We're in the path of totality, although the eclipse happens while many of the kids are on the busses. Many districts are closing for the day or early. Mine has stated that they'll be open and doing eclipse activities all day. The partial eclipse will start while the upper grades are on the bus. (My kid gets home at 3 and totality is at 3:23.) The elementary kids will be on the busses totality. I'm a little concerned about distracted drivers and the elementary kids hurting their eyes since the driver needs to focus on driving and not keeping their glasses on.

It will only be about 75% here. I’ve asked my kid if her science teacher has said anything about it but she hasn’t. Her science class is pretty early in the day so she would have to miss a different class to go outside to see it. I thought about getting some glasses but haven’t yet.

The library in the next town over had the glasses. They were having a special event about it due to it being Spring Break week. I got 2 pairs and some pamphlets. So, if you still need some, a library may have them.

We will have totality for like 3 min or so here in the Rochester NY area. Local schools are all closed for April Break the week before, so most added that Monday onto the time off. Works for me as a school employee (sub)! Traffic is likely to be a nightmare around here, so the districts made a wise move. Our one interstate, the Thruway (I90) that basically goes E to W Albany to Buffalo, they are predicting drivers will be just pulling over to the side of the road to watch. Not a smart move, the Thruway Authority is trying to get the word out to not do that. I imagine the state police & other agencies are dreading the day. My son commutes to college (RIT) & classes aren't cancelled, but hopefully the profs will cancel class or migrate to online for the day.
I'm looking forward to it. My friend, a teacher, is hosting a small get together eclipse party in her backyard. She found all sorts of ideas online. There are playlists out there - so many songs through the years about the sun/moon/eclipse. And food ideas - Moon Pies, yellow frosted cupcakes with an Oreo on top, round foods like pepperoni pizzas, meatballs. Chances are it'll be cloudy, it is WNY after all! But it will be cool to experience.
My daughter lives near Niagara Falls & luckily works remotely. Her husband on the other hand does not and will likely have fun trying to get home. They live on Grand Island, which has 2 bridges to get on/off. If he's smart, he'll just go hang out somewhere till traffic calms down.
And I had the foresight thankfully to get the glasses in Dec to put inthe stockings. Beware of ordering glasses off Amazon, you have to be sure they actually work. There are cheap versions out there that won't protect your eyes.

Just adding this comment for those who may be traveling to or live in more rural area or smaller states.
With the huge possible influx of visitors, our news is already talking about how they are unsure of the repercussions it will have on the cellphone network and cell towers. We already have spotty service in a lot of places. They are bringing in boosters and mobile tower type devices to try and make sure that 911 calls can be pushed through and to try and get maximum coverage with all the added people trying to use cell service.
So there is a chance that some people will not be able to stream live and they are asking people to try and pay attention to how much data they are using.

I'm either heading to my sister's between Blanco and Boerne or going to the ranch where a friend has been ranch-sitting outside of Marble Falls where several friends are going, including people traveling from CO and WA. I think the plan at the second place is to stay at the ranch but go towards Fredericksburg for the event. I have to firm up my decision this weekend. I have a pair of the cardboard glasses from October (library had an eclipse event for the annular) and my better eclipse glasses just arrived this week, so I'm ready! I'm taking Monday and probably Tuesday off from work (to avoid the crazy travel back home Monday).

We're in the path of totality. I haven't heard of any schools cancelling here. I also haven't heard of any activities for the schools here. I don't have any children in school so I will only hear of that if it's on the news or somebody mentions it to us.

We are in the path of totality for almost 4 minutes. All of the schools are shut down, hotels are booked, and the city is bracing for hundreds of thousands of visitors. We were told to treat it like a disaster- fill up on gas, get your groceries and stay home.

This, plus gas and food issues, traffic issues, I really think it’s going to take a lot of people by surprise. At least visitors. Our small town is doing a good job getting information out to businesses and residents so most will be prepared. I don’t remember if it’s this thread or another where I posted but at least one of the towns in the Texas hill country are basically parking ambulances at various places around town so they can respond to emergencies better. The roads are standstill during normal big events, and this is going to be way beyond a normal big event. So if you’re going to a small town at the very minimum I’d consider getting your gas and food supplies before you get close. Look up the town/county website and see what they recommend. If you have reservations call and confirm, and then get there early. If you’re going to be late call and tell them you’ll be there. Don’t assume you’ll be able to get in to the limited restaurants, or even fast food places. Figure out where the local grocery stores or Targets/Walmarts are, hopefully close enough to walk. Have all information, including maps that you need screen printed in case you don’t have service. If you’ll be separating from your party at any point have a meet up place and consider walkie-talkies. We are in the path of totality for almost 4 minutes. All of the schools are shut down, hotels are booked, and the city is bracing for hundreds of thousands of visitors. We were told to treat it like a disaster- fill up on gas, get your groceries and stay home. Same.

I live in a very small city next to two larger cities. We have a new fire and police station right around the corner from us but the major hospital is about 10 miles away through the largest of the two. It would be a challenge to get there if traffic is as crazy as they expect it to be. We plan on gassing up mid week and having plenty of groceries and we aren’t planning on leaving the house. DH will be working from home. Our news station has a nightly countdown.

I’m in the path of totality. They have canceled school because of concerns for increased traffic with people coming to view the eclipse. It’s still a teacher workday. I think the district is hoping most of us will use a sick day and not come. I wish they would let us do a virtual PD day.
I already have eclipse glasses for all of us.

I am kinda second guessing where we are staying in Dallas for the eclipse. It's down by the American Airlines Center, off Moody St. I told DH we probably wont be able to get anywhere from the hotel once the eclipse is over because of traffic. . There is plenty to do at the hotel -- restaurants and what not, but it almost makes me panicky thinking I am *stuck* at the hotel til who knows when. I keep telling myself traffic is going to suck anywhere in the DFW area though so I might as well deal with it.

Our town is not in the path of totality, and you'd have to travel about 3 hours to get to the path, but our school system is taking the day off. It's actually the Monday after our Spring Break and as so many families skipped school last eclipse to go see it, they are afraid that will happen again.
I will miss the eclipse as I will be having my right knee replaced! Hopefully, the whole surgical team won't run outside in the middle of my surgery just to experience the 80% eclipse we are supposed to get. I can just hear my surgeon now "Get back in here! It's not that impressive. We have to stitch her back together."
