Does anyone else ever look at their wish list and wonder, "What was I thinking?" I regularly see posts on here for new product lines and immediately add a bunch of stuff to my wish list on sb.com or ACOT, really excited about it. I try to limit myself to only a couple orders a year so I go through my wish list and wind up deleting a good 75% of what I'd added in the last few months. Like, why was I so excited for the Poppy and Pear line? It's very pretty but I can't see myself ever actually using any of it. Why did I add so many mushroom rub-ons? What am I going to do with Winnie the Pooh paper?? I don't even have kids! I've saved sooo much money by giving myself the time to think about it...

I add to my cart regularly, then I end up going through my cart a couple time and deleting things. I do a final edit, just prior to purchase.
Sometimes, I delete because I have something similar, sometimes it was a first glance-impulse add, sometimes I delete because of budgetary constraints(in that case, I bookmark the item....for the future).
Sometimes I add to the cart, because it saves it..... and I don't have to remember what was the item I was looking at?

I usually go through my wishlist before I place an order. I add to my cart if item is on sale or I’ve come down with FOMO.
I have several carts at ACOT for different types of products or manufacturers.

A lot of the time, the item is out of stock when I finally decide to order. I'm usually not heartbroken and can find something similar.

I had a vineyard kit from Photoplay on my wishlist/saved cart for about a year because I didn't like everything in the kit. When I went to the scrapbook expo this past weekend I found the same kit at the Photoplay booth for $6 (if you bought 4 kits total). My friend and I were able to find 4 kits together so it worked out! I'm so glad I waited to buy it.
I usually try and wait to buy kits or bigger ticket items because I truly don't need another thing so I'll do the wishlist/saved cart route and usually end up removing everything from the cart/wishlist after a year or so because I didn't need it.

I find that saving to a wishlist can also trick your brain into thinking you have actually ordered because it feels so much like online shopping - click click done - but that getting the thing isn't all that important. You apparently get the rush of brain-happy-juice in the moment *just before* you actually buy. Once you hand over the money (ugh) you actually own the thing and have to store or find time to use it (ugh) and your happiness often goes back down.
Sometimes your brain just wants to joy of finding the pretty thing and claiming it! Months later you've proved you can live without it and also found a dozen new things that might be better anyway...
So yeah, wishlists for the win!!

I also do this. I wish SB.com would let me have more than one wishlist.
Sometimes I add brand new collections with no plan for it and then go back and like why did I want this?
But sometimes I do think I had ordered it. Which has caused some crazy searching before looking at past order receipts

I don't ever say to myself "what was I thinking", but honestly I do get happy that most of the stuff on it, I am truly not interested in it anymore.

Which has caused some crazy searching before looking at past order receipts I wish they had multiple lists, or a way of searching or categorizing wishlists too, or putting it in some other order than recency or a-z. Sometimes I just want to see all the Doodlebug I have on the list! And removing things from the middle of my looooong wishlist is a pain. I also accidentally made some items have a wish quantity of 2 - I think when I put them in the cart then decided to save them until later but they were already on the wishlist - and one time ended up with 2 of the same stencil ordering in a hurry. But editing the middle of the wishlist is so slow because it refreshes each time you make a change. |

Yeah, I do this with Scrapbook.com and with Amazon, too. Putting it on the wishlist or adding it to the Amazon cart to save for later gives me that dopamine hit of a purchase without actually purchasing it. I scroll through my carts a few times a year and delete quite a bit of it. It's also interesting to scroll through and see what I was interested in at what point in time. I definitely have a lot of varied interests over the course of a year!

I'm also grateful for wish lists, and I often add things I have no intention of purchasing because they're pretty to look at. I periodically do a big purge, opening all the items and deciding if they are still pretty enough to stay, and there have been more times than I can count where I've wondered what I was thinking when I saved a product.
