Not counting the sneakers you have for athletics, how many pairs of sneakers do you own? How many of them do you wear regularly? Do you wish you had less, more, or feel like you have just the right amount? If you feel like sharing all the colors/styles/materials feel free!
Basically I’m trying to justify a purchase I’m considering 😁

I will always enable a cute sneaker purchase. I love colorful sneaks! I think if you can afford to buy, have a place to store and will wear them, then why not?! Life is too short, buy the cute shoes!

I’d say 10 or so? I’d say that I wear 6 or so weekly. I like them for casual wear and wore them often when we lived in Belgium to go sightseeing (which was 5+ times a month). I’m not a fan of traditional athletic shoes for everyday wear, but I’m on board with this trend of casual athletic wear.

I have 3 and will be adding 1 more pair.
Dd has 8 pairs of Vans. 2 are customs. You can go on-line and make your own shoe design.

I think I have 6 pairs that I switch off among now. It used to be more, but I don't wear them nearly as much now that I am not commuting into the city daily for work.

Because of foot issues, I wear tennis shoes almost all day, every day. If I need something fancier I wear sandals. I basically have one newer pair of Brooks and 3-4 pairs of older Brooks and Saucony that I can wear in a pinch.

Outside of athletic type sneaks, I have around 20-25 pairs of sneaks, both slip on and lace up. I have a hard time resisting a sneaker.

Outside of the ones I wear to the gym, I think I have 4. One of those though is old and I only wear it when I am doing "dirty" work around the house (taking the dog out in the rain, gardening, getting the mail, cleaning the car, etc).
You asked outside of gym shoes, but I do have about 7 gym shoes. I rotate them.

I’m all for buying a little bit of happy that you’ll get good use out of so I say go for it! The me that lives for decluttering and organizing wants to remind you of the one in one out rule. But I only have two pair, and I use them for every day and for walking. And they’re the exact same shoe and color, one is just newer. They’re black & grey, go Spurs go! To be fair, I have very wide feet and psoriatic arthritis, osteoarthritis, and lots of bone spurs and it is so hard to find shoes that are perfectly comfortable. I have torn an Achilles due to issues in my heels and used to suffer from plantar fasciitis so bad I could barely walk so I do everything I can to avoid that again. Ugly bright purple crocs around the house every single time I step out of bed and shoes that give me the support I need. I wish I could wear cute shoes!

3. Good gym shoes, back up shoes, crappy gardening shoes.
I don't own a lot of shoes at all. In addition to above:
2 pairs of strap on sandals, 2 pairs of black flats, 1 pair of slippers
Yeah that's it.

I’m not in my closet right now, but off the top of my head I can think of 12 pairs that I have.
I’m not a big tennis shoe person, I’m usually dressed up.
But I do love the Vintage Havanas with the glitter, the Betsey Johnson rhinestone pairs, and anything Kurt Geiger.

I wear Allbirds in the summer and have I think four or five pairs of those. I also have a pair of sneakers I actually use for workouts, a pair of running shoes, and a pair I use to walk the dog when it isn’t wet out. So seven or eight?

To answer your question of how many is too many - there is no such thing. :-)
I am a Nike girl. I also have several pair of Vans. All in, I have about 60 pair of sneakers/athletic shoes. I wear probably 10 on the regular.
When I worked in office, I rotated more frequently - I always matched my shoes to my outfit. Now I match my slippers to my joggers since I WFH. The cats don't care what I wear.

I will start off by saying that I am NOT a "shoe girl" at all. I resent having to spend money on shoes. I only buy what I absolutely need, and probably need to hand in my female card. I only have three pairs of sneakers: One pair of magenta Nikes that I bought many years ago for walking/running (not that I run!) One pair of Merrells that I got for my birthday two years ago, for hiking and mountain walking One pair of Limited Edition Adidas ZX Flux Rose Gold & Black sneakers that were my daughters. She bought what was almost the last pair in Australia, she had to hunt everywhere for them. I wore them a couple of times and stretched them, so they became mine. I wouldn't mind buying a fourth pair, something cute and/or sparkly to wear with skirts, dresses, and jeans.

