Good morning.
cadoodlebug do you need some help prying the kitchen sink out of the cabinet in order to pack it for your crop? I hope that it's a lot of fun and you get some good pages done.
My cold set in completely. We're heading home this am, anyway. So, I'll just wait it out until it lifts. We have tickets to a ballgame next week. So, it has just a few days to improve.
Dh has rechauffe Chinese takeout. This am he's eating a donut from a place down the hill that sells really different donuts. Today he is eating Death by Chocolate. It has chocolate cream filling and topping and a hard chocolate piece on top. If it weren't for this cold I' d be very jealous. Last time we were here I bought my neighbors Samoa donuts. Think the Samoa girl scout cookie flavors.
What's on your menu?
ntsf , how is your husband doing today? What's next in his care? Are you still planning the eclipse trip?
What is everyone up to today?
Happy day to all!

the eclispe trip we were going on today got cancelled. dh got home from hospital and barely moved yesterday.
he said they are going to take out gallbladder.. communication with him has been difficult.. he forgets to tell me stuff, etc. he is going to make appt with his regular doc today.. mostly resting and recovering still. he feels like this episode has made him an "old man"..
for me, so much easier to care for him at home.
chicken for dinner tonight. don't know what kind or what sides. going to the gym this morning after I walk the dog.

DH is playing golf down lucyg 's way so he won't be home until between 6 and 7. Perfect for me getting everything set for tomorrow morning's departure. When I lived in the bay area it was about a 2 and a half hour drive, now it's 35 minutes and no freeways involved. I love that. Dinner will be gumbo and a green salad. I'm also taking gumbo to the crop to share with my besties. My long-time roommate can't come this year so I'm splurging for a room by myself. I'll pay for it with CapOne points so it's practically free, right?? Distant hugs to all who need them.

safe travels scrapmaven - feel better soon. That doughnut sounds amazing! ntsf - sorry about your eclipse trip. Much sympathy for the communication challenges - dh isn't good at sharing his medical stuff with me so I constantly feel out of the loop which makes it hard to know what he's able to do, when the next appointment is and so on. And you're dealing with much bigger medical stuff. (((Hugs))) bad storms here today so a good day to stay inside and scrap, lol. dinner is spanakopita with a side salad

the odd thing is that dh is often very good at communicating with me.. he is really still affected by brain fog. the week without solid food really affected him.. I know his medical history almost as well as he does. he gets the medical care recommended, he is not hesitant to go in.. so this is sort of out of the norm.
we will get through it just like we get through everything. I am going to give him a few more days before we tackle taxes again. (it is mostly done.. just needs some checking)..
he came home only being told stay on a low fat diet. our diet is already mostly low fat.. but instead of a mini ice cream cone from trader joes for dessert, he had some raspberries.

Did I mention there is a chance of snow flurries while I'm at the crop? It did snow one year but didn't stick. Going to be in the 30's at night. It's funny though, when you're in a hotel room it never gets very cold, not like at home. I guess because you're surrounded on all sides but one.

Happy Wednesday! A beautiful day with no workmen and no appointments! I'll be working on the semi-annual wardrobe switch this afternoon, as well as working on the guest room disaster. Last night I managed to get in a couple of hours of sewing time and hope to get some more in today as well. With this weather though, I'm pretty sure I'm going to need to sit outside for a bit with some coffee and read. We don't get enough days like this and I need to take advantage! Has anyone heard anything from austnscrapaddict? I've been wondering about her lately and noticed she hasn't been on the board since last summer. ntsf - Sorry about your eclipse trip being cancelled. I hope your DH improves and is feeling better soon. cadoodlebug - Gumbo...YUM! scrapmaven - Hope your cold is short lived. Spring/summer colds are the worst. Dinner will be salad and fresh veggies.

My fun day that was planned for today got cancelled because someone had a medical issue. I’m trying to get baby shower invitations out (they're overdue, natch) so it’s just as well, I guess. Dinner will be Irish stew I bought at Costco before St. Patrick’s Day. Haven't had lamb in years, but my mom used to make it frequently. I grew up, discovered pork instead, and never looked back. scrapmaven, get lots of rest and tell that cold to get lost! cadoodlebug, enjoy your crop weekend. You always get so much done! Very impressive. ntsf, I’m sorry your DH is still a bit foggy. Wishing him a quick recovery.

