There have been a couple of threads this week where a non European Pea has said European butter is better than US and a different Pea said European Tea is better than the US. I love watching tiktoks of people who come to the US and are blown away by good things (some of which make me scratch my head)... LOL At the top is usually BBQ and the sides. Starbucks drinks are popular (not always coffee, per say, but the different ways it is prepared and the non-coffee drinks there too. Ranch dressing is always a topic. Our beef is almost exclusively sent abroad, so I am going to say good Iowa beef is better than European, from first hand knowledge. LOL It is fun to hear where our beef goes. We don't always know, but sometimes the let us know. Once our entire load went from a Pack in Omaha right onto a jet to Japan (take that Kobe beef!) ... MASH DK (Modern American Steak House, Denmark) was buying our beef. I know sometimes it goes to UAE also. I prefer to buy US butter. I think KerryGold is good, but so is LOL butter, and you can get it European style, which is also 82% butterfat, just as KerryGold is. I support US Farmers. I love my Terry's Chocolate oranges! As far as I can tell, the are manufactured in France. So yummy! I also love Lu Petit Ecolier cookies, which I believe are made in France. Such a treat when I can find them! I like Barilla pasta, which is an Italian company - but it is made less than 100 miles from me in Ames Iowa! That’s really interesting to hear where your beef goes! I’d forgotten about ranch dressing. As Americans stationed in Belgium, we had access to the American commissaries in Europe. We weren’t allowed to buy things there for friends, but we could gift them. One of the things that I gave my conversation group students was Goldfish and ranch dressing. You sometimes can find cheddar goldfish in the American section of a grocery store, but not the other flavors. And sometimes you would see packets of ranch dressing, but not the bottles. Marshmallow fluff, cereals with sugar in them (Lucky Charms, Cookie Crisp..), Jell-O, and anything Reeces were also very prevalent in those sections.

I’m going to add Mexican food, both real and Tex-Mex. We’ve seen what passes for Mexican food in Europe and Australia, and … no. The Asian food was generally much better in Australia, though. Hahaha, Mexican food in Australia....... yeah nah! You're spot on. I did a training program a number of years ago, and the woman running it was from the US, and she was (what's the appropriate word here?) bemused by our Mexican offerings. Mexican is probably my least favourite cuisine, and I am certain it's because we don't have many decent Mexican restaurants. Most places have enchiladas, fajitas, and quesadillas, with either chicken, beef, or prawns, and not much else! But I don't think you can go past our Asian food. The Thai food that I ate in Thailand wasn't as good as what we get here, for the most part. Our Modern Asian Fusion restaurants are second to none. IMO.

I’m bemused by laundry loads that take 3 hours. In my 40 years of owning “European” washing machines, I have never had a load take that long. I have the option to let it take that long if I want to (eco mode), but the two main programmes I currently use are 45 minutes for a mixed load, or 15/30 minutes for clothes that are lightly soiled.

We stayed right in Chinatown while in Sydney and had some of the best Asian and fusion food I've eaten. And TBH Houston has some good Asian food! But that was even better.
