My dog needs a special urinary food. I got a prescription from our vet and uploaded it to Petco. I ordered it in December, and it was delivered very quickly.
I needed to reorder her food so I ordered it last week, 2/21. The order was submitted and I watched the tracking. On my account it says (twice) "The delivery has been created and is waiting assignment to a Carrier." There is a tracking number, so when I clicked on that, it shows it is on its way, but Estimated Delivery Time, 11:09 PM, in one day, by DoorDash. It provides the current details:
Order Details

Doordash Order #

If you cannot find a safe place or access the building, please call or text the customer. If they do not answer, please return to DashMart. Losses or thefts reported by the customer may make you ineligible to receive DashLink orders in the future."
Number of Items - 1
Subtotal - $0.00
Driver Tip- $0.00
I dont have a doordash acct, and I was suprised to see it being delivered with them. And since there is no tip, I wondered, is someone really going to drive that out to my rural area of Maryland? I contacted Petco, and the agent assured me it was on it's way, and when I told them my last package came thru the mail, the agent responded: We do have UPS, USPS, DHL & Doordash.
Well, ok, but then I asked if I was supposed to somehow leave a tip? and the agent replied: Yes, the assigned courier is Doordash. It is at your own discretion if you want to give a tip or not.
OK, well I wasn't looking to monitor my front door or stay up until 11 to try to catch the driver to deliver my dogfood, and I wasn't able to pick how the package was delivered. I don't have an account or even know how to leave a tip for the driver, and of course, I have zero cash on me (or I have like 3 dollars which is kind of an insulting tip, IMO). If it was delivered by the mail, like the last order, I wouldn't even assume I am supposed to tip.
Am I expected to tip? Or just assume Petco is paying the driver?
