This is on my mind because I just took DD#2 to the orthodontist. She has one wisdom tooth, on the bottom.
I have two wisdom teeth that never emerged, on the top.
DH had all four (and had them removed in college.)
My dad had all four, and had them removed when I was a kid.
My mom has two.
My sister has two, opposite of mine, on the bottom.
One of my volunteer friends wisdom teeth suddenly grew in, when she was 36.
Teeth are weird...

I never had wisdom teeth and neither did my mom. Both boys had theirs removed, so they must have inherited the wisdom teeth gene from their dad.

I had all four, two were impacted so I had to have oral surgery to have them taken out. Good times, good times. We just saw DD’s panoramic x-rays and could see all four of hers still hiding up in her jaws.

I had 3 and one had a j curved root that was digging into another tooth, so they had to saw into my jaw to get it out. Fun times.

DH had 3, I believe. The older two kids both had all 4 and needed them removed - DD23 because they were impacted and too close to a nerve and DS32 because his mouth is too small and even the dentist/hygenist had trouble reaching them to clean them. DD17 still has hers - they haven't descended yet - we thought for a while she wasn't going to have them since they weren't showing up on xrays but they finally showed.
I had all 4 removed

I had six wisdom teeth. Two on the bottom and four on the top. The extra two are pretty small and are not problematic. I had three removed (both bottom and one top) so I still have three. The three that were removed were all grown in and were impacted. The three remaining ones have not come through my gums and have not posed a risk to the neighboring teeth.

My mom had two, I think my dad had all four . . . me? I had none, so instead I was someone who needed root canals in all 8 molars! Not poor dental hygiene poor genetics. Yes teeth are weird!

I had 3. One was growing in perpendicular so it was extremely painful. The other 2 came in without causing any pain. If it hadn't been for the sideways one I never would have known they had come in.

I had 4, all impacted. Had them removed under general anaesthetic when I was 13. My eldest son still has his at 30. Youngest son had all 4 removed when he was 27.

Yes teeth are weird and I don't believe they follow any kind of heridity rules! I have had cavities in almost every tooth, and have had all four wisdom teeth removed. Daughter at age 49 has yet to have a single cavity and when she visited a dentist at one point, he called every worker in the office to look at her teeth cause they were so perfect with no fillings or cavities. She did have to have a tooth removed to make room, I think it was a wisdom tooth but that was so long ago, can't remember the details. The other daughter, had to have braces, and has had various cavities but not as many as me.

I had 2/4 wisdom teeth removed, braces for a year, and have never had a cavity; I don't think DH has ever had wisdom teeth removed, never has had braces, and has had a handful of cavities and root canals. He also had to have a baby tooth removed that never had an adult tooth come into push it out.

Teeth are weird! The wisdom teeth emergence in my family is spotty. So, I opted not to have mine removed. In my 40s, one of them decided to make its appearance. Had to pay for sedation because the insurance would only pay for it if at least 2 teeth were being removed. We decided to have Jay’s removed.
My uncle actually had a wisdom tooth emerge through the palate.

My husband and I have all four and had them removed. One son has two and our other son has three. They aren't bothered by them and the dentist said leave them in. They are 21 and 24.

My mom is 66 and going to get her 4th wisdom tooth removed soon. All 4 done at 4 different times. I got mine all pulled when I was 20. Both DDs had theirs surgerically removed.
When DD#2 was little I told the dentist I had I hard time getting the floss between 2 of her front bottom teeth. He said they were fused together, looked like 2, even a bit out of line with each other. When her adult teeth came in, only one came.

All four of mine came in late.. in my 20s. All were impacted.. I had them removed.
In fact when I was a kid a dentist told my mom that I didn't have any wisdom teeth. Is that possible? lol
My teeth/mouth are kind of an anomaly though. I have very very short roots on my teeth (born with it, not from braces which can mess with the roots), my mouth is very small, usually the dentist has to use the smallest sized tools available to fit in my mouth.
Otherwise nothing else on my body is small.. HA... Except my thumbs...I have short thumbs. Nothing weird looking or anyone would notice. But if you compare them they are always smaller.. not skinny though.. I have fat hands. I call them man hands.
Nice story there I veered onto. haha

I had all 4 of mine out at age 20. My dentist said he could pull two at a time or I could go to an oral surgeon and have all 4 out. I chose the oral surgeon so to just get it over in one shot. Glad I chose the oral surgeon because it seemed everyone I knew that had them pulled, they always looked like they had been in a fight.
My dad was said to have had no wisdom teeth.
My son's came in real early and he had all 4 out at age 16.
Grandson has 3. He's 25 and still has them. What I thought was odd is he has a tooth in a tooth, (Dens invaginatus) which I thought maybe was the extra wisdom tooth, but it is his eye tooth that had the extra tooth inside, so that didn't make sense.
