Hi everyone! We have great weather this weekend ... all the snow is melting ... back to wearing a hoodie as a jacket! No big plans during the day today ... Going to my mum's place for dinner tonight ... many of the staff members there are from the Philippines and they are making a dinner of their cultural food tonight ... we are going to give it a try! This is what I posted on FB today ... I am 56 and look nothing like these "old" people! What are your plans today? What is on your menu tonight? Have a great Saturday everybody!

We're going on a hike this morning. Then we're going for brunch at Mimosa House in the Town Center. After that it will be games, relaxing and DH will watch some golf while DS and I watch some other stuff. I want him to watch the finale of The Floor and he's on the later part of season 4 of Billions. Dinner will be Tri-tip with a fruit salad and zucchini. More birthday cake after dinner.

Seriously leannec shame on you! You don't ever, ever criticize Diane Keaton. 😱😂😉 She's perfect in my mind. Old or young. She's just timeless. I know I'm not big into movies but hers I will make an exception for. Well I am sewing. And I was complaining about my old $100 Kenmore sewing machine from 1998. Jeremy said, let me finish my movie and then I'll shower and take you to the quilt store. We will pick out a new machine!!!! *This* is why I make the homemade pasta! 🤣 We are having takeout Chinese tonight. Jeremy was having a craving. I haven't figured out what I want. Their whole menu is good. Jeremy will have sweet and sour chicken because he always does.

I started slowly this morning, but as I didn't really have anything I needed to do it didn't matter. I didn't even need to go grocery shopping - well, until I discovered that the potatoes had all sprouted! This afternoon I was signed up for sorting for the big English Book Sale I volunteer with each year. I was down for 3:00-5:30pm, but by 4:30 we'd run out of books to sort, so the 2 people with keys said they'd stay another half hour and the rest of us left. Thankfully, there was a supermarket not far out of my way home, so I stopped off there to get potatoes and a couple of other things I thought of (and a few that just caught my eye as I walked around - the danger of going to a different supermarket!) I arrived home to see the last 15 minutes of our football game - we were 7-1 up at that point, so just fun to watch it play out and then watch the replay of all the goals. I might try to find a replay to watch tomorrow afternoon or Monday, to enjoy it in its full glory!
Dinner tonight is Weiner sausages with fried potatoes and sweet corn. One of the shops I stopped by at the market yesterday has the best variety of sausages and their Weiners are delicious.

DS and family have finally made it to Florida. They left home on Friday night with the plan to drive straight through. By last night they were in Georgia and decided to get a hotel for the night so the boys could have a swim and they could sleep in a bed. Apparently with 3 boys, they had to stop more than anticipated during the drive.
I went to feed their cat this morning and I found her sleeping on the bed where she doesn’t normally sleep. She thinks she’s on vacation too.
Went to the grocery store and picked up a book at the library. I certainly don’t need any more books but this one had been in order for awhile.
Supper will be leftover pork chops made into wraps.

many of the staff members there are from the Philippines and they are making a dinner of their cultural food tonight oh lucky you! Filipino food is delicious - if there's lumpia...it's the best! Well I am sewing. And I was complaining about my old $100 Kenmore sewing machine from 1998. Jeremy said, let me finish my movie and then I'll shower and take you to the quilt store. We will pick out a new machine!!!! Enjoy! Dinner tonight is taco salad with homemade pico de gallo - we have leftover mango that'll be on the side and I'll cut up the pineapple today or maybe tomorrow. Headed to the grocery store this afternoon (and I'm sure DH and I will play Pokemon Go along the way) but otherwise no plans. Maybe scrapbooking?

Not sure what we are having for dinner tonight, but I'm heading out to Costco in a few minutes and might pick something up there. DH is at his mom's house for the day with several of his siblings helping her work on downsizing & organizing for her move into a senior living condo in the next month or so. He may or may not be home for dinner so we will play it by ear. I met up with a friend last night for dinner and it was delicious. We went to a restaurant that I had only been to once before but it was for lunch/brunch, so I'd never even seen their dinner menu, and my friend had never been. Both of us loved our picks (MD crab cakes for me - can't go wrong with those in this area). Before dinner we spent some time at a "cat cafe" where they have rescues up for adoption and people pay for a time reserved slot to spend time with the kitties in their giant playroom, well stocked with all manner of climbing, snuggling, and playing things - variety of cat climbing towers, wall & window perches, low and medium height cat-friendly furniture, lots of toys, a little door to their escape room if they're not feeling social, and 2 large air purifiers. It was lots of fun - we both already have cats we love and neither of us is looking to adopt any more, but it was nice to visit and play with the kitties while we chatted. jeremysgirl - have fun at the sewing center!!! Come back and let us know whether you ended up getting a new machine, and if so -- which one?! So exciting! Also...what a sweet gesture from Jeremy! sueg - I'd love to take a peek at the books in your book sale.... My mom used to volunteer for a large used book sale when I was growing up and I remember how much fun it was to browse through the titles looking for a treasure. (Although I remember there were quite a few old boring "large print edition" Reader's Digest books...not fun for my 12-year old self.)

