I can assure you there there are indeed people who are doing so. We had someone "have Covid" 3 times in a year- they got 30 days out of work, 20 of which were PAID while we were doing distance learning and hybrid learning and whatever other messed up learning type of things that were come up with. Eta: we get 10 days a year and because of COVID we were given 10 more (not any longer tho) but only those who had Covid got to use those 10 extra days, if you didn't get covid and have to use them (because you used all your sick days already) then you were SOL. I was such a lucky dog that I got mine the Tuesday Christmas break started and was all ready to go back to work when break was over. Pissed me the hell off! Some, but again, admin seems to assume that *everyone* is. Yeah. That’s not right. Sadly those who choose to make poor choices ruin it for everyone else.

I know that some employers will say that people have to come into work but I think most will still be cautious and ask that if you can work from home to please do so. Hate to break it to you all, but this has been the reality for millions of US workers for a long time now. Very few people can afford to take five days unpaid if they’re hourly workers. Others work in jobs where being absent like that for several days can cost them their jobs.
This.
Most of retail.... Supermarkets, Target, Walmart, discount retail like TJMaxx and Homegoods... all run on bare bone crew to maximize profits for the shareholders.
There is no work from home for these jobs. And in most cases, there is no understanding for absences.
I just had Covid in December....first time ever so I was lucky I avoided it for 3 years. Anyway, I was sick as a dog and on Day 5 I could still barely get off the couch. I know there are very mild variants, but this new CDC idea is stupid. Me too.
And I was fully vaxxed.
To be honest, I'm still not myself yet, two months later. I'm still having phantom smells. My taste and sense of smell are still very reduced (I had lost them completely for over a month). I still feel more tired than I ever have. I still just don't feel right. And there's really nothing I can do about it.
