My sister went to her gyno appt on 3-14. They found 3 cysts on her right breast. Manual exam. Had her setup a mammogram and a 3D u/s. Earliest they can get her in is 4-11. I would think they’d have tried to fit her in ASAP. She told me today that breast has gotten larger since and is sore when she takes her bra off. I told her to call tomorrow and let them know.
Am I off base to think they should have gotten her in faster?

Hopefully, she can get in sooner.

Is there another facility that can see her more quickly?
I’m curious as to how they diagnosed cysts through manual exam.

Not shocking really but since she is now having pain and enlargement, they will hopefully get her in for an US right away and could potentially do a needle aspiration of the cyst(s).
(Note: this is not my area of expertise and especially in an outpatient setting, this is just based on my personal experience)

Hope your sister can get seen ASAP!!
Unfortunately a lot depends on where you live to be seen, particularly where women's healthcare is no longer a priority. In some areas today facilities are closing.

Nope. I had the same experience. I could get a regular mammogram within the week. The recalls take longer bc a doctor is assigned to view the results on the spot. My tech took the images. We waited. Then the dr called in and asked for more images. It sucks bc the is no cancelation list Who cancels the call back appointment? Sending good thoughts

I had to wait 2 weeks for my breast ultrasound with a cyst.
I do think she needs to be seen ASAP with the change in condition. She may have an infection.

I had a mass show on my latest mammo and I couldn't get in for 3 weeks to have an ultrasound. Luckily they think it is just an enlarged lymph node and I don't have to come back for 6 months.
When I first had breast cancer, I had the ultrasound right after my mammo and they determined it was cancer. I had the biopsy like 3 days later to confirm.
I would keep calling for cancellations or find a different clinic if she can.

Hoping she can get in sooner, with the soreness.
I know it’s not what a person needs to be considering when simply trying to be seen, but have her MAKE SURE the testing facility takes her insurance. It was an expensive error on my part ($600 each) because I was just so happy to get seen sooner. Out-of-network procedures can be expensive.

Is there another facility that can see her more quickly? I’m curious as to how they diagnosed cysts through manual exam. That was a good question. I texted her this morning. I asked did the dr say cysts or did she say 3 lumps that could be cysts or could be something else. She clarified and said lumps that could be cysts.
She called this morning and left a message. Not sure if she called the gyno or the dr the mammogram and u/s are scheduled with. Either way, no return call today.

I see. I'm sending you and your sister my best wishes. I've been on the receiving end of the "we need further imaging" message and it's no fun. I hope they can get her in sooner.
