Hi everyone! I have a few things to do today ... bake Emma's confetti cake soon so that it has time to cool ... the cake will then receive pink frosting and sprinkles! Then I need to go to the bank to deposit a cheque ... fun times! It's Emma's birthday dinner celebration tonight so Emma, Molly and I are going to one of our fav restaurants for dinner (Earl's) ... I get to have oysters! Then we will come back to my place for cake and gift opening ... my mum will meet us here (she doesn't like Earl's ) ... Two weekends of birthdays! Whew! I got my new glasses yesterday!!! One pair are Burberry and look exactly like my old ones ... the second pair are L.A.M.B. (by Gwen Stephani) and I am in LOVE with them. Here is me last night sporting them! So dinner tonight will be fresh oysters on the half shell as an appetizer and my main is yet to be determined! How is everyone and their loved ones feeling today? What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight Have a great Saturday everybody!

Hi leannec I'm glad you get to indulge in oysters tonight. I know how much you enjoy them. I find it super endearing that your girl still like boxed confetti cake. That seems super sweet to me. Jeremy went out for a haircut this morning and came back with a test driving truck. 🙄 He wants a new truck. Because apparently the suspension on a Dodge Ram isn't the best for handling a 30ft camping trailer like ours. So he's been on my butt complaining we need a new truck since we bought the camper. This truck is a cool gray Chevy Silverado 2500. It's even got hook ups for a fifth wheel so I see that if he gets this truck he's also going to be on my ass about upgrading our camper. 🙄 Did I mention that when I met him he was driving a little Nissan Versa? And now the trucks keep getting bigger and bigger? He came here just long enough to prove to me that I could actually get in it. (it's a big jump for shorty me) and he went back to see what his trade in was worth and what kind of deal they could make. So we will see if he comes home with a new truck. I'm going to my sister's in a bit. My aunt is visiting from out of town and today is also my dad's birthday. So we are all getting together. My sister just asked me to bring a pasta salad so that's what I did. I might not be around to chat much today so for that I apologize. Just say a prayer that if he brings home this truck, he won't be on my ass about upgrading the camper! 🤣

leannec I LOVE your glasses! Mine are sort of similar, though my prescription changed slightly, so I'm not sure if I'm going to get a new pair. It's just so dang expensive since I have terrible eyes and really bad astigmatism. I'm not sure what's for dinner yet (perhaps pasta or some crab cakes I picked up on sale), but DH asked for coffee this morning, has had 2 breakfasts, and isn't hacking up a lung anymore, so I think we are headed in the right direction! He never wants coffee when he's not feeling well, so I know he's improving. (I know I mentioned this already in last night's thread, but I'm just so happy.) 🎉💓

leannec , cute glasses. Enjoy your time w/your dds tonight. jeremysgirl , is this a new-to-Jeremy truck or a new-new truck? My dh is wise enough to admit that truck buying is boring and he has a nice truck. rymeswithpurple , I'm glad to hear that your husband is feeling better. Have a nice weekend. Ods requested bow tie alfredo for dinner. It's the simplest meal that I can think of. I have to run down to the store at some point, but I'd rather stay home. Still recovering. I'm gonna try and sit up in my office for a bit today. It's the little things. Enjoy a fun, relaxing day today.

I have been enjoying the quiet since my niece and great nephews left a couple of hours ago. The boys were fun but very rambunctious!
Dinner is going to be Marry Me Chicken which I hope we will love! There will be a salad on the side.
I’m planning to scrapbook for awhile this afternoon.

leannec happy belated birthday to your dd! I hope you all enjoy your dinner and cake! Your glasses look great! jeremysgirl I hope that if there’s a new truck that doesn’t lead to a new camper! rymeswithpurple I’m glad your dh is feeling better! scrapmaven I hope you continue to heal and rest. I’m a bit envious of your dh’s upcoming retirement! I turn 62 next month and would love to retire but, unfortunately, it’s many years in the future for me.

