NO internet?? just shoot me now. that means no streaming services but at least i'd have the basic rabbit-ears channels to watch. i mean, i guess i could survive. lord knows i have enough SB supplies to busy me for a lifetime. i guess i could garden or do a lot of baking. if worse, comes to worst, i guess i could exercise. Ha ha! Yeah, NO. 🤣

It really doesn’t sound very different from Covid Reading your post I thought didn’t we *all* just do that? no we had the internet and streaming. Huge difference for me. Yea, it’s not much of a difference for me We’d have to rehook up the dvd player and break out the discs, but I don’t think that makes it any different for me 🤷🏻♀️

I suppose I could, but I would really miss internet. That would mean no news, no YouTube collage channels to help me sleep, no Peas ! Also walking on the streets near my house is an invitation to disaster. Our street is a cut-through from one town to the next-Death Race 2024. I could get caught up on my weeding though.

No, I'd probably go a little crazy. I mean if I had to do it, I could. We just got two feet of snow and school was canceled for 2 days. I went grocery shopping on Wednesday and was stuck Thursday and Friday. I loved those two days, but by Saturday, I appreciated getting out and seeing another human again.
I'd say the longest I've gone without getting in my vehicle is 4-5 days. Just doesn't happen.

Have mercy, I feel old. This was my childhood. Pre-internet. One TV. Party line telephone. On weekends and summer breaks - My parents owned a rustic lake cottage. Electricity, but no phone or TV. Indoor plumbing, but no shower or hot water. I’m an introvert. It was heaven. My DH and his brother used to go fishing in Canada. Drive up to Hornepayne,Ontario then take a floatplane to a remote fishing camp that had electricity, but no internet, cellphone, tv, radio. They’d stay for 10/11 days. He loved it. Yes, the vast majority of us here grew up without internet or more than a few channels. Doesn’t mean we’re used to it now. I could easily stay home for that long but I’d be pretty bored without internet - which provides me not only with online access but also streaming video and music. We don’t even own a CD or DVD player any more.

It really doesn’t sound very different from Covid Reading your post I thought didn’t we *all* just do that? The one difference in my scenario is no internet. Could you be happy without the internet keeping you entertained, I guess that should have been my main question. The other difference to me is that the world is back to “normal” now. Events are going on, people are moving about and doing things, etc. As someone mentioned, sports are happening and they would miss that if there was no internet.

It all sounds like heaven except for the no internet. That would be the hard part because I work from home and I love to surf the net. I mean the whole COVID lockdown was awesome for me.

I was going to say this sounds like heaven until you got to the no internet part. As long as I could have some videos or download some shows and audiobooks ahead of time, I'd love it. I might have to hook the DVD player back up. I have plenty of hobbies.

It's tough the days to accomplish much without internet. That part would be tough. I have done it in recent years when visiting certain parks where I had no signal, and that was ok because there were lots of things to do outside, but it's not how most of us live nowadays.

As long as I had access to books I would be fine. I would miss in a big way my phone and laptop ... but I would have TV right? I live alone and will be spending the next few days holed up at home because we are expecting a huge snowstorm ... I probably won't surface until Saturday! But I will have internet ... I don't do "outside" so walking is a non-issue!

It'd be difficult without the internet, especially because sometimes my phone uses the wifi to make calls - the cell coverage is spotty in some sections of the house.
Given that I have multiple TV series on DVD/Blu-ray, we still have DirectTV, and I have thousands of books, I'd fare just fine in the entertainment section.
But the no internet thing would be a challenge.

Could do, but....... Some internet would be needed.
I mean we didn't have TV until 1952 ish... and that was so my grandfather could watch baseball games after his heart attack..
At my age I need to take frequent breaks while doing 'labor' type things.
I don't go much of anywhere other then walk go get the mail.

I mean I guess I could but I wouldn't love it or choose with with the lack of internet.
Not stepping foot inside my gym for 2 weeks would be hard. I love it there!

No internet would be tough for me. I don’t think I could do that but I have a toddler to entertain.
If it was just me by myself or with just my husband I could do it but then I’d hate being away from my son for two weeks!

As long as I had plenty of books/reading material I would be fine, but it would take a few days to get over my internet/Netflix addiction! I might actually get some things done around the house that I’ve been putting off.

I could totally do it. Hopefully, I would have advance notice of this event, so I could download library books (so I can read without WiFi ). But yes, between books, cd’s, old school radio, scrappy stuff, I’ll be totally fine. My husband might make it to day 3.

I could do it in the summer without any trouble at all. Winter might be a little harder, but I’d probably read a lot and our meals would be better than usual.

"something happened", did happen to me in the spring of 2020. The industry I am in, was part of the "deemed not necessary" business shut down. Almost two months closed. Then about a year of working 1-3 days a week.
During the full closure, I went to the store about every 10 days or so. I did go out for a drive once a week, just to get out of my little home.
During the closure: The first two weeks I did a full "go through" of my little home (I am in a studio apt). All closets, drawers, cupboards, etc... organized and downsized. Once that was done.......I scrapbooked, watched movies, read books (then ebooks on the Library website), facetime, exercised, talked on the phone, scrolled >> pinterest-message-boards-instagram, etc..
As I've aged and have been on and am on my healing, finding myself and self care journey....I've become a homebody. My home is quiet, content, filled with the things I love, etc... It is my refuge from the noisy busy external world. I could easily stay home for days, weeks, months...and be fine.
Edited to add: I could easily do "no internet" for a couple of weeks, although I wouldn't want to.

I could probably quite happily sustain a lifestyle like this for a couple of months, probably even years. Books, cds, dvds, craft… if I had to do it tomorrow and had no warning I’d be fine for at least two months. With a little planning (ie buying more of the books and the dvds) I could easily go for a couple of years. We were the family who hated coming back to “real life” after the shut downs, we were living out best lives at home in isolation We live in walking distance of both sets of grandparents and a major botanical gardens though so this made things a lot easier. If I couldn’t leave the physical boundaries of my property or, even more extreme, leave the confines of my house I still think I’d be more than fine and could outlast most people. Maybe I should become an actual hermit 😂

I would love it. I have so many books I want to read. I have scrapbooking, needlepoint, and quilting to work on. We get the newspaper so I would know some of what was going on with the world, plus I have dvd's so I could watch movies. My daughter and I were talking how nice it was when everything shut down. We did a lot of baking, although I would have to use my cookbooks. I would miss some of the instagram people I follow, but I think I would enjoy it. My job is all online so that would be an issue, but maybe it could happen during a break.

It would not be a problem for me. I would miss some things on the internet but just change gears and do other things. I have a lot of interests and things I want/like to do so it sounds really fun to me. There are many times I don’t leave the house for a while (I work from home). Dh and I will go out to eat or to church and I realize it’s been a few days since I’ve driven anywhere.
