Just read your old thread. FUNNY. So did you ever find your cervix? Was it under the couch?

Haven't read the thread you refer to but it sounds similar to a Pap smear I had once...the nurse could not find my cervix! I remember saying something like "it was definitely there when I left home", this was right before my toddler who I had had to bring with me opened the door to the corridor outside with people walking along it...!
Apparently my cervix was "round a corner", this has been useful info to share with nurses since then but was a bit weird to hear at the time.

I saw a post mentioning this a couple of days ago. I responded on there that they never have found it. I was tempted to put a picture of a cervix with "Missing" over it like the ones of missing people on the milk cartons and use it as my Avatar on here. But, I looked up some photos of a cervix and let me just say that a cervix isn't very photogenic. I decided against it. Besides, I like my puppy's picture. Rather than linking you to the post from a couple of days ago, I copied what I said there and pasted it here: -------------------------------------------- I had forgotten all about that! And they never did find it either. I went back to the obgyn and she "thought" she had it, but when the results came back, no cervix tissue. The next time I got the notice that I was due, I made the appointment with the obgyn again, only this time, a different one. She dug around for about 15 minutes too. I was waiting for her to get her spelunking gear out. She tried three different spreading gadgets, and made a valiant effort. She took a stab at what she hoped was the cervix and again, nope. The results came back as no cervix tissue. Again. So now I'm three for three. So before I go again, they want me to go have a scan done so they know where that sucker is. I hope with a scan acting as the treasure map, they can find it next time. ETA: I just thought of something. If she can find it after looking at the scan, I'm going to ask her to tie something onto the edge of it, like a leash, so that I won't have to go for a scan each time. She can just locate the leash and haul that thing forward a bit. Or maybe install dog tags so it jingles and she can locate it by sound? GPS tag? I don't want to keep going like this for the rest of my life. Or wait, is there an age where we don't have to get a pap anymore?

You laugh about tying something to your cervix. But the Dr had to do that to me when I was doing IVF. Because of the twist and turns going on in my uterus, the Dr put a stitch in my cervix. He left a long string. He tugged it to straighten everything out to implant eggs. It hurt like hell. So I hope they don't have to do that to yours.

Oh Lexica. I really hope the next time goes better. Maybe they can geocache for it? What kind of prize or moments would they get? Ha!
Sorry for your frustration but dang I appreciate the laughs.

I was half joking, but yours sounds too painful. Was it worth it? Do you have a little one for all your trouble? I hope so!

Thanks for sharing this - sorry for your troubles Lexica but it's very funny. I hope you get it sorted so you don't have to go through it again. You laugh about tying something to your cervix. It did work. And I have a sweet little girl. She was worth all the pain and humiliation.

It did work. And I have a sweet little girl. She was worth all the pain and humiliation. Yeah! Then the string thing worked! Well, I certainly don't want another baby (although I always did want a "sweet little girl" of my own....hmmmm) so if tying a string to it might confuse my doctor and she slips in some live ammo by mistake, I'm in big trouble. Can you imagine a pregnant 60-year old woman? Because I'm curious, I just looked up what is the oldest anyone has ever delivered a baby and it was a woman who was artificially inseminated at age 69! Wow. She vows to stay alive until the little girl can marry - at age 15! This was in India. Oldest woman to give birthAnd FYI, the youngest was a 5-year old in Peru. She had what is called precocious puberty, and started having periods at 2 1/2 years old. How sad is that? Can you imagine having a baby coming out of diapers and into a diva cup? That's just wrong, wrong, wrong. 5-year old who delivered healthy baby
As if my missing cervix wasn't enough, my odd curiosity made this thread take an even weirder turn!

I can't imagine being pregnant at 69 or 5. But I'm happy my cervix took one for the team. I got this pretty thing. That bottom right photo captures the face she makes when she smells something and says "yum yum".

OMG, Crazyhare, she is just beautiful! But that expression doesn't look so much like "yum yum" it looks more like "ew, who did that?" She certainly does look like she was worth the extra it took to get her here.

Missed the thread about your missing cervix! My ob/gyn couldn't find my ovaries after my hysterectomy (we opted to leave them in). After 2 ultrasounds, we found that one was almost gone/shrunk and the other one kept hiding. At this point, I think they're both gone.
Good question about getting checked via an ob/gyn!! I had a hysterectomy in 2012 (cervix & uterus removal), and I keep asking my primary doc if I need to go back and get checked (I "fired" the ob/gyn). She said it's not really necessary, but I remember hearing that it was. My mom still goes (at age 78!) and I remember that family members upwards of age 60 still went........ Curious to read any responses here.

That circle bush thing kind of looks like a cervix. It's dilated. Lexica, you should get a picture of a knitted cervix to use for the "missing" picture. Wasn't there one on the original thread?

I am here. I didn't know you could be "tagged" until now!
Anyway, did they have you put your fists under your bottom or lower back? It's a little trick to change the direction of the pelvis. It can work wonders in finding those difficult to reach cervices. Yes, that is the proper Latin plural for cervix. It is derived apparently from the word neck in Latin.

How DO you tag someone?? And, melissa do I still need an exam by an ob/gyn if I had a hysterectomy?
