I wasn’t planning to do anything Easter egg related this year because it’s just the two younger boys and there is snow on the ground. But I just saw this tik tok and might give this activity a try. Does anyone else have ideas on activities that are good for older kids (12 and 15)? www.tiktok.com/t/ZTLhSKhG1/

Too bad I didn’t go to tik tok earlier! Lots of good ideas there. Now I just need to get some prizes and candy.

If you have young kids......2-3-4 years old......here's how we taught our daughter how to look for eggs.
She'd go downstairs and her basket was at the bottom of the stairs. She picked that up. With that was a photo that showed where an egg was located. We asked her where that spot was in the house. It was close to her basket. We told her to go to that spot and see what is there.
She got an egg and another photo showing the location of another egg or a treat.
We continued with that until she found all the eggs. Once she was at the last egg there wasn't a photo. We told her that means she found all the eggs.
It was pretty neat to see the procedure "click" in her mind.

Made it kind of funny if it is older kids. Your video reminded me why I hate tiktok however. That family is so obnoxious and so fake. I hate when they have kids in videos that are supposed to be real and it is obviously staged. We just play games and do minute to win it type games that are bunny themed. Lots of cotton balls relays and games of skill involving jelly beans or bunny tails.

I’m not sure why that came up for me but I’m glad it did (although now I spent money I wouldn’t have lol). But I was waiting for DS to get his haircut and needed something to do.

My kid is a teenager and she still likes doing the egg hunts. A few years ago we started putting money in some of the eggs which I’m sure helps keep her motivated because what kid doesn’t like money? 😁 We’ve always hidden the eggs inside the house because the weather is so unpredictable this time of year. I always have to keep track of how many eggs we hide because she doesn’t always find them all. I think she would be really disappointed if we didn’t do it.

I saw this idea in TT. I’m doing this except instead of a lottery ticket, I did a cup. I think it’ll be fun. It’s DS (21), DD (19) and DS’ gf (22). www.tiktok.com/t/ZTLh5TT7e/

These look so fun! I wish I had seen them earlier, now I want to do them. I did end up getting some candy and other larger food items from the dollar store, as well as PS gift cards and some cash. But then oldest ds ended up surprising us by coming home so now my original plan is slightly messed up. But we will make it work. Next year I will know to be more prepared! I’m just glad to have some more ideas besides an egg hunt.

They went from getting pennies and nickels, to candy, to dollar bills and candy, and now they get Trulys and candy. Today there were 24 adult beverages in the back yard as well as a gang of turkeys. It took them over an hour to find the Trulys.

We did a separate one for the almost 17-month-old, but everyone else, from almost 5 to 60+, could participate in the big hunt. We have candy-filled eggs and eggs with puzzles and science experiments, and other stuff, and then we have non-egg items also. These can be fidget toys, bubble things, mini jars of jam, hot sauces, snacks, small Squishmallows, etc. It's whatever I see that I think will work and be fun. We also have several large "gold" eggs that have either a gift card or cash in them; people are limited to one of those. My extended family loves the egg hunt and it’s so fun for me and my brother (the organizers) to see them having fun with it.

I think people might have had to pay an admission fee to participate but the prizes included gift cards and cash. I didn’t see anything advertising it this year though.

My kids are 18 and 15, and they both were pretty into it yesterday! We had shifted the plan to do it before dinner, because DD wasn't going to be home from working until around 10:30 a.m., but we hadn't thought to tell her about the time change. She was SO upset when she thought we weren't doing it! We've never put anything great in there, it's just the general hunt and tradition, I think. Our family hasn't been great about creating traditions, largely because we always travel at most holidays, so I try to keep the ones that I find out matter to them.

I'm another who held an adult easter egg hunt. People were asked to bring 3-5 items for the Prize Patrol. No joke items and no booze since we have some teetotalers, only stuff you'd like to get yourself. $10 per item limit. As host, I put a lot of extra fun stuff into the mix. People put the item name on a slip of paper with a piece of candy into an egg, then our scoundrel of a hider spends a looooong time hiding eggs.
Everyone wore ears. We had an Easter Egg hunt playlist going and it was a ton of fun.
After the hunt, everyone checked their eggs and then brought their prize slips to me where I gave them the corresponding prizes. Good natured trading and bartering was encouraged so people set up "shop" and that was as much fun as the hunt. For example, my DSIL got 4 luxury candles in his eggs, so he chose 2 scents to keep and put 2 others in his trading shop. It was a blast and even the littles enjoyed cheering us on, after their own hunts of course.

I kind of hate having to be the designated hider every year though, especially now that my kid stays up as late as we do which means I have to get up extra early. (She knows it’s me but still plays along, so yeah.) I get stuck with Santa duty at Christmas too. ETA: You could also put the items into gift bags and just put numbers in the eggs, then once everyone has a number do it like a Yankee swap.