I own one pair so I'm probably not the best one to answer this question. I wear them for walking and usually only have one pair at a time. My current ones are Hoka. I do own one pair of Sketchers slip-ons, the all black ones (the soles are also black) but I don't consider those "sneakers". I don't walk in them, and I'd never do a sport in them. I wear them to school only.

I wouldn't mind buying a fourth pair, something cute and/or sparkly to wear with skirts, dresses, and jeans. Lol. I handed in my card years ago. I hate buying shoes. Thankfully we now have Zappos so I rarely have to go near a shoe store. I own one pair of sneakers, one pair of Sketchers slip-ons, two pairs of comfortable sandals, one old battered beloved pair of Birkenstocks, one old beloved pair of Merrill clog-style shoes that I wear for doing errands in the winter (if it's not actively snowy or slushy, then I wear the boots), two pairs of Crocs, and one pair of low zip-up winter boots. That is it. In theory (i.e., they're in the back of my closet and I haven't looked at them in years) I have a pair of pump-style shoes that I used to wear with dresses or skirts when I had to get a bit more dressed up. But I haven't worn a dress or a skirt in years for any dress-up occasion so those shoes haven't seen the light of day in forever. I do wear a summery skirt sometimes when it's hot but for that I just wear sandals.

I have more boots than anything (cowboy + dress/heeled + hiking/combat) but sneakers are a close second. I have a running pair, a retired running pair that I leave at SO's house, a regular wear pair, a gym pair and a retired gym pair that I use for messy stuff. My running sneakers don't have the max mileage on them, but the tread is peeling in one spot so it's time to invest in another.

I own a LOT of Toms; maybe 6 or 7 pairs. Those are my go-to, daily shoes. I simply can't resist, eps. when they come out with cute beach or ocean inspired styles, like whale sharks and sea turtles.

I hate buying shoes more than anything so I'm not going to help your case much. I have 2 pair that I wear regularly for exercise and everyday needs. I have one more new pair waiting to swap out. I bought them in October and dread breaking in new shoes so much they are still in the box.
I have 2 old pair for gardening. I buy athletic shoes purely for function. I try to get something that looks decent but it is all about fit and not making my feet hurt.

I have my pink/gray Asics x3 - one for inside when I'm on my feet a long time, my every day pair, and a crappy pair for in the yard. I have black Nikes and at least 8 pair of Converse in all colors. Buy the shoes, MichyM.

I'm not a shoe girl either and have multiple foot issues...so I own 2 pairs - a 'good' pair with RX inserts for anytime I'm going to be walking or standing and a slip-on pair with OTC inserts for around the house or quick errands.
But if you can afford them, will wear them enough to justify the price, and have space for them (or a pair to discard in exchange) - go for it

However many pairs I have (and it’s a lot), there is always room for one more. 😊

I probably have 8-10 pairs of sneakers, almost all of them are Rocket Dog Jazzins in different patterns and colors. I have a couple old nearly worn out pairs at the lake cabin that I switch into for yard work, an old all black pair that need to go to the lake so one of those other pairs can be tossed, a new all black pair that I wear mostly in the winter, some black floral ones that are almost worn out, a black and white abstract pair, a pastel tie dye pair, a brand new pair that’s light gray with white polka dots, an almost worn out cheetah pair, a white pair of high tops that I want to customize with paint or HTV, can’t remember if I have any others.
I also have a cute pair of Hello Kitty Converse that I might see if my DD wants because they’re not comfortable with my orthotics. I have a light blue denim pair that I got at Costco and can’t remember the brand, but was waiting to wear them until the yard at the cabin was less muddy. Same with a mauve suede pair of Vionics, was waiting to wear them until the yard was more established at the lake. A different floral pair of Rocket Dogs (not Jazzins) that I probably should have bought a half size bigger. An old pair of Keds mules. An almost new pair of Skechers mules. An almost new pair of lace up Skechers that I got right before I got my orthotics that I can’t wear. A pair of dark blue denim Levi’s slip ons that are nearly worn out but I really wish I could find another pair like them.
I really want a pair of the new black Jazzins with multicolored paint splats and right now they’re on sale BOGO, but I can’t justify buying two more pairs when I still have 2-3 pairs that I’ve never or barely worn. What I love about the Jazzins is I never have to worry about them fitting weird or not working with my orthotics. I can buy them and they’re instantly comfortable which is rare for me with other brands and styles of shoes.