Happy Wednesday!
I'm finishing up work and doing laundry so I can get packed up for my flight tomorrow.
Dinner tonight will be at a fairly new Italian place with my siblings.
Hope you all have a great day!

scrapmaven Well, I accidentally slept in til 9:30 today, so something is definitely going on. Whether it's this dang sinus crap or from something else, I'm not sure. So kind of you to ask! 🥰 Hopefully Monday's appointments will shed some light. ntsf I hope he's on the mend soon! When DH was sick in February, I was so scared because he's rarely sick and it's so tough to see them not feeling well.

I'm totally picturing the two of you yanking on the sink with her luggage nearby. lol How are my fellow cootie-peaps? Yes, all you sick people. I feel for all of you. Really feel for all of you. he said they are going to take out gallbladder.. communication with him has been difficult.. he forgets to tell me stuff dh isn't good at sharing his medical stuff with me so I constantly feel out of the loop which makes it hard to know what he's able to do, when the next appointment is and so on. Men are so weird. I've got one of those ones who thinks I know what's going on telepathically. He'll say, I told you...and I am like, no you didn't, just because you think it, doesn't mean you've said it. Has anyone heard anything from austnscrapaddict? I've been wondering about her lately and noticed she hasn't been on the board since last summer. I'm wondering too. Because I was hoping that maybe I'd get to meet her sometimes when she ventured up to Indiana. We had a near miss of each other about a year and a half ago. I hope she's doing well. I'm making spaghetti for dinner tonight. Fresh pasta. Chloe's coming. My mom is in Gulf Shores for the month so I've got to sub family dinners so I get to see my Chloe. I need to make some coffee and clean out my refrigerator. I shopped last night at the farmer's market and I brought home some stuff, but I had to jam the refrigerator stuff in because I failed to clean it out before I left. I had piles of leftovers last week.

I wasn’t sure if I should post because I really have nothing to share. It’s raining, the dog is muddy and I’m reading. Not very exciting!
Supper will be the final night of turkey. I’m making turkey quesadillas.

I'm totally picturing the two of you yanking on the sink with her luggage nearby. lol I'm sure I told this story a few years ago. When I arrived at the crop, I went into the huge crop room and asked, "anyone want to help me get the sink out of my car?" Everyone got it except for one gal and she hopped up to help me. Everyone was cracking up and then it hit her.
DH literally asks me every time if I need help getting the sink in my car. If it wasn't for me, when the two of us go on vacation, he would leave stuff behind that he ends up needing.

omg mychart.. dh has accounts with all local major medical systems.. and he is a super techie guy.. and it took him a week to set up the mychart with this particular hospital system.. and to see the results. he follows the testing closely.. then puts the results into AI so it is translated to normal vocabulary he almost asked the nurses if there was anyone around who knew about that system's mychart.
in 40 yrs of marriage, dh has been in the hospital probably over a year (a few weeks here and a few weeks there.. sometimes a month). so we have that part pretty dialed. he's had multiple surgeries--like over 75-- on his legs.. but it has almost always been orthopedic and not a real medical issue with systems.
he is a bit better today.. a night in your own bed works wonders.

Most of us don’t get direct responses to most of our posts most of the time, if that’s what you're refering to. But I have seen members respond to your posts on occasion. Bye for now. It's a very difficult time in my life, as if anyone would remember. You can always reach out to me in PM too. It's coming up on the two year anniversary of Esther's passing and that's hard, so hard. I know others probably wouldn't know if I didn't tell them. I know of your loss and how painful it is, but I didn't recall when your DD's birthday or that other, far more terrible end date was. I am happy to talk if you need to. I hate the idea of "popular" peas like in a "mean girls" sense. I don't think of anyone that way. We are just too old for that kind of stuff, IMO. But I do think that there's totally a ratio of how interested you are in other people to how much interest people show in you. Anyway, I hope you'll stick around. Frankly, I hope everyone sticks around. But I do get disappointed on days when it feels like no one here is interacting. I have a lot of friends here and I do want to have relationships. I cannot tell you just how much my pea friends have meant to me over the years. I can never, ever repay some of the kindness I have received. Anyway, I send you a big hug, especially if one of those big days is coming for you. I still have not decided quite how I'm going to handle it. Mother's day felt far worse to me last year.