KelleeM Thank you so much! He's napping right now, but we had planned to do nothing this weekend so he can continue to get better. He asked for wedding soup next week for dinner, so I'm happy to make it for him. He said the first few days of being sick were worse than when he had Covid, so to see him getting better is a relief. Neither of us get sick often, so it's always scary for me when he is.

Today is already a long day and it isn't even noon yet. I accompanied my friend to Pearson Toronto Airport (left at 2am) to bring her dd & friend for an early flight. It was busy at 3:30am at the airport Then the 1 hr+ drive home. I slept a bit but am now up and the day is dragging. When you have your 1st coffee at 3:30am the day can only go in one direction. Trying to work on my quilt but with being sleep deprived, being very careful. Dinner is whatever is served at the *Coldest Night of the Year* after the walk to raise money for homelessness. It will be a very long day.

Hey all! Hope everyone's having a good weekend! Making a pasta dish tonight and trying to get some organizing done. It's BEAUTIFUL outside, so I make bag that plan and go for a hike or something.

Our warm weather took a turn last night and it’s cold here today. Thankfully the sun is shining which helps a bit.
We have no plans for today or the weekend. I’ve been doing some research to find a cottage or resort to book. So many options!
Today is the one year Gotcha Day for Walker. Hard to believe we’ve had him for a year now. So much dog hair and muddy paws but also laughs, exercise and happiness!
Supper will be chicken wings. I bought a few boxes while they were on sale during Super Bowl because they were such a good price.

Good evening all,
We woke this morning to a photo of a very sad looking nearly 5YO in a hospital bed - suspected appendicitis. Thankfully, it turned out she had a combination of a viral illness (causing the high temp) and severe constipation (causing the tummy pain). A good dose of something from the doctor, and she was smiling and on her way home. We haven't done a lot today - grocery shopping, a bit of cleaning, DH had a visit to the hardware store to get a new power board for beside his bead, as the one he has doesn't have enough space for his CPAP. He slept much better last night, even better than his first night at home with it. I have been knitting in front of the TV. Our football game is about to kick off - we really need a win tonight or our season is totally shot (probably is anyway).
Tomorrow I have First Communion class - we only have 5 classes left before our celebration day after Easter - and then after lunch, DH will head to the airport to fly to Sweden for most of the week.
Dinner tonight is rack of lamb with baked aubergine and cauliflower/broccoli gratin.

rymeswithpurple I'm glad to hear he's feeling better. scrapmaven this is a brand new 2024. He's still negotiating as of right now but he says they want his used truck super bad. There is still such a tight market for used inventory that they have their eye on a trade for his 2021 Dodge ram. It has just under 40,000 miles on it.

jeremysgirl, dh bought a new truck and traded in a 9 year old truck. He got almost all of what he paid for the truck when it was new. Dealers are in need of inventory. That's why I bought a new car 3 months ago. I got a screaming deal on my trade-in. WTG. Jeremy. sueg, poor little Sophia. I'm glad to hear that it wasn't appendicitis and that she's feeling much better and heading home. KelleeM, we're very fortunate that dh can retire now. We have been very frugal in order to be able to do this. We knew when we first started out that we wanted to be able to travel and enjoy retirement years, but wanted to start just a wee bit early. I hope that you can retire very soon.

He did not come home with the truck. Yes! He said the best deal they could do was way over his target. However they had a used one with low mileage priced right. Same truck just 3 years older. Jeremy said he would have bought it but doesn't want a white one. Dealer said, let me see if I can find you a comparable one in another color. Call you by Tuesday. So there's that. We will see.

Jeremy will find a truck. The dealership doesn't want to lose a serious sale. Don't be surprised if they call Jeremy this weekend.

