Good morning.
I feel much better today and it'll hopefully be a productive day. The appt w/our designer went very well. Today she's gonna come by w/paint samples, so that dh can paint the hallway while I'm gone. It's going to be a gray w/blueish tones.
I think I'll spend some time on my latest puzzle. I keep trying to do so and then I get distracted or busy.
Dinner might be tacos. Dh wanted them last night.
What's for dinner?
What is everyone up to today?
Happy day to all!

I am just home from a trip into the city. I had a hair appointment at 11, then walked to the top end of the main pedestrian zone, where I had my lunch. Then it was to the toy store above, to buy a birthday present for Sophia and a new TRex for the toy library, then a bit of a walk to a shoe store for new walking shoes and finally caught the train home. I am having a coffee break now before thinking about dinner. I have a nice fillet of pork and I think it will become satay with rice on the side.

scrapmaven , I'm glad you're feeling better and that the appointment went well. Will you still send your suitcase today? It's dreary outside but DH should be teeing off in about 3 minutes. I'll run some errands and hopefully will start prepping for my 4-day scrapbooking retreat today. It starts on April 4th. Dinner will be Teriyaki Chicken.

Happy Tuesday!
I'm back at work but working on social media which I like to do. That should keep me busy most of the day, but I really could use another day off as yesterday was so relaxing.
Dinner is leftover chicken thighs and pasta from last night. I've really been watching what I eat and thankfully the semaglutide has taken away most of my cravings so that my big splurge for a snack after dinner is a salad. I'm just not hungry most of the time so that's been nice.
I hope you all have a great day!

I feel much better today and it'll hopefully be a productive day. I'm so glad to hear you are feeling better. Were you able to get your suitcase ready to ship? Hopefully you did. The weather here is incredible. It's supposed to get up to 66 degrees today and sunny! I cannot wait to open my windows! Neither can my cats! I did my taxes this morning. I was up early. It wasn't near as bad as I thought it would be. I owe $900 federal (It was the first year I couldn't claim Esther) and I get back $600 in state. So this was pretty good given that I hadn't yet adjusted my withholding. Now I will adjust so hopefully we don't owe next year. I have a hair appointment at 4 today. I got a cancellation appointment snagged. I'm pretty glad about that. Jeremy is cooking dinner tonight. He wants to make Philly Cheesesteaks on the Blackstone. He wanted to grill because it's so nice outside. I've done a ton of work this morning and am having a really productive day. I'll continue on and get a bunch of work accomplished today.

I am all packed and waiting for FedEx to pick up my suitcase. Don't ask me how I did it in my condition. Tearisci , your post made me wonder what type of work you do? For our peas that work and are comfortable sharing, what type of work do you do? For those who are retired or SAHMs what type of work did you do? I was an hr manager/recruiter and before that I did 20 years in retail management. Hated all of it. I gave up my dream career in order to have a healthy life. I was a professionally trained character actress.

For those who are retired or SAHMs what type of work did you do? I work for a digital marketing agency and do SEO and social media. I really enjoy the social media more than the SEO but it's a smaller part of my job.

Tearisci , what is SEO? Can you work from home? Search Engine Optimization. I basically help companies get found on Google organically by optimizing their websites. I do work completely remotely and see my coworkers about once a quarter. The entire company is remote so that's nice.

It's nice that you telecommute. The commute from your bedroom to your computer must be nice w/o sig alerts and rubberneckers.

Hi all! I've been keeping up with our peeps' happenings but haven't posted in a while. I thought I'd have so much more time this semester but it hasn't seemed to pan out. I do love my short commute down the hallway and teaching in my slippers though. I'm on spring break this week so I'm happy to schlep around even more. So far I've had a shower and calling it good! I may head out to the library, pharmacy, grocery and Kohls/sephora for a hair product. Nick is coming home for lunch for a few, so I'm happy to see his face for a few extra minutes. He works so many hours and starts so early. And by evening he is knocked out. So this is nice. We are doing well...same stuff -- work, puppies, baking, road trips. We will probably have meatloaf, broccoli, and roasted potatoes with rosemary. Sending good thoughts to everyone. ♥️ Attachments:

I have a history of work as a legislative aide. My undergraduate degrees are in political science and philosophy. Term limits in Michigan pretty much killed any respect the constant turnover of legislators have for experienced workers so that became unstable. I worked a while just as an administrative assistant and then started working on my MBA. Post graduation, I worked 5 years as an accountant with a focus on federal grants. I have moved into a finance/budget role now where I have been for the past 2 years. I applied this morning for an accounting manager position so I'd be returning to my roots. Fingers crossed for me...

