Hi everyone! It has finally stopped snowing here for the time being ... we got a lot of the white stuff yesterday ... no biggie, I won't be going anywhere today anyway! This is my view from my patio ... brrrrr! So today will be spent, indoors, doing a whole lot of nothing! Nothing wrong with that! I don't have a dinner plan yet ... maybe macaroni and tomatoes ... comfort food from my childhood! What is a meal that reminds you of your childhood? (Bonus points if everyone else thinks it's weird ... like macaroni and tomatoes!) What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a relaxing Sunday everybody!

Happy Sunday!
it's going to be 81 here again today so I'm going to be wearing shorts! I'm just tidying up the house and I may go look for spring decorations later or I may just hang out at home, not sure yet.
For dinner, it will be chicken something. Either chicken stroganoff or baby potatoes with chicken and a dijon cream sauce. Both recipes I saw on Pinterest that looked interesting.
When I was growing up, my parents used to make this "salad" that I thought was so fancy. It was a lettuce leaf with half of a canned pear with velveeta shredded on top. I thought that was the height of sophistication haha.

Hi friends! My fun today is cleaning the bathroom, which also entails scrubbing the litter box. Ugh. I was going to do it yesterday, but we went to the used bookstore instead. DH picked up a graphic novel version of Dracula and a Washington Irving compilation, I got a book called Frontier Medicine (https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/5602519), and we also got season 3 of South Park. He wanted to get a copy of the MASH movie, but they didn't have any.
Dinner tonight will be either crab cakes or salmon, rice, and a frozen veggie.
I think a meal that reminds me of childhood is a chicken zucchini casserole my mom made. I think it took me until I was in my late 20s/early 30s to tell her I was really never a fan. Most everything else she made was delicious, though. I still use her lasagna recipe.

That's such a beautiful photo, leannec, says the girl who has never had to deal w/snow. Macaroni and tomatoes sounds good, actually. How can you go wrong w/pasta and fresh tomatoes? My mother's macaroni and cheese was my childhood and adult favorite. I make it for the boys and they love it, too. Though my mom's was better, probably because it was my mom's. Another childhood thing is chocolate chip mint ice cream. We spent a lot of weekends staying w/my grandparents and my grandmother was a wonderful cook. Our dessert was always choco chip mint ice cream. So, it holds a special place in my heart. That probably explains why I like Starbucks peppermint mochas. I'm going to have some playtime today, but I don't know what I'm going to do. It'll be puzzle or video game. I have a Kohls order to pickup, but I think I'll do it tmw am. We're 2 days away from official retirement. DH denies excitement. Uh-huh. The guy is a really calm, serene guy, but he's practically bouncing off of the walls. Our trip to the snow has been officially cancelled until April, because the blizzard conditions haven't stopped. I hope we can find an alternate place to go. I need a break from this recliner after months stuck in it. Enjoy today, my tribe. Play, relax and re-charge.

My mom would just make noodles and put butter and garlic salt on them. It was a really cheap lunch. Haha...other than that everything was bland and boiled to death.
It is warm here. It's going up to 63 today. Jeremy is even on the golf course. I'm still in my pj's. I'm crocheting. I have 5 more rounds to go on my blanket. I was going to quilt but I just feel like I'm so close to done with this. Gotta keep going.
Since Jeremy is out of the house and I'm just crocheting something easy, I decided to turn on the TV. I was looking on prime for documentaries and I found one about the duggars. Decided I would watch it. I never watched their show but they were so all over the media you couldn't help but notice who they were. I read Jill's book not that long ago.
I put chili in the crockpot this morning. I will make corn muffins before I serve it.

Macaroni and tomatoes sounds good, actually. How can you go wrong w/pasta and fresh tomatoes? Ummmmm, hate to break it to you but no fresh tomatoes are used in this recipe. It's canned diced tomatoes ... and my spin is to splash them with some Worstershire sauce! Yum! I understand why others would find this unappealing!