One recently opened here but they charge $20 an hour. I get that it is a rescue group that opened it but it's not doing too well because of the price to enter on top of the cost of their books and food items. I was hoping to go but not for $20.

(Although I remember there were quite a few old boring "large print edition" Reader's Digest books...not fun for my 12-year old self.) I think you'd love it. We have everything, from board books for babies through fiction, true crime, politics, sci fi and so much more. I love volunteering because we get first pick of the books - today I found a book that is on my Amazon list as well as 3 kids books that my granddaughters will love. I always volunteer for the first shift of sales - we start about an hour before the sale opens, and I do a quick run-though of crime fiction and children's (0 - 5 years) to see what's there. We have several popular authors (John Grisham, Elizabeth George, Sophie Kinsella etc) who have their own boxes, as we get so many of their books. we also get a lot of recycling - people buy form us one year and return the books to be sold later. Last sale, we made over €11,000! And this is with us selling books form €0.50 - €4 on average.

That is pricey. Especially given that I'm sure a lot of people would want to take children. $60 for mom +2 kids is a lot for only an hour.

so another sunny day in paradise. since it is saturday, I decided not to ski. but I went over to the base of the mountain to get a deal on a new pair of ski boots. there is a boot fitter there who is really super super good.. and there are few professional boot fitters around. he fit my boots 8 yrs ago. so I ordered boots, and will pick up next winter --and I get 20% off.
then I went over, laid down in the snow and got some more videos of dh loading onto the chairlift. he pointed out that I had been standing next to maria shriver and her daughter.. even remarked to them what a great day it was. (I didn't really recognize her).. she must have had a grandkid on the beginner hill.
so for dinner, we are going down valley (8 miles) to thai food tonight!! yeah!! no cooking.
so I was going to watch a little tv, but the sound on youtube tv is not working for some odd reason. oh well.

ntsf, Maria Shriver has been traveling this week. She was at the SOTU address the other night. Glad that you're still taking advantage of the ski slopes. We have a cat cafe here. I haven't gone, because I would play w/everyone and then want to adopt them. I have no self control when it comes to kitties. I went to the mall this am for a couple hours. It used to be so busy and now it's so empty. I'm trying to find lightweight travel clothing. I'll be resting for the remainder of the day. Dh is going to have rechauffe pork chow mein for dinner. leannec, Lumpia is delicious. Pancette is also very good. Enjoy your dinner.

leannec, also watch for adobo. So yummy. Love Filipino food. We get a lot of it here in the Bay Area. The town next door is heavily Filipino. Our Costco is full of Filipino and other Asian foods. If I want Jewish food, I have to go to my mom’s Costco. Marina, I miss seeing destined2bmom’s posts, too. rymeswithpurple, I loved the pic of you and DH that you posted a few days ago, but it was so late in the day, I’m thinking most of us didn’t see it. You should repost it sometime when you can post early in the day. There’s still rechauffe here, but I’m not really interested in any of it. We’ll just see what’s for dinner.

Hey, if you're ever in the DC/Northern VA/Maryland area, let me know and I'll hook you up, LOL! There's some pretty good campsites about an hour from here (or so I've heard, I'm not a camper myself but have relatives who are).

We hadn't been out for dinner in nearly a whole week so DSO suggested that we go out. I wanted to try a dumpling place that friends had told us about, so we went there. OMG it was soooooo good! We ordered way too much, so there is no need for me to tell you what we'll be having for Sunday dinner - rechauffe dumplings! We have great weather this weekend ... all the snow is melting ... back to wearing a hoodie as a jacket! We have great weather too, but at the opposite end of the thermometer! We headed off to the beach at 8am this morning, and were back home by lunchtime. leannec , also watch for adobo. So yummy. Love Filipino food. We get a lot of it here in the Bay Area. The town next door is heavily Filipino. Our Costco is full of Filipino and other Asian foods. If I want Jewish food, I have to go to my mom’s Costco. That's interesting to know! I assumed all Costco stores had pretty much the same stuff, but what you're saying makes sense. There are four Costcos in Melbourne, I'd be interested to see if what they stock differs much from store to store. Ours has a lot of Asian food - I don't know whether that's because we have a large and growing Asian community here, or whether it's because Aussies love Asian food so much.

So I used some of my rechauffe to make linguini with asparagus spears (cut into shorter chunks), heated in a butter/garlic sauce with a dab of rechauffe tomato sauce added, and topped with shaved Parmesan cheese. It was delish. There’s still some left, might be brunch tomorrow.

cadoodlebug it sounds like you’ve had a really nice birthday weekend. I came to my sister’s for the weekend. My other sister’s school was having a fundraiser and we bought tickets. Both my sisters won quite a few prizes. They shared some things out of them with me. We had pepperoni rolls I’m in bed for the night but I’m starving. I hope the weather improves here. It rained all day long. There’s a cat cafe by my old house. Not sure what they charge because we’re all allergic