Fingers crossed for me... Always! tmarschall Good to see you, love the photos! After college, I worked in the Trust Department of a large bank in Baton Rouge. Worked my way up the ranks in a men's dominated department to Assistant VP and Trust Investment Officer. (The longest title in the bank!) I was up for VP when I went on a business trip to SF and met DH. My second career was being DH's Escrow Coordinator and Relocation Specialist. We are now mostly retired.

I think our dinner is going to be baked chicken wings. Probably a salad as well.
I have a BA in English and Journalism. When I was ready to enter the workforce there weren’t many jobs and I had no idea what I wanted to do. I ended up going to work for a company that manufactures electronics used in defense. I am a quality inspection group lead. I spend most of my days looking through a microscope. I enjoy what I do and am at a point now where I have a manager who appreciates me and my abilities. He has worked to get me three large raises in the past three years and increased my salary by 33% in that time. I hope to retire from this company. It’s the only full time job I’ve ever had.

I have a Bachelor of Human Kinetics. When I graduated from university, I started working for the YMCA where I held a number of positions over the years including: Program Coordinator, Youth Employment Program Manager and Branch General Manager. When I retired almost 3 years ago, I was the General Manager of the branch in my hometown. I worked for the Y for 33 years.
It’s a beautiful day here. My fingers are crossed that the nice weather stays so I just took the burlap off the shrubs at the front of the house. Fortunately they didn’t get pummeled with snow like last year.
I’m making Swiss Steak in the crockpot for supper.

No plans yet for dinner. We still have rechauffe tacos, but he will start to take that for his lunches.
We decided to wait just a bit more to start the bathroom, until it gets a bit warmer since we will be taking out insulation to reinsulate. We may do a little get away again this weekend instead...we will see.
It is nice out today, but then it is supposed to rain tomorrow and get cooler again. It's a roller coaster for sure!
I worked many years in retail from the bottom to manager. Then moved on to buying when XH was in the military and we lived in Iceland. Then came back an moved to accounting. I do it all, AP and AR, reconciliations, JE, etc. The only things I don't do are the balance sheets.

Thank you, scrapmaven and cadoodlebug. Yes, the piecrust is mine. We are loving cherry pie this week. It's the first one since my new (to me) oven arrived and I'm very pleased! Best of luck, jeremysgirl. Did you ever hear about the last one you interviewed for? Sending good thoughts...it's been a hell of a year for you work-wise on top of everything. A question for you, jeremysgirl (since you make them), as well as anyone else who enjoys scones...tell me what you enjoy about them vs muffins? I make muffins regularly and like the tender crumb and any crumbly or streusel-y topping. I'm gettibg ready to make orange cranberry scones, a flavor combination I love. But I've never had a scone to kbow if I will love them. Or if how they turn out will be technically right. Help me out...what makes a scone great? I do make homemade biscuits, and it seems they are kind of a cross between sweet biscuits and muffins? Or no? I love my job, the essential part of teaching and mentoring students. I dislike the weirdo politics that comes with academia/higher ed. I've been a social work professor for 23yrs. My undergraduate degree was in English (secondary education and world religion), and my graduate degree is in social work. I completed all the coursework for a ph.d., also in social work. As a social worker I served high conflict families through supervised visitation, and as a consultant to non-profits for strategic planning, board development, program planning and evaluation, grantwriting and hr functions/policies. I was tenured and promoted at my last university where I thought I'd retire from, but along came Nick who still lived in the area I grew up in. After much contemplation I took a position at another school with a terrible commute (1.5hrs each way) and a lower, non-tenured rank because that's where the opening was if I wanted to be with him, and here I am! No regrets, although I miss Indianapolis, my people, and the climate I worked in around years 2006-2013 or so. But with one exception, I enjoy my colleagues and my students, and I am luckily teaching from home in the spring semester.

For those who are retired or SAHMs what type of work did you do? I worked retail (mostly supermarkets but also Woolworth and JCP) and fast food - I do have a degree (government, history minor) but didn't finish it until my oldest was almost 6 and after that it mostly served as red-flag for being "overqualified" for anything that had the hours I needed and/or I had experience with. I've been at home since 2001. Fingers crossed for me... wishing you all the best

Dinner is rechauffe all the way, costco chicken, garlic mashed and green beans...I may have to supplement the gb's with some broccolli as there aren't many left.
I started my career as a Nursing Assistant in the OB department...only because I was was told by an advisor in HS I wasn't smart enough to go to Nursing School. Talk about a slam to my self confidence. From there I went to school to become a Surgical Technician, then to community college to get my AD in Nursing...and from there to my BS.....which I pretty much aced....Wish I remembered that advisors name I would have a thing or two to say to her!!!! I retired 3 years ago, however continue to do per diem and take some night call every week....Gotta keep the brain sharp!!

