I know most people don't recognize me anymore, and I'm not sure how many of the long time peas made it over here, but I wanted to share for anyone that's interested This week my boyfriend and I got married! It all happened really quick. We had planned to wait until I graduated in a couple of years, but school put some pressures on me that sped up our decision. It was a fun, goofy day! Nothing traditional about it. And we're planning a vow renewal/reception for a couple years from now to celebrate with family and friends that weren't there. In the presence of his children and his parents, with his ex-wife officiating, we got married in a Chinese restaurant near our house LOL Not how I ever pictured my wedding day, but this was NO stress and LOTS of fun and laughs. Just wanted to share with those of you who have been supportive through all the junk I've been through since finding the Peas

Congratulations! I remember you. Were you married in the restaurant? As a wedding officiant I married a couple in the restaurant where I worked one time. The bride held a little artificial cactus (it was in Roswell, NM at the Cover Up Cafe) as her bouquet.

Yes Georiapea, we did the "ceremony" right in the restaurant! Lol The people at the table behind us clapped after we kissed

Congratulations! I love that you had a low (no) stress wedding. Was it weird having his ex officiate?

I remember you, and that is an awesome wedding! "with his ex wife officiating" is my favorite part, sounds like you are off to a good start. Congratulations!!

I remember you and your story. How delightful to see you so happy and married! And now you can add to your life-story "married by husband's ex-wife" because that's sure not something that happens every day!

I am so happy for you!!! I remember your story and think about you from te to time wondering how you are. Best wishes to you and your DH. Wishing you many years of happiness!!!
Not many people can say the ex performed the ceremony. Lol. People think I'm weird because I had DH's ex over for thanksgiving dinner. Lol

That's wonderful. The couple I married in the restaurant didn't have any witnesses so 2 unknown to any of us people in another booth signed as witnesses.

Congratulations! I love that you had a low (no) stress wedding. Was it weird having his ex officiate? Not really. We asked and told her we understood if she didn't want to do it. They divorced as friends and we've had occasional contact since then. We do things every month or so with her daughters (movies, dinner, geocaching, camping). They were high school sweethearts that got back together about 8 years ago (I think) and just realized they were better friends than spouses. I'm not the jealous type and I don't believe in animosity just because she's an ex, so we've gotten along fine once past her initial tears that he was dating someone new.

That's wonderful. The couple I married in the restaurant didn't have any witnesses so 2 unknown to any of us people in another booth signed as witnesses. We wanted his (adult) daughters to be witnesses, so we made sure they were there. As you can see my MIL is less than thrilled LOL (She doesn't smile for photos anyway, but the inlaws live with us and it's been VERY stressed between her and I. Needless to say, she's upset he "chose" me over her [he didnt] instead of kicking me to the curb). We're pretty sure she showed up for the Chinese food, not the wedding... HA HA HA!
