Have you seen one? What do you think? Do you want one? I've seen several around the area, or maybe I am seeing the same one over and over. It is all a matter of individual taste, but I don't want one! I mean, they stand out, you notice them, and they are big. But, NO! It looks like a slab of aluminum going down the street. It reminds me of that monolith thing in 2001, A Space Odyssey. I hope this is not the future of car design. P.S. I know, in a couple of years, I won't even notice them. Just like I no longer notice the Tesla cars.

there is one parked on the street a couple of blocks away.. I have seen lots of ads and information on them.. and in person, it was much uglier than I imagined. it looks like something out of a sci fi movie.. and there are lots of reports on how hard it is to fix if you bump it or something. personally, I won't give a dime to a musk product..

I think they are ugly and look like something out of minecraft designed by a kid. I have also heard that there are reports of them rusting and that the panels don’t always line up like they should. I have no desire to have one. While there are tons of teslas around here I don’t see these while driving around.

I have not seen any around my area (I had to google it to see what it looked liked). Would not like one. I think it will be awhile before they move their way to our area. We are just starting to commonly see the Tesla cars.

I would much rather buy the Rivian, which if I have any say on our next vehicle, that will be my first choice for a truck.

I haven’t seen any in person (don’t see many regular Tesla’s, either). I wouldn’t buy a Tesla product at this point. Not only because Elon musk is an asshole but because there seem to be a lot of problems with them and I don’t trust him.

We saw one on/near? (Can’t remember) the interstate the other week. First impressions - we both agreed it was ugly. The Minecraft build remark made me laugh. Yep, that’s exactly what it looks like.
There are a lot of Tesla cars around here. They are very common and have been for years.
We just got a Rivian Service Center, but I’ve only seen a few Rivian cars. We do have an Amazon Distribution Center here in town and Amazon trucks are Rivians, so that’s why we got the SC. It will be interesting to see if more Rivian autos start turning up around here.

I saw one recently. It was on a street going 45 mph, so I was next to it for quite awhile. Ugly. It was black, very dull, matte shade. Not shiny at all. No chrome whatsoever. It most definitely catches your eye, and not in a pleasant way.

I've never seen one or knew what it looks like, so I had to Google. That thing is butt-ugly! No way would I want one. Why the manufacturers would even come up with that design is beyond me.

It seems like every other car in my town is a Tesla.

I wouldn't drive a Tesla if it and the electricity were given to me for free.

They remind me of a big, mechanical looking potato bug.

I saw one on the freeway and my kids say there's someone at their HS that gets dropped off in one. Looks like a tank 👎 We have a Rivian office near us and see many frequently. I can't leave my neighborhood with our passing several Teslas. My DH has a Polestar which we are starting to see more of.

They are fugly. When I see a Tesla, I try to get as far away as possible because you know that thing can just explode whenever it wants... ^.^

I've seen 2 in my neighborhood and they look dumb as hell. Lots of Rivians in my area which is weird bc they are literally the least reliable car on the road. They are rated #1 in customer service though, so at least there's that.

I have seen photos of one in our town, but haven't spotted it yet. It is super ugly. My daughter spotted one in South Lake Tahoe in the snow which is so funny and I read there are issues with salt/snow on the metal. There are lots of Rivian's in our area, both trucks and SUV's.

I'm surprised that I have never seen one ... I live in "truck country". My neighbourhood is also full of Tesla's ... people here like to show off ... so there are lot's of BMW's (used to be me!), Mercedes, Audi's, etc. I love trucks but not that monstrosity!

Hmm, has a kind of dystopian meets Delorean feel to it. I'm not 100% against it.

$250k?

Post by katlady on Mar 26, 2024 19:59:46 GMT
No, they start around $80K and go up to about $105K. BUT ... there is a long waiting list, over 2 million people on the list, which will not all translate into sales. They said it is about a 2-4 year wait. So, if someone wants one bad enough, and they are rich enough ... I also heard though that Tesla has a noresale clause. So I don't know how the seller got away with selling one for $240K.

I’ve never heard of a Rivian before this thread, either. Wow, they are expensive! I can’t imagine spending $100K on a vehicle.

I wouldn't drive a Tesla if it and the electricity were given to me for free. They are actually a blast! I drove a Model 3 and it will set you back in the seat! And I sure as heck would not turn a Roadster down! But electric cars are most definitely NOT a thing around here. I think there might be a super charger about 25 miles from me, but nothing closer. I could easily install a charger in my garage or shop, if I needed to. DH likes the Model 3 and I will not ever be surprised if one shows up in my garage some day. Just for local tooling around. We only have pickups at this point, and mine is an Ecoboost, so somewhat decent milage. But all my short trips to town and back would be nice to have something electric. Probably seasonal though. LOL The truck is really ugly. It looks like a DeLorian that was built in shop class, by a freshman... lol

I googled lol I guess that is the way marked up aftermarket, kind of like resale Taylor Swoft tickets😀