Good morning!! So much good stuff on the thread today!! scrapmaven I am glad you are feeling better today!! That's a win! jeremysgirl Keeping everything crossed that this job is THE job!! Thoughts going out to leannec that he first day of subbing is going well and the kids are behaved!! tmarschall I LOVE a scone. I think what I like about it is that it's like a yummy biscuit. My favorite is blueberry with sugar sprinkled on top. Orange cranberry also sounds amazing. Before kids I worked at telecom company in customer service. I then took many years off to be a sahm. When Kait went to kindergarten I started working for my husband. We own our own business. He is an aviation adjuster, investigator, and recovery specialist. I stay in the office and answer phones, type reports, and do quickbooks and basically anything else that needs done. I have a lot of flexibility which is really nice.

Did you ever hear about the last one you interviewed for? I still have not received any kind of rejection email. I don't know what is going on, I interviewed almost a month and a half ago. But I've never had a scone to kbow if I will love them. Or if how they turn out will be technically right. Help me out...what makes a scone great? I do make homemade biscuits, and it seems they are kind of a cross between sweet biscuits and muffins? A scone should have the texture of a biscuit. And they are best fresh. IMO, they do not store well, so eat em' straight out of the oven. I started my career as a Nursing Assistant in the OB department...only because I was was told by an advisor in HS I wasn't smart enough to go to Nursing School. Talk about a slam to my self confidence. What an ass! I'm sorry about that. But you sure showed them!

scrapmaven So glad to hear you are feeling better! I have an undergrad degree in IO Psychology, and a Master's in K-12 School Counseling. My first job out of grad school was in college admissions for a school within a larger university (DH's then-boss helped put my name out there, as he'd been working for her for about 10 months when I applied). I worked there for just over 3 years (DH and I worked only about 15' apart for about 2.5 of those years), but once it was announced that my team was getting moved to an office location ~35 miles away (which, in northern VA, does NOT mean 35 minutes), I knew I needed to get serious about looking elsewhere (which I had been doing for about a year at that point, but that was the kick I needed - especially with the not so great salary I was making at the time). I now work at a non-profit where I love what I do, actually make a decent income, and am inspired by the work my colleagues and those who we serve do every day. Explaining everything I do would take forever (at least it feels that way some days), but I help plan our annual conference (usually 5-7,000 attendees) and work mostly with registration and all that it entails; but I also assist in planning the sessions (we have 272 this year, and over 300 speakers so far). I get to play around with Excel a lot and love it. I'm always learning something new to do with it.

KelleeM , you might actually understand what YDS does for a living. He's in the 2nd year of his PhD program in Materials Science. He works w/batteries and is becoming a microscopist. Woohoo. I have no idea what he does apart from trying not to melt or explode anything in his lab. We have some very interesting careers. After I went back to school I was a social work/psych major trying to become a psychotherapist. Finances were an issue and I had to go to work full-time, taking one class per semester at night. Then I started in HR and was working too many hours to consider school. I stopped working when I had ods. After the kids were in elementary school I was going to finish degrees, as our state schools have online programs, but I was ill and here we are. karenlou , you are a very dedicated and great nurse. Shame on that guidance counselor. Shame on her.

we are going out to dinner with friends.. mexican food.
went out skiing this morning.. some sun, some clouds, a few snow showers. not cold..but with a wind and high humidity, feels cold. skied a few runs with dh on his ski bike. the snow was firm, groomed and no fresh on the runs.
doing errands after dh gets home. and trying to get motivated to get some paperwork done.
I have a degree in Leisure studies.. emphasis was environmental education and environmental interpretation. I worked many misc seasonal jobs when young--forest fire lookout and fire crew, ski instructor, trail crew supervisor, state park maintenance, all sorts of camps, including one where we climbed mt rainier, and seasonal ranger for National Park Service. then, I moved to SF to be with dh and got a permanent position as a NPS ranger.. then we moved to hongkong and had kids and I didn't go back to that. I did work some as a sub teacher in high schools when my kids were older, an admin at my church, and then as a part time nanny. now I work at retired and a Girl Scout volunteer.
