sometimes, for example, a pea might post a link to Amazon saying something like “What do you think of these curtains?”
I click the link, take a look, give an opinion back to the pea, and then a few hours later, I get an email from Amazon saying “Here’s some curtains you may be interested in”
It’s annoying and happens too often from so many websites

Very annoying. I get them from several places. The only time I don’t mind getting them is if they offer a discount to continue with the order. That doesn’t always work though, if the item is already on sale and they won’t stack discounts. Those emails rarely work on me.

Wayfair is the worst about that. Lately I've been getting emails from them saying, "hey that thing that you wanted is going fast." Yeah, I know. I BOUGHT IT ALREADY!

Is it just me or do they annoy you too? I find them extremely annoying, especially the ones about the stuff I've left in a cart. It's marketing which I understand but it's having the opposite result with me than what they are hoping for. It's like having a bunch of pushy used car salesmen in my Inbox! My method is to unsubscribe, mark as spam and in many cases not visit that website again.

Although, Joanns does normally offer a coupon(sometimes even on sale items) and $2.99 or less shipping.

If they come with a discount offer....not annoying. If they come with no discount offer...annoying. I quickly read, then delete. In general, this type of email (pick and choose my battles) doesn't bother me.

I use a specific email for all shopping, so all those kinds of messages go to the same tab in my email and notifications are suppressed. It's easy for me to ignore them, so I don't really find them annoying. And occasionally, the "you forgot this in your basket" is actually helpful for my neurodivergent brain. Sometimes I think I checked out an order but actually got distracted mid process and didn't finish.🤦♀️

And yes, it’s VERY annoying. If I wanted the thing I would have BOUGHT the thing! And even more annoying if I did buy the thing but they still keep trying to sell me one. DH bought three camp chairs from Woot and he keeps getting emails from them telling him, “Hey, wanna buy a camp chair?” Um, NO, because I already bought three of them! He said the worst offender though was LEGO. After he bought me the Disney castle set as a surprise for Christmas one year, they literally bombarded his email with offers for other sets to the tune of multiple emails every day. I routinely see his email account because I use his work computer for the work I do for him, and he was afraid I would see something from them and get tipped off that he had ordered it. Even after he unsubscribed from their emails he was still getting LEGO emails weeks later. Needless to say, they ruined their chances of him ever ordering another thing from their website because they annoyed him so much. 😕

Why don't the people designing these campaigns ask themselves, "Would I like that if it happened to me?" I mean, that's kind of Being Nice 101 (the first step of effective marketing), vs. what they're doing, which is money grubbing.

The people who are dictating these marketing/retention tactics are 100% not the same people being paid to implement them. Folks in charge only care about how many dollars they can squeeze out of each consumer this quarter.

Yeah, my emails are about to hit 10,000 in the next day or two, and most of them are marketing emails. (I really must try to get on top of them!)
The funniest (?) one I had was when I wanted to buy a cooling blanket. It was the perfect colour, and a really good price. I put it in the cart, and was about to buy it, when I realised that the price was in US dollars. So all of a sudden my $180 blanket was $275! I just closed down the page and forgot about it. A couple of days later, I got an email asking "Did you forget your item? Here's another 10% off!" Over the next couple of weeks I got several more emails, each time giving me more of a discount.
I ended up not buying the blanket, but if I do decide to buy it one day, I know to leave it sitting in the cart until they give me a bigger discount!

I generally go to the unsubscribe button on every irritating email and change my preferences to stop all emails or if it is place I might go, I lessen the amount of emails they send. I noticed on Kohl's site, they say preferences might take up to 12 weeks to be updated. Huh, so they can get me on their list in 12 seconds, but changing them 12 weeks. Pffft.
I am good about deleting or dealing with my emails on a daily basis. So many of them look like maybe legit emails, but the address they come from is definitely not legit. Spam key.

1800 contacts does this all the time. Funny thing is that I did place an order but I used my insurance but they don't understand that. I have to report spam over and over and then eventually create a filter that gmail ignores as well.
