My mum used to cook them when we were younger - we're talking back in the late 60s/early 70s. I hated them and wouldn't willingly eat them. I did eat other offal - liver and kidneys - so it wasn't just a 'squick' factor. I didn't like either the texture or the flavour.

I do/will not. However, my grandmother would cook squirrel brains with scrambled eggs for my grandfather. So help me if I find out I ever ate brains with my eggs...

I have pretty bad texture issues so based on that alone I would say no.

Hard pass. I'm already having a hard time with the fact that we're travelling to Spain this summer & they serve horse there.

About 15 years ago when I first started dating DH, we went to this fancy restaurant with an up-and-coming chef (who has since won a James Beard award) that he knew. Because they were friends, the chef just sent us several different dishes over the course of the evening. The restaurant was noisy so I missed the descriptions for a few of the dishes.
I really enjoyed one of the dishes, so I asked DH if he could repeat the name. He said that he would tell me later when it wasn't so noisy, so I just shrugged it off.
The next day, I knew it was going to be something effed up because when I asked him what the dish was, he responded with "do you promise not to be mad at me?"
It was lamb brain tacos.

Just because it is served there, doesn't mean you're likely to come across it, nor do you have to eat it. I've been to Spain - several different cities/areas - and never once even seen horse meat on a menu.

Nope. I'm a pretty adventurous eater generally, but brains are not happening. I will eat liver in some contexts, but a big no to any other offal.

It was on a menu in France and we just did not order it. (I think it was France, but that was 30 years ago, so....)

I think it is a southern thing. People hunt squirrel for meat here. We have squirrel season, deer season, duck season, wild boar season...Oh, I think there is also a turkey season. I am not a hunter so I don't know what all is hunted around here.

I love the visual to this so much. I picture pappy and his long beard out shootin' the varmints fer the morning vittles. Or maybe meemaw shot them from the stoop. Fryin up them brains with eggs sounds like a pretty solid waste-not, want-not plan. I wouldn't eat the brain of anything though, rabies and Kreutzfelt-Jakob disease (sp?) etc. Plus the texture looks like it would be disgusting. Maybe squirrel brains with eggs wouldn't be too bad, if I had to eat a brain. Not typically rabid. Probably very tiny.

I've eaten hotdogs which I've been told contains various organs of animals. I try not to think about that. But no, I would not willing eat an animal's brain.

Eating a horse doesn't particularly gross me out any worse than eating a cow or a deer. I've never tried it, but it doesn't make me gag or upset me.
One thing I've tried that I will never ever eat again is goat. The most disgusting thing I've ever ever eaten. I couldn't get the foul barnyard taste out of my mouth. It tasted like goat cheese x 1000, and I already hate goat cheese. It tastes like a petting zoo smells. The nastiest thing I have ever tasted by far, even worse than Brussels sprouts. I feel like eating actual shit would be a similar experience and couldn't be much worse.
If that was the only meat, milk, and cheese available, I would definitely be vegan.

unless I was on the Amazing Race, or Bear Grylls offered to cook them up naked for me, I would not.
When I was a kid, we ate "rocky mountain oysters" which, being from MD, I should have known there were no freaking mountain oysters. They were bull balls, and I was pissed I was lied to. I didn't think they were that awful, but I just don't think you should do that to a kid.

My mom was raised eating taco de sesos, or brain taco's. They really didn't let any part of the goat or cow go to waste.
I don't eat it, it's the texture that I don't like.
Now, I have the world's pickest eater and she loves brain taco's. She's very pickey and only eats it if it's made the way she likes it.

I am really struggling with eating meat at all, so no, I will never eat brains. I will not eat any organ.
I gave up beef about 20 years ago and now just eat a little bit of chicken and fish. I recently learned how to make tofu taste good, so I am limiting chicken even more than before. For some reason, eating some types of fish, particularly salmon, does not make me feel squeamish or guilty. Maybe because they are not cute?

My mother's family had BBQ goat at family s. I would not eat it..then DH took me to meet his father and father served BBQ goat. I couldn't insult my soon to be inlaws, so I ate some. It was actually good. ...that being said, I have only eaten it at his home. He died in 1992, so it has been awhile.
New generation in Mom's family and it is not served. We all bring our own meat to the event.

I feel a lot more guilty eating fish than chickens, because of over-fishing. I don't like farm raised fish, I really only eat tuna and I shouldn't eat it at all. I do feel guilty when I pass a chicken truck though and there they all are, exposed to the elements in wire cages, feathers flying, off to their doom. I don't eat very much meat, mainly because I don't feel very good if I eat much of it. I get my eggs from a friend now, I know her chickens have good lives.