Today is ds' 26th birthday. We went to Maggiano's for dinner last night and have leftovers enough for today and tomorrow! (When you order an entree, you can add a take home pasta for $6)

rymeswithpurple , we started using the BREEZE litter system. I love it. So easy to clean and it doesn't smell. The cats took to it right away, too. It's not cheap, but I highly recommend it for cat owners. leannec , that still sounds good.
jeremysgirl, I saw Shiny Happy People and it was really more about Bill Gothard's organization. Nevertheless, that family has a whole lot of whackadoo.

A regular Sunday here. Church this morning with my 1st Communion class - they are starting to get excited about their 'big day' and I am having to try harder to keep them on track of our lessons, but they are really a lovely group of kids. One of them asked me today if I got paid to teach them, and they all seemed surprised when I said I did it for the love of it and of trying to inspire kids.
Our weather is lovely at the moment - 17°C today and the same tomorrow and sunny with hardly any wind. I was almost too warm when I went for my lunch after lunch.
Dinner tonight is going to be Asian beef stirfry. We bought basic marinated beef strips with green beans from the butcher, and we'll add extra vegetables and serve with rice.
One of my favourite food growing up was a Friday night regular - Tuna and sweet corn casserole, made with tinned tuna and tinned sweet corn in a mornay sauce and breadcrumbs scattered on top to crisp up, served with rice or noodles. I also made it for my kids when they were growing up and still make it now when I need a quick Friday dinner. My younger DS rang and asked me for the 'recipe' not long after he moved into his own apartment.

sueg , it's always a compliment when our kids ask for a recipe. It's an ego boost that reminds us that they enjoyed something we made for them.

We just walked ~ very cold and windy but no rain! We had some violent hail yesterday! I remember two salads that we used to have. My sister and I were in charge of making them. One was a ring of pineapple over a lettuce leaf with a dollop of cream cheese in the center. The other was half of a banana with a smear of mayo and topped with walnuts. Both were yummy but I have never made them for my family. Dinner might be the spaghetti and meatballs I keep saying I'm going to make.

it snowed about 1 inch last night.. and supposed to snow this afternoon. I decided to skip skiing today, as it was -3 F at the top with a 7 mph wind this morning and it is sunday, so would be crowded. I have all next week to enjoy myself.
reading and doing some cleaning around here.
I remember fondly my mom making a casserole..condensed. vegetable soup out of a can and ground beef and macaroni. and we would go to the park at the beach on hot nights. along with homemade oatmeal cookies. we had a very restricted diet growing up because everyone had food allergies. every meal was eaten at home or made at home. home made burgers, home made pancakes and home made ice cream were some of my favorites. my kids love all my baking recipes.. I have a picky eater so never made soup or casseroles or even mac and cheese. I did make mac and cheese when they were older.. never out of a box.
breakfast for dinner tonight.

Good Sunday morning, all. I have had a busy week and the upcoming one doesn’t look much better. Dinner tonight will be rechauffe mystery meat my son found in the freezer and put out for me because he needed more space in the freezer. Pretty sure it’s pot roast in a tangy gravy. I’ll make noodles or rice or something to eat with it. And there’s fresh asparagus! Which will be air-fried, I think. I pinned a recipe for that the other day. My mom’s cooking wasn’t particularly memorable. She did make a nice turkey dinner with all the trimmings, though, and I still do all that her way. leannec, your snow is gorgeous! To look at, not to live in.

Dinner tonight will be pizza from Plum Tomato...our favorite place. Last night when I was in the freezer giving DH options for tonight CLEARLY he wasn't keen on any, as his reply was How about pizza, I'll spring for it!!! Only a fool would argue with that offer!!!
I think I have to say Mom's meatloaf and mashed potatoes would be the meal for me.....Although my mom was a good cook.. I'm one of 7 so her meals were nothing fancy just good food cooked in volume!!!

It was my dad's fish fry night that was always my favorite. Fresh caught fish too. The only time they let us have French fries.

