UPDATE 3/2. My husband was in ICU, for 11 days, following the transplant. He was then moved to the transplant care unit for 10 days. The liver is doing well with no signs of rejection, but my husband has been extremely ill. He had issues coming out of the anesthesia and had to be narcanned 4 times. It's been very stressful for all of us.
Today he was transferred to a rehab hospital, where he'll be for 2-3 weeks. We've been in Indy for 5 1/2 weeks. I've been here with him the whole time. We are both very homesick.
Thank you all for your good thoughts and kind words ❤️

Update 02/18
HI. The transplant went well. It took 6 hours. He's had a few complications but everything seems to be headed in the right direction except for his kidneys they have totally shut down. He's on continuous dialysis hoping they wake up. He's still in intensive care, until the doctor is comfortable with every other day dialysis.
We've been away from home going on 4 weeks. We're both homesick and missing our great grandkids and our pup.
Thanks for the kind words ❤️

Hi, everyone Denise's daughter here (former Pea Nursesweets) my best friend has made a Go Fund Me for my parents and I asked my Mom if I could share here because I know how absolutely amazing yall are! Thank you for all the well wishes...my dad hasn't worked since before Christmas and is receiving a very minimal short term leave pay.
UPDATE
Me, again. If everything goes as planned, my husband should have his transplant in a few hours. The liver is coming from another state and will be examined by the team here. Praying it's a good liver.
UPDATE 02/09 Richard was just listed for a liver. Because he is so critical, he is at the top of the list.
Again, thank you all for your love and support ❤️
UPDATE 02/05
He has renal failure and has had 3 dialysis sessions since Friday. His kidneys are not waking up and we need that to happen, like now. He's scarily yellow, weak and having hallucinations. His high levels keep going higher and his low levels keep going lower.
I'm so scared that I am going to lose him.
UPDATE 01/30 the insurance approved the transplant immediately. The doctor was shocked it came so quickly.
Today was a rough. He was lethargic and grumpy. His kidneys are not functioning much. They're running tests to be sure the cancer hasn't spread.
Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day ❤️
UPDATE 01/27
Unfortunately, my update is not a good one. I husband was dx with liver cancer, today. He has a tumor the size of a golf ball in his liver. His skin and the whites of his eyes are so yellow I couldn't believe when we got to the hospital today.
His health is not good enough for surgery, so Monday starts the process of a transplant. Of course, the insurance has to okay everything before they can start
I posted at Christmas that my husband was
in the hospital for his liver. He hasn't been "good" since and has been unable to go back to work. Tuesday his eyes and skin were so yellow and all he would do is sleep. I called his gastro doctor, they said to get him to the ER they were sure his ammonia and bilirubin levels were high. They admitted him and he's not gotten any better.
His gastro doctor consulted with IU Medical Hospital in Indy and they put him at the he top of the list for a bed. This afternoon an ambulance took him down there. We hope that he will be a candidate for a transplant.
My daughter, sil and older granddaughters are leaving first thing in the morning. We live 3 hours north of Indianapolis. I will be staying awhile, not sure how long.
I know the power of the peas and would welcome your prayers, good thoughts or whatever you do!
