It does not feel like ten years have passed. We watched a new BBC documentary about the event called Why planes vanish. It was interesting because there is new theory to help find the wreckage . Link to long article on the BBC news site www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-68476289From the link about the new theory BBC Retired British aerospace IT specialist Richard Godfrey, another person who has been pulled into the MH370 vortex, believes he has now pinpointed a much smaller search area, using innovative analysis of short-wave radio test transmissions made routinely by ham radio enthusiasts. This should allow a more concentrated search by the drones, making several passes over the same area. "They record 1.7 billion records a year in their database. Imagine a huge fisherman's net, across the globe, full of radio signals. Every time an aircraft passes through this net, it breaks a hole in the net. That tells me where an aircraft was at a particular time. Over the six hours of MH370's flight into the southern Indian Ocean I have been able to find 313 anomalies in the radio signals at 95 different points in time. That gives you a much more refined flight route, and a more accurate determination of a crash location." Richard's method is currently being tested by the University of Liverpool, which expects to establish how valid it is later this year. Perhaps this might be the breakthrough to get answers for the families.

I watched that last night and thought it was really interesting. I do hope they can find something that gives answers to the families. It is tragic to lose a family member in a plane disaster, but to simply not know why and how it happened adds another layer to the tragedy.

sueg, yes, the not knowing is such an extra burden on the families.

I dont remember who it was..

I seldom get that invested in news stories but this one really captivated my attention. How could over 200 people just disappear? I followed this on the news for days and then I remember reading an article someone posted on 2P's from a Canadian pilot that gave a plausible explanation for what may have happened to the plane. I hope they recover the wreckage so the families and the rest of the world can have answers to that terrible loss.

I watched a different documentary about this and also vividly remember when the plane when missing. Those poor families. I can't imagine.

This is one of the most surreal events in my lifetime. I can't comprehend how the passengers' families must feel.

Hard to believe it’s been 10 years. Also hard to believe with all the technical advances, etc., it hasn’t been found.

I followed this story so closely. I had to fly from Seattle to Europe in April and this missing flight gave me all sorts of anxiety when they couldn't find it. And in those early days they didn't really know if it came down on it's own, was brought down, etc. It was weird.

I remember being captivated by the disappearance of flight MH370, as well. I read a few articles this morning and some pieces of the plane have been discovered off the coast of Reunion (a small, French island east of Madagascar), but the main airplane and black box have not been discovered. The leading theory seems to be mass-murder-suicide by the pilot but at this point, it's only a theory. I cannot image how family members feel with no real answers after 10 years. How heartbreaking.

Wow, I can't believe it's been 10 years already! I have watched a few documentaries about this, there are so many theories. It's quite unbelievable that they have no idea where the wreckage is.
I keep thinking about the Australian couple who lost their father/FIL and all three kids in the disaster. It's just unfathomable.
ETA: Wrong air disaster, the kids died in MH17 that was shot down 4 months after MH370 disappeared.

I can't believe it's been 10 years. It still boggles my mind that a plane full of people just disappeared. No further clues, no further evidence of what happened.
