Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone. Do you have a city/area that has a Valentine Bandit…An anonymous person/persons that puts up printed hearts for Valentine’s Day?
The Valentine Phantom, often referred to as the Valentine Bandit in media reports, refers to an unidentified individual or group who each Valentine's Day secretly decorate the downtown area of a city in the United States with a series of red hearts printed on sheets of letter-sized paper.
It started in Portland Maine in the late 70s, I think. The idea has since grown and there are now other cities who have the people that do the same thing. We have had one in Montpelier (our capital) since around 2002. Each year everyone looks forward to seeing if the Bandit will hit Montpelier again. I think there was only one year that they didn’t show up and people were really disappointed. So much so that a group of highschool kids went around and put up the hearts that day. The bandit was back the next year.
ETA - 😆 I truly thought it was more of a “thing” around the US. Tells you how small our little bubbles can be sometimes. 😆

No, but the suburb I just moved from has someone who creates rainbow dildos via 3D printer and "delivers" then to various businesses via drone. They call him the DilDroner, and he's become so popular that he opened an Etsy shop, lol.

I've never heard of that.
When I saw the word "bandit", I was expecting this post to be about deliveries (flowers, packages, etc...) being stolen-taken from a homes porch, door area, front walkway space, wherever a delivery is left, etc... With this particular situation, the use of the word "bandit" is very misleading.

Not a city, but this did happen all over my work building today. We were all talking about it and how fun it was. Had no idea it was “a thing”.

Yes and I was pleased to see people have continued his legacy after he died and his identity was revealed last spring. There was a nice big heart on the door when I got to my workplace in Portland this morning. 💕
