I’ve noticed my adult kids don’t tend to put up curtains/drapes. The just have blinds on their windows.
In redoing some of our bedrooms, i’ve not put back any curtains and kind of like just the blinds. But I feel it’s odd not to have more on the windows.
So I’m curious what’s on your windows?

Blinds. Allergist highly recommends no drapes due to being dust traps. I can easily clean the blinds.

Just blinds. Curtains seem a bit old fashioned to me.

Blinds. I have material to make some simple faux Roman shades downstairs, but haven’t gotten around to it. And I’d like some simple light blocking curtains in our bedroom. Maybe some really billowy, luxurious curtains in my craft room to go behind the big chair I want to cover in a deep purple velvety fabric. Some day.

I generally don't like blinds and only have them in the bathroom.
It's sheers and curtains. I wouldn't call them "drapes", that sounds like old fashioned decor to me.

We don’t have any curtains in our house. Just bamboo shades on a few windows.

Check this out. I did velcro attachment to the trim in this bay window, cheap, and I hate looking at the neighbor's house. Damn I want to add a pic..but am on phone

Just blinds/shades, but truthfully I don’t even use those very often. I use to also have some windows that had small valances but I got rid of those a long time ago. It probably happened when I took them down to wash them and just never put them back up and was just as happy without them. 😄

Blinds only except double window in living room. Blinds and curtains both there.

I have a mix of everything in my house. If I could afford it, I would get rid of the curtains in the rooms that still have them, and replace them with dual blinds (one sheer and one blockout). In my lounge room I have dual blinds with sheer floor to ceiling S-fold curtains over them. I love that look.
IMO curtains / drapes are dated.

Some rooms have simple curtains some have blinds. None are drapey, fancy, fussy or frilly 😱

Room darkening drapes on all windows. They are inexpensive and keep it dark enough to sleep.

Blinds& sheers.
In rooms where privacy is needed I have blinds. I have sheers in my kitchen and in the room where the windows start at shoulder height. I’m saving for blinds though as it’s a guest room and my DD already complained that the room is too bright at the crack of dawn. Which I actually love but she is not my morning child at this point in her life.

We have curtains on all of the windows and blinds also on the windows in the bedrooms. In my house it looks too empty and unfinished not to have curtains. Curtains/drapes are definitely not old fashioned unless you have old fashioned curtains. ETA that our kitchen window doesn’t have a curtain of any kind.
I like being able to see outside and have a clear view so I take the screens off in the winter. I’ve seen plantation shutters on YouTube videos and think they must block so much light, even when open. I have never seen any in real life so it must be a more regional thing. We have wooden blinds in our bedroom that were here when we moved in. I don’t love them but they are room darkening and I need that.

We have shutters, and I ❤️ love them. They were installed by the previous owners, and I continue to be grateful as they are pricey. But I love the flexibility they provide in the amount of light I can have in the rooms. And I love the clean look they give.

Just blinds, we have awkwardly small windows and curtains wouldn't really work.

The kitchen and bathroom have no window coverings, and apart from one window in the living room, everywhere else is blinds. But I couldn’t tell you the last time I closed any of them. I would love to have shutters, but can’t afford them.

In my mind, curtains are short (windowsill length), while drapes are longer (floor length). Im sure that isnt accurate, but that is how we have always differentiated them. 😂

My living room and dining room windows/patio door have nothing on them. Because I have a walkout lower level, they are essentially on the 2nd floor. I have 2 ponds and a wetlands behind me, so no one can really see in, even on the trail.
The bedrooms have room darkening blinds.

Plantation shutters, pirouette shades, and simple linen curtains in the bedroom that open and close by themselves. The bedroom has a sliding glass door next to a butted glass bay window so shades weren't an option.
We got rid of all the valances and big swaggy curtains from the previous owner. We're having simple panels made for the living room and dining room because the ceilings are high and the windows look unfinished without them.

In my mind, curtains are short (windowsill length), while drapes are longer (floor length). Im sure that isnt accurate, but that is how we have always differentiated them. 😂 Generally speaking you are correct! Another difference is that drapes are made of heavier fabrics and lined while curtains are typically lighter fabrics and unlined. My house has a mixture. All windows in the living and kitchen area have wood blinds. The kitchen and reading room have decorative valances as well. Living room is just blinds. The 8' french slider to the backyard has nothing. Guest room has blinds/valances, DH's office and front bathroom has blinds. Our bedroom has a 6' french slider and we have blackout drapes on it. Our bathroom has one window with a valance and privacy film on the window panes. I just recently had Roman shades made for the two windows in my sewing room/office. Was looking for something fun and found a great fabric. They stay about halfway down most of the time.

All standard windows above grade have room darkening blinds (bedrooms, upstairs bonus room, kitchen, laundry, both upstairs baths).
The master also has some sheer drapey long curtains over the blinds. Guest room has something similar on one window behind the bed but not on the front window, apparently there must have been a matching set of curtains on the front window too but for some reason the curtain and curtain rod were taken down when the house was being shown and they were left for us in the closet but we never put them back up. Kinda weird. DD’s room has no curtains, just the blinds. With her allergies it was recommended to have no curtains in her room.
There’s a sliding vertical blind on the patio door in the kitchen, but it’s mostly left open.
The room that should be a formal living room has heavy drapes that were relatively new on the huge bay windows when we moved in so we left them up. They don’t look bad or dated IMO. There were similar drapes in the family room (not a bay window but a similar size) but there are also room darkening blinds on those windows that we close at times. The drapes looked great when we moved in but one of our dogs pretty much trashed them by constantly looking out that window. They got filthy from him rolling around in the driveway and then rubbing up against the drapes behind the chair. Ugh. I tossed them and replaced them with a simple sheer swag thing draped over the rod. It’s shorter so the current dog doesn’t touch it, plus he is less nasty than the last one. The only room that has no curtains or blinds is the basement, but those two windows are mostly below grade and are blocked by the egress window wells. It’s just my studio so I don’t care that there aren’t any window coverings. If it was a bedroom I would add some blinds there too.
I’m always kind of surprised by how many houses we drive by especially at night that have no window coverings at all and you can look right into the main parts of the house all the way from the street. We planted lilac bushes in front of our front windows so even in the winter there is something of a screen between us and the street, plus the house is set way back from the road.

We’re 50/51, and have curtains in every room in the house, except for the office because that’s usually where the dogs hang out.

I have cellular blinds on 3 windows in my house, and the rest have nothing, but I also don’t have to worry about people seeing into my house.
I think it’s really easy for curtains to look dated, and I hate cleaning traditional blinds.
(I had to get the blinds when I started working from home, because I couldn’t see my monitors well in the afternoon.)