DH went for an ATV ride with my brother this morning. When he got home he had to spend almost 2 hours power washing his machine. They like to find all the mud!
I gave Walker a good brushing today and combed out enough hair equivalent to a small Chihuahua. He hates getting brushed so it’s a bit of an event, but so necessary.
Our neighbours have a huge maple tree that overhangs into our backyard. It’s old and a bit rotten. DH is particularly worried about one large branch that will hit our shed if it comes down in a storm. We had a tree guy here this afternoon to give us a quote on taking down that one large branch. We are waiting to receive the quote but I’m sure it won’t be cheap!
My mom used to make a concoction that we called garbage. It was very similar to goulash - ground beef, noodles, pasta sauce.
Not sure about supper yet.

Okay, friends, advice time. In November, January, and February, I've had upper respiratory infections. There's never been a diagnosis of an ear infection, despite having pain in my ears.
I do have a history of sinusitis and had sinus surgery in 2018. I'm not sure if I should see an allergist/immunologist about these infections or someone else. What say the peas?

She was pushing TMJ really hard last time I saw her, but the muscle relaxers she gave me really did nothing. 🤷🏼 It's frustrating.

rymeswithpurple - I agree about finding a better ENT as a starting point. Good luck! Dinner will be spaghetti with fresh tomato & basil (meatless). My mom was a great cook but did mostly basic types of meals, except for special occasions. So many of her meals made it into my repertoire (and some of them now into my kids' too). One of my favorite comfort foods of hers though was her homemade mac & cheese. She usually served it with her meatloaf, which I also like (and still make occasionally). DD2's favorite comfort meal was those 2 together, which she still makes for herself. Both of my siblings and I still make and prefer her barbecue sauce over any store-bought BBQ sauce too - she typically used it on chicken breasts. I also LOVED my mom's scalloped potatoes, but I've tweaked that recipe somewhat over the years to add a little caramelized onion between the layers and YUM.

Is the weekend over? How did this happen? Going out for dinner tonight. When I think about favorite things growing up, it'd be my mom's pork fajitas with green chilis. It was always a treat on the rare occasion my Dad wasn't around for dinner as he wasn't a fan. Most of her Mexican recipes had been "Irished" for my Dad, but not that one.

We had Maccas on the way home from the airport. It was 11pm Melbourne time, but only 8pm Perth time, from where we came. I finally have my new Macbook set up. Going to spend the day airdropping stuff my my old one. I don't think you need to do that. You use Migration Assistant to move stuff from your old one to your new one.

I’d start with that ear nose and throat doctor. I think the same thing. Hopefully you get some relief. Growing up my mom & grandma made pierogies. Prune are my favorite. None of my siblings eat them. My sister still makes them because 1 of her boys eats them too. A favorite meal was steak in ketchup. Pounded out round steak cooked in a ketchup gravy with mushrooms over mashed potatoes. My siblings hate it. I don’t actually cook it. I have a few times though. My mom cooked a lot of red meat. I barely ate it. I just never liked the taste. Dd 1 is the same. She eats zero red meat. We had another family dinner today. Balsamic pork tenderloin with sweet potatoes, broccoli, and salad. For dessert we had pulled pastry filled with bourbon vanilla whip cream and strawberries. I saw it on IG. The whip cream was super easy to make. Dd 3 gave me the bourbon vanilla flavor from Trader Joe’s. I mopped all the floors and cleaned all the area rugs. Dh has pneumonia and bronchitis. He finally went to UC today. sueg I bet most of those kids went home and told their parents you aren’t paid.

teddyw, I hope that your husband gets meds that will help him to feel great and breathe easier, quickly. Poor guy. rymeswithpurple, start w/the ENT. Ask about the TMJ, but your dentist might be go-to for suspected TMJ. It can make your ears ache. It goes all around the face and ears when it's flaring. I developed it w/a head injury many years ago and it's not fun.
