Having 5 girlfriends over for lunch today and one of the things I'm serving homemade chicken salad. I bought the croissants and they're always so soft. Wondering if I can crisp them up. Google says yes, bake for 5 minutes at 325F. Have you tried to crisp these up? Also wondering if I could do it an hour ahead of time.
Thanks!

I'm the opposite.. I love the softness of the croissants.. I'm not really a fan when a croissant is crunchy.... but that is just me..
Where I live I could just leave them uncovered and they would be crunchy in 10 minutes.

I would do 350 for 3-5 min. And I wouldn’t do it more than 10 min in advance.

To refresh, I place in foil pack pouch and bake at 350° for 7-8 min.
I wouldn't do that an hour before or they will get hard and stale after.

I agree with others that I would only do them for 5 minutes or so and would only do them right before, but I never tried it. I typically cut them and then pan fry them if they are not fresh. Good luck. I love chicken salad on croissants. 😁

I like a warm lightly toasted croissant, when making a sandwich out of it. I slice them in half and put the halves on my George Foreman grill for a couple minutes.
I would bake them for a couple minutes, just prior to serving them.

I buy these and freeze them every time I go to Costco.
I refresh in the air fryer.
3 minutes on 320.

I always put some butter on and toast already baked crossaints, only for a short amount of time though.. Typically in toaster oven but could be done in oven or maybe air fryer for those who want theirs toasted.

Why not try an experiment? Try 1 in the oven uncovered and 1 in a foil pouch. I’m guessing that I’d prefer them uncovered.
Although I’ve decided that I’m never buying croissants outside of France or Belgium. They are just disappointing every time.

Hey friends. I don't mind the soft croissants when I'm making a giant platter of sandwiches for a simple gathering. Appreciate all of your input. I did an experiment this morning. Baked one of them at 325F directly on the rack in my Breville countertop convection oven. DH said it was delicious, nicely flaky. (I avoid wheat 95% of the time.)
Thanks for the timing tip - I'll be sure to do it right before serving.
I think I"m going to pass the croissant around. I've got bread plates out. Butter too.
Then people can opt for chicken salad alone on their plate with the option of two other salads.
Appreciate your jumping in to help a gal out! Have a great day and weekend! xo

Yes, I always crisp them in a low oven. It’s key!
PS-I always slice before I crisp. Otherwise they get too flaky and messy to cut.

This thread inspired me. I stopped at the store on my way home and got a container of croissants and a pound of honey ham(thinly sliced-falling apart). Looking forward to a toasted ham sandwich for dinner.

They turned out great, baked directly on oven rack. 325F for 5-6 min.

Its past lunch time but chiming in because I have found it really takes them to the next level. A melty sandwich on a few minutes baked croissant totally takes it to the next level. If you end up with too many I have torn them up and make like a bread pudding or breakfast dish with them. I haven't tried the 2nd recipe but would like to. Croissant Bread Pudding
Ham & Cheese Croissant Casserole

I buy the Costco box of frozen unbaked croissants. I leave them out for about 20 minutes and then bake them. They are amazing. I can just do a couple or sometimes 4 and reheat them for a few minutes if I eat them later and they are just like when they were first baked.

I am also intrigued. I have never seen them in my Vermont/NewEngland Costco either. But I am sure there are a ton of things I am missing that I would love. 😄. I love learning of these things. Does anyone in the US know if they sell them this way here and if so where do you typically find them?