DH and I just got back from a walk around the Town Center lake. It is sunny and getting warm today! My page one has no political posts! I thought you couldn't block threads and I learned yesterday that you can! If you want to block them, click on the thread starter's name and block them. A drop down will happen where there is a box to check to block their threads too!. I only had to do 3 posters and got rid of everything! If you like political threads, ignore this message. Dinner might be Teriyaki Chicken. KelleeM , what is Marry Me Chicken? I thought this was a woman giving birth to a rotisserie chicken!

we are able to have left over chicken tonight.. so will make a salad, more of the same lemon pasta dish I made the other night and garlic parmesan roasted cauliflower for me.
dh is campaigning for a bmw7 and then he wants a micro airstream trailer or whatever it is called. I really don't want to spend that much on a car and I don't want a trailer at all.. we would have to store it in idaho. I am mostly happy with my tent and canopy for car camping.
oh well we will see. dh is taking doggie out for a long trail walk in the snow. I am reading and mostly doing not much today.. ran my errands, store, kitchen store for a garlic press, prescriptions and tablecloth to the dry cleaners. sunny this weekend. I may go out tomorrow, we will see.

Jeremy will find a truck. The dealership doesn't want to lose a serious sale. Don't be surprised if they call Jeremy this weekend. I hope so. Really the motive here was a truck that could pull our new trailer better. The Ram he has just isn't cutting it. So at least he had his eyes opened about how much the truck he wants costs and that a brand new one is out of our league. I guess today just made him confront the reality I've been trying to convey for a while now. I hope that dealer does find the right one for him. His mood could use a lift. It'd be nice if he could have a new to him truck that is bigger and badder than anything he's ever had.

Dinner will be rechauffe chicken pot pie. Did I even need to say that? Pretty new glasses, leannec. Love the truck shopping saga, jeremysgirl. Hope he winds up happy, whatever happens. And you too. P.S. also LOVE your new oven mitt. rymeswithpurple, I’m so glad your DH is feeling better! Happy Gotcha Day anniversary to Walker, taylortroop! And am I the last to realize quiltz is the former lostinspace? LOL, I’m a dope. Welcome back.

leannec love your glasses! A great choice. Are those the L.A.M.B. ones? jeremysgirl wow going for a haircut and he comes back with a truck! Hope he finds the right one and price! rymeswithpurple when my dh had pneumonia he forgot to keep drinking coffee (I don't drink coffee). He got massive headaches. So after reading your post yesterday keep the coffee coming. taylortroop happy gotcha day to Walker! Yes dogs bring so much joy to the house. sueg glad it wasn't anything serious! Last night in a book I was reading one character was making bagels. I turned to DH and commented I don't remember the last time I've had a Noah's bagel or a comparable one. We usually buy bagel thins at the store. So this morning DH ran to Noah's and bought us bagels, smear and is cooking bacon. Fortunately he just bought two bagels and not a dozen. Today I have some gardening and laundry to do. Tonight I may make puttanesca with roasted tomatoes from last year's garden. I just ordered myself a food mill as once frozen my roasted cherry tomato skins are chewy and I usually peel them off by hand. Hoping it makes the job faster!

We're celebrating DS's birthday today so we're taking him to one of his favorite restaurants (his choice). I'm happy because it's one of my favorites too, LOL. They serve "small plates" so you can try many things and share (or not!) with the rest of table. (ambar for those in the DC area that might know of it.) So that will be fun. I made him some blueberry muffins ( these, easy from scratch) for 2nd breakfast (late morning, LOL) and between him and DH, they're nearly gone. I need to go out for a couple errands and then wrap his gifts which are already boxed up and ready to wrap. I hope everyone is having a great weekend!

Dinner will be meatloaf, garlic mashed and green beans. I am doing all the prep now, including the cooking and mashing, as I am working tonight and tomorrow night so I want to go nap and all DH will have to do will have to do is put the meatloaf in the oven to cook and steam the green beans. That way when I get up I can just heat and eat.
leannec...Love your glasses...I hate picking out frames so much last time my script changed I had them put the new lenses in my old frames....which I do love so that was easy...and way cheaper as frames are SO expensive.

I found another recipe online that is very similar so I think I'll combine the two and make it tomorrow. The pasta won't work because of the carbs and I'll add spinach. Hopefully DH will want to ask me to marry him again. Thanks!
