I saw one the other day and asked my husband what it was. I don't understand how it is supposed to be a truck. No interest in owning one of those ugly vehicles.

I don't understand how it is supposed to be a truck. The back slides up and it reveals a bed and a tail gate like a regular pickup truck.

We saw one around here recently. They are so ugly. Never wanted/want a Tesla. We just have no interest in them at all. We have a friend that has a Tesla, and they are super common around here, especially the next city over. There’s a charging station (several chargers) ion the outdoor shopping area there, and one in another city nearby.

I’ve never heard of a Rivian before this thread, either. Wow, they are expensive! I can’t imagine spending $100K on a vehicle. It’s insane what any vehicle costs right now. Several years ago DH was looking at diesel trucks and he pretty much couldn’t find anything decent for under about $60K with a lot of them going for even more than that. We’d drive down the road seeing truck after truck and he would say, “There’s $50 grand, and there’s $50 grand, and there’s $50 grand… Who can afford to buy all those trucks?” It blows us away because we bought our first *house* for $55K back in 1989. We ended up falling into a deal on a new one that had the features he wanted in 2019 so we bought it. After the pandemic hit, he could have sold that truck for $15K over what we paid. It’s crazy. As for the Cybertruck, I’ll take a hard pass on that. I don’t even like driving DH’s normal truck. I feel like I still need blocks on the pedals even with the seat moved all the way forward.

Exactly.. Cost of vehicles are crazy at this point..... We were looking at an Armada we fell in love with.... it was 73k... and the Grand Wagoneer starts at 91k. That's when we started to look back in Rivians again. They didn't seem so far fetched anymore.

I’ve never heard of a Rivian before this thread, either. Wow, they are expensive! I can’t imagine spending $100K on a vehicle. Please buy one, I have stock. Lol They were going to build a plant here in GA so I night some stock (it was only a tiny bit) and then they cancelled the plans. I'm quite sure this happened only because I bought stock --I'm not known for making good decisions on stocks! I've only seen one or two in person.

I was in Austin last week and saw a few. We went to the rodeo and noticed how many electric vehicles were in line for parking along with regular trucks. We have a lot of Rivians, all models, here. I'm fascinated by how quickly they've grown.
I read articles not expecting the company to survive five years, has that changed?
